Compact metamaterial inspired periwinkle shaped fractal antenna for multiband applications
摘要: A compact periwinkle flower shaped fractal antenna loaded with split-ring resonator on either side of the feedline is proposed in this article. The proposed antenna consists of partial ground on flipside and a periwinkle flower petal is located on the rectangular patch. The proposed antenna works in multiband i.e., at 4.1GHz,4.5GHz,4.8Ghz(S-band) at 6.7GHz,6.75GHz(C-band) at 9.4GHz(X-band) and at 12.7(ku) i.e., proposed antenna covers almost one frequency at all radar frequency bands. The proposed antenna has been analyzed and maximum gain of 4dB and radiation efficiency of 87 percent is observed.

[Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering] Proceedings of the Tiangong-2 Remote Sensing Application Conference Volume 541 (Technology, Method and Application) || Analysis of Slope and NDVI Effects on Land Surface Temperature Retrieval Accuracy in Mountain Area Based on WIS Data of Tiangong-2
摘要: The relationship between land surface temperature (LST) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is evaluated in mountain areas using the Wide-band Imaging Spectrometer (WIS) data on Chinese Tiangong-2 (TG-2) Space Lab. The WIS is composed of three regions: Visible Near-Infrared (VNIR) (14 channels), Short-Wave Infrared (SW) (2 channels), and Thermal Infrared (TIR) (2 channels). The two TIR channels, T1 (8.125–8.825 lm) and T2 (8.925–9.275 lm) have not been fully exploited to extract LST. Thus, a modi?ed split window method was proposed to retrieve LST and evaluated by comparing to the MODIS LST product. Then, the LST retrieval accuracy affected by slope and NDVI is analyzed. Results show that: (a) TG-2 LST is positively correlated to MODIS LST (R2 = 0.74) but overestimated (about 3.5 K); further improvement on the split window method is still needed; (b) the TG-2 LST accuracy is different in vegetation and non-vegetation area, where non-vegetation area with small NDVI standard deviation has better agreement between MODIS LST and TG-2 than vegetation area; (c) the LST retrieval accuracy in vegetation area is independent on slopes; while increasing with the slope in non-vegetation area.

摘要: This paper deals with the design and simulation of a Split Ring Resonator (SRR) for the detection of leaks, corrosion and cracks in pipeline networks intended for transporting crude oil, natural gas, petroleum products and other fluid products. The designed SRR is tuned to a resonant frequency of 6.1 GHz and is simulated using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) tool to detect the ruptures in pipeline coatings made of FR4 epoxy. The designed SRR is mounted on a Rogers substrate above the FR4 epoxy coating and shows a notable variation in the resonant frequency and quality factor whenever gaps are detected between the coating and the pipeline, which can be used for checking the pipeline integrity.

Stability-Improved ADE-FDTD Method for Wideband Modeling of Graphene Structures
摘要: A stability-improved auxiliary differential equation (ADE) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is developed for broadband modelling graphene-based devices in this paper. By introducing an electric polarization term characterized with an auxiliary equation, the graphene sheet is incorporated into the FDTD method without decreasing the Courant–Friedrich–Levy (CFL) number. The stability condition is analyzed and numerical experiments are carried out to validate the proposed method with analytical results. It is further applied to investigate some properties of metal-graphene Split-Ring Resonator (SRR).

