    摘要: In this paper, the cutoff frequency of the quad-ridge flared horn (QRFH) with respect to its ridge is studied. Based on the studies, we developed a QRFH to operate from 6 GHz to 18 GHz with high efficiency. The test results show that the return loss is less than -10 dB across the whole band. When the QRFH is used to illuminate a reflector antenna, the aperture efficiency is above 55.8%.

  • Design of Cross-Shaped CPW-Fed Ultrawideband Slot Antenna

    摘要: A new design of ultrawideband (UWB) antenna of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed is proposed. The antenna is composed of a cross-shaped patch and house-shaped slot with the minimum dimension of 21 mm × 20 mm × 1.6 mm. The analysis of S11, VSWR, radiation pattern and surface current is discussed with HFSS simulation software, and also the effect of parameters is presented. Experimental results show that the bandwidth of the antenna covers 110.67% (3.3—11.6 GHz) of UWB range with return loss better than 10 dB. And the good impedance matching in frequency band confirms the antenna is a good candidate for the application of wireless system.

    摘要: The paper represents the design and implementation of a Silicon Pillar Bow Windmill used in LED output coupler at a frequency of 100 GHz with cylindrical waveguides. The design and simulation have been carried out using CST microwave studio. The designed windmill has a circular aluminum disc with a thickness of 3.19 μm and radius of 2500 μm. The circular disc is sandwiched between two circular waveguides. The designed windmill has been simulated and the return loss and insertion loss are obtained as -22.38 dB and -0.000723 dB respectively at this frequency. The designed windmill has good performance and can be used for low and medium power microwave applications.

  • Inset-fed rectangular MICROSTRIP patch antenna bandwidth enhancement

    摘要: Bandwidth enhancement of the traditional inset-fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna is numerically analyzed using degraded ground plane technique. Input impedance calculation based on the electromagnetic theory in traveling-wave in conjunction with field distribution in quasi-TEM mode approximation is carried out. Radiated electric field properties are performed using Ampere’s law of the magneto-static. Some antenna performances such as ?10 dB return loss bandwidth of 36.7%, beam-width of about 94(cid:1), and stable gain of 3.4 dB have been achieved.

    摘要: Time-domain channel characterization (TCC) for de-embedding of an asymmetric fixture is introduced. Two design criteria for the design of a 2x-thru are proposed. Error sensitivity regarding a small error in the S-parameters of the 1x-fixture is analyzed with an insertion loss error-coefficient and a return loss error-coefficient. The TCC procedure, including proposed design criteria and error sensitivity, is also introduced to reduce the error in the TCC application. Three different 2x-thru structures are investigated for the verification of the two proposed design criteria and analyzed for error sensitivity. Test fixtures on a printed circuit boards are fabricated for the experimental verification.

    摘要: A miniaturized double-Vivaldi antenna (DVA) with high gain based on metasurface (MS) is proposed. A pair of defected ground slots (DGS) are added to the edges of the antenna to extend the low-end frequency limitation from 2.15 GHz to 1 GHz. Then, the gain of DVA is improved obviously in a wide frequency band by the inclusion of a MS in the aperture. The novel unit cell of the MS in our design is a two-stub-loaded split-ring resonator (TSLSRR), which has compact size, wide frequency band, and low-return loss. Finally, to verify the designed methods, DVA, DVA with DGS (DVA-DGS), DVA with DGS and MS (DVA-DGS-MS) ware successfully designed, and it show an overall size of 80 mm × 150 mm × 1 mm.

  • Self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide structure

    摘要: In this Letter, a novel self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide (GSCPW) structure is proposed by using the common multi-layer PCB techniques, which eliminates the drawbacks of bulky circuit size, heavy weight and difficult to be integrated as that of the traditional suspended circuits with mechanical mounting. Both self-packaging and end connection are used to reduce the wave leakage, and the multiple via holes are saved, which greatly reduce the simulation time and the fabrication complexity. The proposed GSCPW structure has been fabricated, and has been demonstrated by experimental results with a measured insertion loss of no more than 0.45 dB, and a measured return loss of better than 20 dB from dc to 4 GHz.

