摘要: Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) target configuration recognition is a challenging task, and the key point is to realize effective feature extraction. An algorithm combing the advantages of sparse graph and locality preserving projections (LPP) is proposed to achieve SAR target configuration recognition. Taking the merits of sparse representation (SR) into consideration, an affinity matrix is established to realize effective structure preserving of the dataset. Besides, the problem of matrix singularity in LPP is effectively resolved by diagonal loading. Experimental results on the moving and stationary target acquisition and recognition (MSTAR) database validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm.

摘要: Grosser Aletschgletscher, the largest glacier in the European Alps, contains 20% of the entire Swiss ice mass. However, mass balance simulations based on current climate models predict 90% mass loss by 2100. The glacier is a super-test site for the TanDEM-X satellite mission and data series starting from 2011 are available. In this study we analyzed almost 100 digital elevation models computed from bistatic radar interferograms and compare the derived height loss with model predictions. Additionally, we used patch-based offset tracking to determine a new velocity map of the complete glacier. The results show that the current height loss of 3.3 meters per year is close to that mass balance simulation which uses the ensemble median of common European climate models which predict, relative to 1999, a warming of 4.3?C by 2100.

摘要: In the last decades, differential synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometric (InSAR) (DInSAR) techniques have been used to estimate the Earth’s surface deformation with high resolution. In this paper, we present an approach for increasing the quantity of permanent scattered pixels. These pixels are selected for DInSAR processing based on polarimetric information prepared by new sensors. The objective of this paper is then to test existing algorithms that confirm the contribution of polarimetric data for improving persistent scatterers (PS) detection. These algorithms are formulated based on two different selection criteria: amplitude dispersion index and mean coherence. Different approaches are analyzed to optimize both selection criteria in terms of pixels’ quantity and density and finally their results are quantitatively compared. Experimental results with exploiting quad-pol UAVSAR dataset over an urban area in CA, provide the expected improvement. Comparing the number of PSs between quad-pol with dual-pol and single-pol cases illustrate remarkable improvement in both selection criteria. For quad-pol case, we achieve an increase of 50% and 60% with respect to dual-pol and single-pol data, respectively, when using average coherence and over 6 times more for amplitude dispersion index. The results of our study demonstrates the added value of polarimetric SAR observations (dual pol and quad-pol) for improved permanent scatterers detection monitored areas.

摘要: Inshore ship detection in SAR image faces difficulties on correctly identifying near-shore ships and onshore objects. This article proposes a multi-scale full convolutional network (MS-FCN) based sea-land segmentation method and applies a rotatable bounding box based object detection method (DR-Box) to solve the inshore ship detection problem. The sea region and land region are separated by MS-FCN then DR-Box is applied on sea region. The proposed method combines global information and local information of SAR image to achieve high accuracy. The networks are trained with Chinese Gaofen-3 satellite images. Experiments on the testing image show most inshore ships are successfully located by the proposed method.

A novel approach for the extraction of cloud motion vectors using airglow imager measurements
摘要: The paper explores the possibility of implementing an advanced photogrammetric technique, generally employed for satellite measurements, on airglow imager, a ground-based remote sensing instrument primarily used for upper atmospheric studies, measurements of clouds for the extraction of cloud motion vectors (CMVs). The major steps involved in the algorithm remain the same, including image processing for better visualization of target elements and noise removal, identification of target cloud, setting a proper search window for target cloud tracking, estimation of cloud height, and employing 2-D cross-correlation to estimate the CMVs. Nevertheless, the implementation strategy at each step differs from that of satellite, mainly to suit airglow imager measurements. For instance, climatology of horizontal winds at the measured site has been used to fix the search window for target cloud tracking. The cloud height is estimated very accurately, as required by the algorithm, using simultaneous collocated lidar measurements. High-resolution, both in space and time (4 min), cloud imageries are employed to minimize the errors in retrieved CMVs. The derived winds are evaluated against MST radar-derived winds by considering it as a reference. A very good correspondence is seen between these two wind measurements, both showing similar wind variation. The agreement is also found to be good in both the zonal and meridional wind velocities with RMSEs < 2.4 m s?1. Finally, the strengths and limitations of the algorithm are discussed, with possible solutions, wherever required.

摘要: The optimal method for detecting objects of microwave radiation in a Ratio-type radiometer with an unstable receiver gain is synthesized. Analysis of the method indicates that the measurement results are not shifted, and the method itself can be practically implemented. The analytical expressions of the probabilistic and energy characteristics of objects detection against the background of the sky at various signal-to-noise conditions are obtained. The technical implementation of the detection method is proposed and experimental research is carried out.

摘要: An impulse UWB GPR antenna system consisting of one transmitter and four receivers has been designed for rapid detection of objects on, and under, the ground surface. The measured two-way times-of-flight for the reflected probing signals (from the radiator to the object and back to the four receivers) are used to calculate the (x, y, z) coordinates of the reflecting object. For cases where several reflected times-of-flight (due e.g. to reflections from the vehicle or other noise) are recorded, criteria enabling selection of unique coordinates that correspond to the true target have been determined and verified.

摘要: Bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can provide additional observables and scattering information of the target from multiple views. In this paper, a new bistatic SAR automatic target recognition (ATR) method based on multi-input deep convolutional neural network is proposed. The geometry of the multi-view bistatic SAR ATR is modeled, and an electromagnetic simulation approach is utilized as an alternative to generate enough bistatic SAR images for network training. Then a deep convolutional neural network with multiple inputs is designed, and the features of the multi-view bistatic SAR images will be effectively learned by the proposed network. Therefore, the proposed method can achieve a superior recognition performance. Experimental results have shown the superiority of the proposed method based on the electromagnetic simulation bistatic SAR data.

Wide-Angle, Ultra-Wideband ISAR Imaging of Vehicles and Drones
摘要: In-situ, wide-angle, and ultra-wideband inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging of vehicles and drones is demonstrated using a portable ultra-wideband radar. In order to form well-focused ISAR images, motion compensation is performed before applying the k-space imaging algorithm. While the same basic motion compensation methodology is applied to both types of targets, a more complex motion model is needed to better capture the ?ight path of the drone. The resulting ISAR images clearly show the geometrical outline of the targets and highlight locations of prominent backscattering. The ISAR images are also assessed against images generated through instrumented targets or laboratory measurements, and the image quality is shown to be comparable.

摘要: In this paper, we propose a multi-human detection algorithm based on impulse radio ultra-wideband radar system. With our proposed algorithm, the multi-human detection can be performed by repeatedly performing clustering and detecting processes. More speci?cally, the system detects an effective peak of the ?rst single cluster which is composed of peaks adjacent to each other and then repeat this process until effective peaks of clusters caused by multiple people are successfully detected sequentially. As our performance metrics, we take into account the performance analysis in terms of the error probability based on the results of the statistical analysis. More speci?cally, we ?rst cross-verify that the empirical result theoretically follows the Log-normal distribution by comparing the theoretical and empirical results obtained through laboratory experiments. Then, we statistically analyze the received signals under the Log-normal distribution assumption. After that, this statistical result is adopted to the performance analysis of the error probability in terms of the total error probability. Note that the performance of our proposed algorithm is affected by the threshold value. Based on it, the optimal threshold is analyzed and we provide the sample guidelines for optimally adjusting the threshold value under given various environment factors. Finally, some selected experimental results are presented to show the validity of our proposed algorithm by comparing the performance between the proposed algorithm and the conventional algorithm.
