3D laser scanning and digital restoration of an archaeological find
摘要: The current paper demonstrates the digital recreation and 3D printing of a missing fragment of an ancient ceramic pottery following digitization using a three dimensional laser scanning. The resulting point-cloud of the laser scans was treated with a series of advanced software for the creation of surfaces and ultimately for a digital model. An analytical methodology is presented revealing the step by step approach, which is an innovative way of recreating a missing fragment. Such approach aims to demonstrate the level of contribution that the ever evolving computer based technologies and 3D printing could bring to cultural heritage. The reverse engineering method presented for the reconstruction of a ceramic pottery, which is a part of the larger field of digital archaeology, is believed to benefit a variety of interested parties including 3D CAD users and designers, archaeologists and museum curators.

Optical measurements based on practical methods for detecting time-wise morphing structures
摘要: Nowadays non-contact measurement methods have become widely used systems in several fields especially robotics, aerospace, architecture, and cultural heritage. Practical devices, taken from mass markets, are increasingly being used in scientific and engineering research fields thanks to their ability to combine good accuracy with to the low-cost and ready-to-use experimental setup. In the present paper, digital image analysis (based on digital camera devices) and three-dimensional scanning technique (based on Kinect I and Kinect II sensors) are compared to evaluate their performance in detecting a time-wise shape modification. Digital camera and Kinect sensors are used to the non-contact detection of a morphing blade able to modify its geometry according to airflow temperature variation. The comparison showed the capability of the digital image technique to provide quantitative information when a proper alignment is adopted, while the three-dimensional scanning process allows the continuous blade detection useful to quantify the shape modification. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional blade shape reconstruction processes are also discussed.

摘要: We propose a new class of profiler for distributed and heterogeneous systems. In these systems, a task may wait for the result of another task, either locally or remotely. Such wait dependencies are invisible to instruction profilers. We propose a host-based, precise method to recover recursively wait causes across machines, using blocking as the fundamental mechanism to detect changes in the control flow. It relies solely on operating system events, namely scheduling, interrupts and network events. It is therefore capable of observing kernel threads interactions and achieves user-space runtime independence. Given a task, the algorithm computes its active path from the trace, which is presented in an interactive viewer for inspection. We validated our new method with workloads representing major architecture and operating conditions found in distributed programs. We then used our method to analyze the execution behavior of five different distributed systems. We found that the worst case tracing overhead for a distributed application is 18 percent and that the typical average overhead is about 5 percent. The analysis implementation has linear runtime according to the trace size.

Modeling Design and Rapid Prototyping Manufacture of Cream Bottle Based on Handheld Laser Scanning
摘要: Reverse Engineering (RE) and Rapid Prototyping (RP) were used for manufacturing cream bottle. Points cloud data of cream bottle was accessed by handheld laser scanner firstly. Then, points cloud data was handed by Imageware software and the three-dimensional model was formed by Solid works software. Finally, the entity model was manufacturing by RP machine. In the research, rapid prototyping was combined with reverse engineering technology, manufacturing cycle was shorten, production requirements, improve efficiency and other advantages were met.

Three-dimensional point cloud data subtle feature extraction algorithm for laser scanning measurement of large-scale irregular surface in reverse engineering
摘要: In reverse engineering, feature extraction of point cloud data is a key process for the precision machining of the large-sacle complex workpieces. Because of the large numbers of the point cloud data and the difficult recognition of the complex feature, incomplete feature recognition will have a serious impact on the accuracy of the machining. Thus, this paper proposes a subtle feature extraction algorithm, which can be used for the laser scanning measurement of the large-scale irregular surface. First, the L1-median point is calculated as the center point of the neighborhood. Second, the k+1 neighbors are introduced to compute the feature description of the point cloud. Then, the feature is extracted by multi-threshold based on Poisson region growth algorithm. Last, the proposed algorithm is applied to feature extraction experiment of point cloud data for the large spherical crown workpiece. Compared with the traditional algorithms, the proposed algorithm not only can identify the subtle feature information quickly, but also can locate the weld position more accurately.

摘要: Over the years, system design companies have developed sophisticated and accurate Reverse Engineering (RE) tools to debug the functionality of their own designs, ensure the legitimacy of their Intellectual Properties (IPs), and to some extent- gather information on their competitors. Technologies such as optical imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Tunneling Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray Tomography, etc. have made it possible to acquire images of individual layers of a delayered Integrated Circuit (IC) with super?ne resolution. State-of-the-art tools such as ICWorks from Chipworks can perform automatic extraction of netlists from images of each layer. An adversary can unlock valuable IPs through such attacks and pirate the design or sell the cloned IP to other competitors for unjust motives. Logic and interconnect obfuscation have been proposed to make the RE effort behind such approaches prohibitively high for the adversaries. Several solutions have been proven to be vulnerable to Satis?ability (SAT) based attacks where an adversary can deobfuscate the circuit reasonably quickly. In this paper, we have presented a novel obfuscation technique based on the concepts of cloaked nets and fake holographic gates using metasurface holography. The proposed approach can address optical and X-ray imaging based RE.

摘要: In surface reconstruction, to solve the registration of point clouds of laser radar problem, a method based on moving least-squares was conducted to make feature extraction of target ball and then established linear equations to calculate the coordinate of the ball's center based on characteristic curves. Lastly, registration of point clouds was conducted based on four coordinates of the balls' centers. Experimental result shows that the method can improve the computing precision of the coordinate of the ball's center and the error of registration is in degree of millimeter based on moving least-squares. The accuracy is high and satisfies the engineering demand.