摘要: This paper focuses on converged optical-wireless 5G infrastructures and proposes the novel concept of “Dis-Aggregated RAN” (DA-RAN) as an alternative to the RAN and C-RAN solutions. DA-RAN adopts the concept of “disaggregation” of hardware and software components across the wireless, optical and compute/storage domains. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated through a service provisioning model that takes into consideration both the description of the heterogeneous 5G network and the processor details within the BBUs. Modeling results show significant benefits in terms of power consumption that range between 10-50%

摘要: This article focuses on the application of split ring resonator based sensor for follow up recovery of lower extremity trauma patients. The proposed sensor mainly monitors the changes of dielectric properties of lower limb tissues such as skin, fat, muscle and bone. As part of the characterization of microwave sensor, it is crucial to assess the signal penetration in in-vivo tissues. This work presents a new approach for investigating the penetration depth of Split Ring Resonator sensor in in-vivo context of the femoral area. The method is based on the measurement of skin, fat, and muscle tissue thicknesses from ultrasound images. The microwave reflectivity, S11 measurements are done in conjunction with ultrasound measurements on four volunteers to deduce the effective permittivity of the in-vivo tissues. The tissue thickness information derived from ultrasound measurements were used to create 3D simulation model in CST studio 2017. The measured S11 values are used to optimize the effective permittivity of that model. The penetration depths are calculated from the simulation of electric field distribution in the optimized model. The analysis on measured data shows that the thigh region contributes highest penetration depth up to 17.5mm. This result has higher significance in demonstrating the in-vitro penetration depth measurements and other tests which are going to be performed in the future.

摘要: In this work, a bridge element approach based on the circular SRR configuration is proposed for accurate measurement in terms of complex permittivity and the loss tangent. It is observed that the proposed inter-connected bridge structure based on split ring resonator provides better sensitivity for dielectric measurement when compared with the standard microwave SRR sensors. The sensor operating at 1 to 6 GHz frequency range with 2.5μL sample volume at a time. The mathematical derivation is generated by loading sample with a standard reference of the materials in order to develop the empirical model for the determination of complex permittivity and the loss tangent. As demonstrated by the results, the unloaded Q-factor improves more than 400 over the narrow bandwidth at operating frequency of 2.3 GHz and provides less than 5 dB of the insertion loss. The measured data of each sample are in good agreement with the corresponding reference values available in the literature having a typical average detection error of less than 2.04%. By comparison, this design has an identical performance goal and provides excellent sensing capability which can be implemented in chemical and biosensor applications.

Comprehensive Remote Sensing || Land Surface Temperature Product Development for JPSS and GOES-R Missions
摘要: Land surface temperature (LST) is defined by the International LST and Emissivity Working Group as a measure of how hot or cold the surface of the Earth would feel to the touch. For ground-based, airborne, and space-borne remote sensing instruments it is the aggregated radiometric surface temperatures of all components within the sensor’s field of view in the direction of observation, or 'ensemble directional radiometric temperature.' As one of the most important parameters in the weather and climate system controlling surface heat and water exchange between the land and the atmosphere (Yu et al., 2012), LST has recently been listed as one of the Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) by the Global Climate Observation System (GCOS) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Knowledge of the LST provides information on the temporal and spatial variations of the surface equilibrium state and is of fundamental importance in many applications (Li et al., 2013). This thermodynamic variable has been widely used in a variety of fields such as numerical weather prediction models and data assimilation systems (Meng et al., 2009; Zheng et al., 2012; Trigo et al., 2015), evapotranspiration evaluation (Sun et al., 2012; Galleguillos et al., 2011), irrigation and hydrological cycle particularly agricultural drought monitoring (Anderson et al., 2011, 2012; Karnieli et al., 2010), and urban heat island monitoring (Rajasekar and Weng, 2009; Weng et al., 2004).

Second Harmonic Light Manipulation with Vertical Split Ring Resonators
摘要: The second harmonic generation (SHG) of vertical and planar split-ring resonators (SRRs) that are broken centro-symmetry configurations at the interface of metal surface and air is investigated. Strong interactions, better electromagnetic field confinements, and less leakage into the substrate for vertical SRRs are found. Experimental results show a 2.6-fold enhancement of SHG nonlinearity, which is in good agreement with simulations and calculations. Demonstrations of 3D metastructures and vertical SRRs with strong SHG nonlinearity majorly result from magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole clearly provides potential applications for photonics and sensing.
