  • Efficient visible-light-responsive photocatalyst: Hybrid TiO2-Ag3PO4 nanorods

    摘要: Herein, ordered TiO2-Ag3PO4 nanorods are fabricated by loading Ag3PO4 nanoparticles on the as-prepared brookite TiO2 nanorods. The amount of Ag3PO4 nanoparticles loaded on brookite TiO2 nanorods can be rationally optimized. These hybrid TiO2-Ag3PO4 nanorods could provide large surface area, extend the visible light absorption and facilitate the charge separation, leading to efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance. When evaluated as photocatalysts under visible light illumination, all the hybrid TiO2-Ag3PO4 nanorods exhibit high photocatalytic activity for degrading 2-propanol. Particularly, TiO2-Ag3PO4-3 enables the best photocatalytic property, which yields high acetone production of 147 ppm at 3 h and CO2 production of 424 ppm at 11 h.

  • Novel bio-inspired memetic salp swarm algorithm and application to MPPT for PV systems considering partial shading condition

    摘要: This paper proposes a novel bio-inspired optimization method named memetic salp swarm algorithm (MSSA). It is developed by extending the original salp swarm algorithm (SSA) with multiple independent salp chains, thus it can implement a wider exploration and a deeper exploitation under the memetic computing framework. In order to enhance the convergence stability, a virtual population based regroup operation is used for the global coordination between different salp chains. Due to partial shading condition (PSC) and fast time-varying weather conditions, photovoltaic (PV) systems may not be able to generate the global maximum power. Hence, MSSA is applied for an effective and efficient maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of PV systems under PSC. To evaluate the MPPT performance of the proposed algorithm, four case studies are undertaken using Matlab/Simulink, e.g., start-up test, step change of solar irradiation, ramp change of solar irradiation and temperature, and field atmospheric data of Hong Kong. The obtained PV system responses are compared to that of eight existing MPPT algorithms, such as incremental conductance (INC), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), artificial bees colony (ABC), cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), grey wolf optimizer (GWO), SSA, and teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO), respectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the output energy generated by MSSA in Spring in HongKong is 118.57%, 100.73%, 100.96%, 100.87%, 101.35%, 100.36%, 100.81%, and 100.22% to that of INC, GA, PSO, ABC, CSA, GWO, SSA, and TLBO, respectively. Lastly, a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiment using dSpace platform is undertaken to further validate the implementation feasibility of MSSA.

  • Design of Short-Term Forecasting Model of Distributed Generation Power for Solar Power Generation

    摘要: Background/Objectives: For efficient PhotoVoltaic (PV) power generation, computing and information technologies are increasingly used in irradiance forecasting and correction. Today the majority of PV modules are used for grid-connected power generation, so solar generation forecasting that predicts available PV output ahead is essential for integrating PV resources into electricity grids. This paper proposes a short-term solar power forecasting system that employs Neural Network (NN) models to forecast irradiance and PV power. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed system uses the weather observations of a ground weather station, the medium-term weather forecasts of a physical model, and the short-term weather forecasts of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model as input. To increase prediction accuracy, the proposed system performs forecast corrections and determines the correction coefficients based on the characteristics and temperature of PV modules. The proposed system also analyzes the inclination angle of PV modules to predict PV power outputs. Results: In the correlation analysis of the forecasted and measured irradiance, R2 was over 0.85 for all look-ahead periods, indicating a high correlation between the two data. Conclusion/Application: In the future, the proposed forecasting system for solar power generation resources will be further refined and run in real environments.

    摘要: This article presents the first advances of the Sustainable Electric Mobility project (MovES), within the framework of an institutional project of the National University of Rafaela (UNRaf), which consist of the calculation and design of a Off-Grid solar charging station that will supply a small fleet of light electric vehicles. There is also a brief review of the context of the EPACs and the existing regulations. The article concludes with the results obtained from the calculation that will be used for a future real implementation.

    摘要: In order to implement the national energy policy, the rail transit industry actively uses renewable energies such as solar energy to explore ways to cope with energy shortage, ease power shortage and guarantee sustainable development. In this paper, the feasibility, necessity and advantages of applying solar energy to urban rail transit are introduced. Based on the characteristics of urban rail transit, the principle and composition of solar photovoltaic power generation system are analyzed. The application of photovoltaic grid-connected power generation system to urban rail transit vehicle base is proposed Design principles, design of the program and the design of relevant protection measures. The successful cases of the pilot PV grid-connected power generation in China are summarized. It provides a new idea for the utilization of new energy in the current rail transit design. At the same time, Base roof photovoltaic power generation has done a large-scale promotion and development of accumulated experience for the follow-up project to provide design reference scheme for photovoltaic grid-connected power generation project has an important pioneering significance.

