摘要: This paper presents a design of a circular monopole antenna for ultra wideband (UWB) applications. The antenna is fed by a 50 (cid:2) tapered microstrip line, and printed on a FR4 substrate with relative permittivity of 4.3 and height of 1.6 mm. All optimal parameters of a circular monopole with slot have been presented to accomplish |S11| better than -10 dB with good radiation over UWB frequency. The design includes a modified partial ground plane to enhance the S-parameter characteristics and radiation properties across the whole UWB frequency band. The parameters, which affect the performance of the antenna with respect to frequency characteristics, are investigated and reported.

摘要: Waveguide slot antennas and arrays date back to the forties, but they are still nowadays very popular as high-frequency antennas, mainly for RADAR and communication systems. In this paper we describe the main limitations and drawbacks of waveguide slot arrays configurations, and the possible countermeasures proposed in the literature, focusing on the improved design technique available for high performance planar waveguide slot arrays.

Slotted waveguide antenna with central trapped wave effect
摘要: A new slotted waveguide antenna is proposed in this paper, which opens eight parallel slots along the longitudinal axis at the broad wall of the waveguide as radiation output facets. It has compact slot structure, which greatly reduces the size of the antenna, and the overall longitudinal size of the parallel slot facet is merely 3.8 mm (just slightly larger than half of the operating wavelength). The slot linear array design of the antenna achieves the central trapped wave radiation effect, avoids energy consumption at communication discontinuous zone, and enhances radiation efficiency. The operating bandwidth could be up to 10 GHz, with the center frequency of 85 GHz. The measured results match well with simulated results, and the gain is slightly higher than 9.0 dBi within the whole operating frequency range. The antenna has features of compact longitudinal structure, wide frequency band, stable gain, etc., and will have good application prospects in wireless communication.

摘要: This paper presents a substrate integrated waveguide Butler matrix with a modi?ed hybrid coupler, operating from 28 to 32 GHz. The modi?ed hybrid coupler is realized by using 90? hybrid coupler followed by a ?45? compensating phase shifter. Thus, 45?/135? output phase differences can be obtained using this type of coupler. Compared with the equal-length unequal-width phase shifter, the compensating phase shifter exhibits better phase characteristics, with only 3? phase error over 28–32 GHz. Because the phase of compensating phase shifter is not realized by taking the phase introduced by the crossover as a reference, it gives great ?exibility to the design of compensating phase shifter. Adopting the modi?ed hybrid coupler, the designed Butler matrix features the output phases with peak to peak error of 13? and wideband performance from 28 to 32 GHz. The slot array fed by the Butler matrix can radiate four slanted beams with acceptable measured gains, in the range of 9.7~12 dBi for port 1 excitation and 8.4~11.1 dBi for port 2 excitation. The radiated beams can reach a wide azimuthal coverage between ±61?.

Nose-Cone Conformal Substrate-Integrated Waveguide Slot Array Antenna for X-Band Radar Applications
摘要: This paper presents the design of nose-cone conformal substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) slot array antenna for modern radar applications. Firstly, the wave propagation characteristics have been investigated in doubly curved SIW, and it has been observed that they are non-uniform along the longitudinal direction of nose-cone conformal SIW. To ensure the constant wave propagation along the length of conformal SIW, the conventional design of SIW is reformulated for nose-cone conformal SIW and circuit model modification has been demonstrated. Secondly, the procedure for designing a SIW-based array on curved surfaces has been developed. In the proposed design, rectangular waveguide (RWG) to SIW feeding structure has been used to avoid spurious radiations. Finally, 1 × 6 element-based nose-cone conformal slotted array has been designed and compared with planar and cylindrical conformal arrays. It has been observed from the results that the nose-cone conformal slot array offers low sidelobe levels (SLLs) and high gain. For the validation of the proposed design, the conformal slotted array has been fabricated and measured, which exhibited a reasonable agreement between the measured and the simulated data.

摘要: We review the state of the art of slotted waveguide array antenna technology. Design and analysis techniques of slot arrays in standard rectangular waveguides are discussed first. Subsequently slots cut in ridge waveguides, iris excited waveguides, strip lines, radial waveguides and gap waveguides are addressed. Some applications of slot arrays and manufacturing techniques are also briefly reviewed.

Dual-band substrate integrated waveguide dual-dumbbell-shaped-slot-fed patch antenna
摘要: A dual-band low-profile substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) dual-dumbbell-shaped-slot-fed (DDSSF) patch antenna is presented in this letter. The antenna is designed using the dual-dumbbell-slot feeding structure in SIW and two patches to radiate. And it achieves two passbands by exciting two modes of dual dumbbell-shaped slots (DDSSs). The first impedance bandwidth is 4.1%, the second one is 10.0% and gains up to 6.7 dBi and 7.4 dBi, respectively. Furthermore, the two bands can be separated from each other and the cross-polarization level is below ?30 dB. The simulation and measurement results of the proposed antenna are in good agreements.

摘要: The emerging field of nanophotonics requires plasmonic devices to be fully compatible with semiconductor fabrication techniques. However, very few feasible practical structures exist at present. Here, we propose a CMOS-compatible hybrid plasmonic slot waveguide (HPSW) with enhanced field confinement. Our simulation results show that the HPSW exhibits significantly enhanced field confinement as compared with the traditional low-index slot waveguides and the hybrid metal dielectric slot waveguides. By controlling the thicknesses of different layers, an optimized HPSW structure with a better tradeoff between field confinement and propagation length has been simultaneously achieved.

A 16 ?? 16-Element Slot Array Fed by Double-Layered Gap Waveguide Distribution Network at 160 GHz
摘要: In this article, a slot array with double-layered full-corporate-fed distribution network by ridge gap waveguide (RGW) in the G-band is presented. The array antenna proposed in this article contains 16 × 16-element radiation slots fed by air-?lled ridge gap waveguide distribution network that achieves high-ef?ciency. Gap waveguide technology avoids the demand for perfect electrical contact in millimeter waves, therefore the expensive diffusion bonding and the laser welding processes are not demanded. Moreover, the high-accurate Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machining is applied for the fabrication. Due to the limited layout space for the distribution network, two types of universal stepped cavity power dividers are presented in this article. The proposed array antenna is fed by a standard WR-5 waveguide at the bottom. Furthermore, the tested outcomes show that the proposed 16×16-element array has a gain larger than 30 dBi with over 50% antenna ef?ciency in the frequency range of 155-171 GHz.

摘要: a Ku-band broadband waveguide wide side longitudinal slot antenna array for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) SAR application is designed. A single-ridge is employed to reduce the sectional size of the waveguide, and to achieve wide scanning ability. The bandwidth of the antenna is expanded by the single-ridge and subarea feeding of the slots. The active admittance of the waveguide slot is extracted based on the simulation using the HFSS software, in order to determine the size parameters of the waveguide slots. The simulation mode is built and the size parameters of the waveguide slots are modified and optimized by the aperture distribution re-deducing method. This design method has high efficiency and high veracity. An antenna array of 72 waveguide slot antenna lines is designed and manufactured. The measured results show that the relative bandwidth of VSWR smaller than 2 is 15%. The measured patterns show that the side lobe is smaller than -21.5dB, the cross polarization is better than -40dB, and the scanning angle is ±60° in azimuth direction. This waveguide slot antenna array has many advantages such as wide band, wide scanning, low side lobe and compact structure, and is suitable for UAV SAR application.
