摘要: The present paper is devoted to the development of a conformal leaky-wave antenna based on a curved rectangular waveguide. The process of obtaining the required beam position is about longitudinal tailoring the phase velocity. This is achieved with choosing the thickness of dielectric, which partially fills the slotted waveguide. The difference between wavelengths in curved and straight waveguides is taken into account. An amplitude distribution function is realized by means of traditional adjusting the each particular slot parameters. The results of computer simulation validate the proposed design technique.

Retarding System of the Diafraged Rectangular Waveguide Type
摘要: In this paper, we propose fast and sufficiently accurate models for retarding systems (RS) such as double-shifted combs in a rectangular screen and RS of the looping waveguide type based on the diaphragm conductivity calculation in a rectangular waveguide (RW). The conductivity of the capacitive diaphragm in the RW is obtained for electric and magnetic wide walls. Multimode models based on functionals of electric and magnetic types are also proposed. The models facilitate correct account of losses. The dispersion of a double comb and looping waveguide with infinitely thin walls is calculated.

A New 4 ?? 4 Rectangular Waveguide Short-Slot Coupler in 3D Printed Technology at Ku-Band
摘要: This paper presents a novel design of an eight-port directional coupler with a very compact structure and simple manufacturing, working in the Ku frequency band. One of the main goals of the design was to ease the manufacturing with a simple structure: the coupler consisted of four rectangular waveguide input ports, four rectangular waveguide output ports, and a central coupling region with only H-plane variation. A prototype was fabricated using additive manufacturing, with a combination of 3D printing and silver coating metallization. The obtained performance showed a theoretical bandwidth of 6.6% with 20 dB return loss for the input/output ports. Good agreement between simulations and measurements was obtained, validating the proposed coupler as a good trade-off for low cost 3D printing, compactness, and high performance for systems requiring a high number of ports as in phase arrays or Butler matrices.

摘要: A novel simple approach to the verification process for millimeter-wave vector network analyzer waveguide calibration is reported using a single reconfigurable component verification kit. Conventional techniques require multiple verification components and these only exist commercially for operation up to 110 GHz. At millimeter-wave frequencies, the use of multiple components can lead to significant errors due to imperfections in waveguide flange misalignments during the multiple component connections. The reconfigurable component is designed so that its electrical properties can be changed quickly to a broad range of predetermined values without introducing additional errors due to changes in flange alignment. Once connected, the component can be reconfigured to introduce relative changes in the reflected and transmitted signals. For millimeter-wave metrology, where mechanical precision is of paramount importance, this single-component verification approach represents an attractive solution. A proof-of-concept verification process is described, based on full-wave electromagnetic modeling, hardware implementation, and validation measurements using standard WR-15 waveguide (50–75 GHz).

摘要: We provide a general formulation of electromagnetic scattering by a Perfect Electrical Conductor (PEC) object in arbitrary motion in the context of Hertzian Electrodynamics, which is followed by an application to the canonical problem of scattering of dominant TE mode incidence in presence of a PEC termination in accelerated rotational motion. Analytical solutions, which apply for arbitrary variations of angular velocity, are derived and supported with measurement results.

The Method of Integral Equations in Problems of Wave Diffraction in Waveguides
摘要: This paper studies the propagation of steady-state oscillations in an irregular rectangular waveguide. The irregularity of the waveguide is caused by the presence inside it of a metallic inclusion in the form of a cylindrical inductive cylinder. To solve the problem in a complete electrodynamic formulation, it is necessary to investigate the boundary problem for the system of Maxwell equations. To study the waveguide system consisting of a waveguide with a well-conducting inclusion, the method of integral equations was applied. The cores of the integral equations are defined through the Green functions of the unfilled waveguide, written in terms of the waveguide modes. Algorithms for their calculation are developed on the basis of the selection of a logarithmic singularity, and algorithms for summing up the series belonging to them are created. The possibilities of the method of integral equations are illustrated with examples of calculating the reflection and transmission coefficients from inductive pins.

摘要: A general resonant condition for rectangular waveguide junctions operating in the single mode regime of the main waveguide is formulated based on previously developed mathematical models. We will consider three types of junction with various side arms: semi-infinite waveguide oriented in line with main waveguide, T-oriented semi-infinite waveguide with an impedance end wall, and infinite perpendicularly oriented waveguide. The main waveguide is coupling with the side arm through a narrow slot, and it has a dielectric insert in the coupling region. The simulation results obtained for the waveguide junctions have shown that the resonant conditions allow to attain correct results without taking into account the imaginary part of permittivity of the insert material.

摘要: Indium-Phosphide (InP) is one of the most common materials used for realizing active devices working in the millimeter frequency range. The isotropic etching profile of InP substrates limits the realization of passive devices, thus requiring an expensive and lossy hybrid platform. This paper presents a via-less, cost-effective and efficient solution for InP substrate. By using the proposed planar solution, it is demonstrated that rectangular waveguides can be realized on InP by fabricating a bed of nails structure which acts as a reflecting boundary for an impinging millimeter wave. As a proof of concept, a transition from microstrip to rectangular waveguide structure is realized within H-band (220-320 GHz) with a return loss of -18dB over a bandwidth of 30 GHz.

摘要: Multipactor is an electron discharge that may appear in particle accelerators and microwave devices such as filters, multiplexers, and RF satellite payloads in satellite on-board equipment under vacuum conditions. When some resonance conditions are satisfied, secondary electrons get synchronized with the RF fields, and the electron population inside the device grows exponentially leading to a multipactor discharge. This multipactor discharge has some negative effects that degrade the device performance: increase of signal noise and reflected the device walls, outgassing, detuning of power, heating of resonant cavities, and even the partial or total destruction of the component. The main aim of this investigation is to show a new model for the analysis of multipactor effect in partially dielectric-loaded rectangular waveguides. For this purpose, a CAD software has been developed which allows the simulation and design of these structures out of the operation points in which this undesired multipactor effect occurs, including the main factors that drive it.

PUSH-PULL PHENOMENON OF A DIELECTRIC PARTICLE IN A RECTANGULAR WAVEGUIDE
摘要: The electromagnetic force acting on a Rayleigh particle placed in a rectangular waveguide is studied. The particle is excited using the lowest order TE 10 mode. It is determined that the particle is laterally trapped at the high intensity region of the electric ?eld and either pushed away from or pulled toward the light source. This push-pull phenomenon depends on whether the frequency of the light wave is above or below the cuto? frequency (i.e., the particle can be pushed or pulled by tuning the frequency). While conventional optical tweezers rely on a balance of scattering and gradient force in the propagation direction, the phenomenon predicted here switches between the two forces near the lowest cuto? in a waveguide.