  • A SIMPLIFIED IMPLEMENTATION OF SUBSTRATE INTEGRATED NON-RADIATIVE DIELECTRIC WAVEGUIDE AT MILLIMETER-WAVE FREQUENCIES

    摘要: The substrate integrated non-radiative dielectric (SINRD) guide presents a rather complicated process of design and implementation because of multiple interrelated design parameters involved in the de?nition of structures. In this work, the size of SINRD guide is halved by using a perfect electrical conductor (PEC) image plane. Consequently, the number of modes in the resulting image SINRD (iSINRD) guide is equally reduced since all even modes including the LSE 10 mode are suppressed. Furthermore, a simple yet accurate design method is proposed that takes into account many parameters involved in the design of an SINRD guide, especially dimensions of perforation and dispersion e?ects.Three iSINRD prototypes are fabricated to test the proposed method over the W-band frequency range. Two of the prototypes are based on Alumina substrate with di?erent perforation pro?les, and both exhibit insertion loss around 1 dB while the return loss is around 16 dB. The third is based on RO6002 substrate and exhibits an insertion loss of around 3 dB and a return loss of around 14 dB. To test the leakage loss caused by periodic gaps in the PEC wall, two iSINRD lines with one and three gaps were fabricated. The insertion and return losses of the former case are respectively 1.2 dB and 17 dB compared to 2.5 dB and 18 dB of the latter case.

  • Design of Rectangular Waveguide to Microstrip Power Dividers and Their Application as Compact Rectangular Matching Terminations

    摘要: In this article, a vertical four-way rectangular waveguide to microstrip power divider is proposed. The power divider achieves perfect power division from 10.1 to 11 GHz with a 20-dB return loss and a short longitudinal length. Based on the four-way power divider, two microstrip ports are added, and a compact improved four-way rectangular waveguide to microstrip power divider is constructed. The 20-dB return loss bandwidth of the power divider can be extended from 9.9 to 12.4 GHz. If all the output microstrip ports are connected to resistive loads, the power dividers become rectangular matching terminations. Thus, the four-way power divider can achieve a rectangular matching load with an 8% bandwidth and a 2-mm matching length. The improved four-way power divider can achieve a rectangular matching load with a 22.4% bandwidth and a 2.5-mm matching length. The measurements agree well with the simulations. The proposed designs of the rectangular loads are superior in their compact volume, high power capacity, and ease of fabrication.

  • Dielectric constant measurement of low loss liquids using stacked multi ring resonator

    摘要: The concept of dielectric constant measurement has been extended and applied in agriculture, pharmaceutical and food industry for quality control of liquids. Dielectric analysis of material at microwave frequencies can be done using novel shielded stacked multi-ring resonator (SMRR). The dielectric constant of liquids and paste has been calculated using SMRR with greater accuracy than the planar resonator, boxed resonator and stacked resonator. SMRR contains a ring resonator with fed patch and parasitic patch with different numbers and sizes of rings. The dimensions of rings on the parasitic patch are optimized to achieve Quality factor Q greater than 100 and return loss less than -2 dB. Due to dual resonance in novel SMRR, structure losses are reduced by 50% than planar resonator structure. The behavior of SMRR structure at the 2.45 GHz frequency is studied with E ?eld and H ?eld. 3D model is designed in Computer Simulation Technology Microwave Studio (CST MWS) using TLM (Transmission Line Modeling) solver. Electromagnetic ?eld analysis as well as impedance bandwidth of SMRR using CST MWS 3D model prove that electromagnetic coupling in SMRR structure increases thus improves quality factor. In SMRR quality factor increases and losses reduce help us to predict the complex permittivity of material for quality analysis.