  • Monitoring investigation of solar diffuse fraction in Taiwan

    摘要: Global solar radiation, which passes through the atmosphere and arrives on earth’s ground, is composed of two constituents, that is, beam and diffuse radiation. It is agreed that the beam radiation is the only effective part for use of solar energy in concentrating either photovoltaic or solar thermal energy application, which concentrates the incident sunlight to attain high performance of either electrical power or high-temperature thermal energy generation, respectively. Information of beam radiation quantity incident upon an absorbing surface is, thus, a prerequisite for the performance evaluation of concentrating optic device. However, very few data of diffuse fraction, defined as the ratio of diffuse radiation to global radiation, is available in Taiwan. A long-time monitoring investigation in the main island (Taiwan proper) and one offshore islet (Penghu) were conducted over recent years. It was found that the annually averaged diffuse fractions, calculated with the time duration from sunrise to sunset, in the east (Taitung) and west (Tainan) sides of the main island were about 0.49 and 0.53, respectively, while about 0.50 in the offshore islet (Penghu). Seasonal variations due to geographical/topographical effects on diffuse fraction are also reported and discussed. It is found that Northeast Monsoon has remarkable effects on increment of diffuse fraction in Taitung and Penghu, while insignificant effect in Tainan.

  • Influence of the energy dependence of the absorption coefficient on the solar energy conversion efficiency

    摘要: In most cases, when the ef?ciencies of a single or multi-gap (with intermediate bands) solar cell are evaluated, the energy dependence of the absorption coef?cients is ignored. In this work we will evaluate the range of optical thickness and average absorption coef?cients in which this dependence should be considered. For this study we use different absorption coef?cients generated randomly as a function of the energy. In many practical cases, the ef?ciencies are lower than those expected.

  • Solar hydrogen production via alkaline water electrolysis

    摘要: Electricity generation via direct conversion of solar energy with zero carbon dioxide emission is essential from the aspect of energy supply security as well as from the aspect of environmental protection. Therefore, this paper presents a system for hydrogen production via water electrolysis using a 960 Wp solar power plant. The results obtained from the monitoring of photovoltaic modules mounted in pairs on a fixed, a single-axis and a dual-axis solar tracker were examined to determine if there is a possibility to couple them with an electrolyzer. Energy performance of each photovoltaic system was recorded and analyzed during a period of one year, and the data were monitored on an online software service. Estimated parameters, such as monthly solar irradiance, solar electricity production, optimal angle, monthly ambient temperature, and capacity factor were compared to the observed data. In order to get energy efficiency as high as possible, a novel alkaline electrolyzer of bipolar design was constructed. Its design and operating UI characteristic are described. The operating UI characteristics of photovoltaic modules were tuned to the electrolyzer operating UI characteristic to maximize production. The calculated hydrogen rate of production was 1.138 g per hour. During the study the system produced 1.234 MWh of energy, with calculated of 1.31 MWh, which could power 122 houses, and has offset 906 kg of carbon or an equivalent of 23 trees.

  • Effective solar power harnessing using a few novel solar tree designs and their performance assessment

    摘要: Solar irradiance being considered as one of the most important alternative sources of energy can be harnessed in the form of electrical power using photovoltaic panels erected under the sun. Optimum conversion of power from solar panels can be obtained by using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), which involves continuously adjusting the angle of panels according to the change in the angle of falling irradiance. These trackers, however, use some amount of power for operation of MPPT equipment. Various techniques for arranging the solar panels in three dimensions have been suggested for optimizing the output power from them. The inspiration behind arranging the panels are often drawn from the natural trees where the branches and the leaves follow a particular pattern called phyllotaxy which is directly analogous to the Fibonacci number and Golden ratio. In this research work, the power output from two solar tree models based on 3/8 and 2/5 phyllotaxy pattern and solar conventional panel compared under similar irradiance conditions. There are so many phyllotaxy patterns like 1/3, 2/5, 3/8, etc. When the solar panels aligned in different phyllotaxies, then the orientation direction of solar panels are distinct. Each solar panel connected in solar trees is in a different direction, so that they received the maximum amount of sunlight throughout the day as compared to conventional panels which is oriented unidirectional.

  • A universal solar simulator for focused and collimated beams

    摘要: This paper presents a 70 kWe indoor solar simulator for concentrating and non-concentrating (quasi-collimated light) solar applications. Three major subsystems compose this solar simulator: a lamp array, an optical integrator, and a collimating mirror. The lamp array consists of seven radiation modules, each comprising a 10 kWe xenon short-arc lamp coupled to a custom-designed re?ector in the shape of a truncated ellipsoid. The optical integrator and collimating mirror are applied to homogenize the intensity distribution of light and ?x the light angle. The solar simulator can continuously produce concentrated high-?ux, medium-?ux and non-concentrating quasi-collimated sunlight. For a focal plane with a 60 mm diameter circular target, the measured peak and mean radiative ?ux are 9200 kW/m2 and 5100 kW/m2, respectively, and the corresponding radiation power is 14.45 kW. For a 4 × 3 m rectangular quasi-collimated light area, the measured radiative ?ux, half divergence angle, and uniformity of the light are 0.94 kW/m2, 1.3°, and 92%, respectively. At 30% of the rated power output, the temperature of the parabolic trough receiver increases to 350 °C; while at 80% of the rated power output, the focused radiation can easily melt the metal of tantalum (in a quartz reactor), which corresponds to a melting temperature of more than 3290 K. The solar simulator can continuously produce concentrated high-?ux, medium-?ux and non-concentrating sunlight, which can serve as a universal experimental platform for solar energy research.
