Comparison of Currenta??Voltage Response to Diagnostic X-rays of Five Light-Emitting Diode Strips
摘要: Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have miscellaneous applications owing to their low cost, small size, flexibility, and commercial availability. Furthermore, LEDs have dual applicability as light emitters and detectors. This study explores the current–voltage (C–V) response of LED strips exposed to diagnostic x-rays. Cold white, warm white, red, green, and blue LED strip colors were tested. Each strip consisted of 12 LED chips and was connected to a multimeter. The variable diagnostic x-ray parameters evaluated were kilovoltage peak (kVp), milliampere-seconds (mAs), and source-to-image distance (SID). The radiation dose was also measured using a dosimeter simultaneously exposed to x-rays perpendicularly incident on the strips. Lastly, the consistency of C–V responses, and any possible degradation after 1–2 months was also analyzed. Each LED strip color was ranked according to its C–V response in each of the investigated parameters. The LED strip color with the best cumulative rank across all the tested parameters was then examined for reproducibility. Our findings revealed that the C–V responses of LED strips are (a) generally low but measurable, (b) inconsistent and fluctuating as a consequence of kVp variations, (c) positively correlated to mAs, (d) negatively correlated to SID, and (e) positively correlated to dose. Overall results suggested cold white LED strip as most feasible for x-ray detection—in comparison to examined colors. Additionally, the reproducibility study using the cold white LED strip found a similar trend of C–V response to all variables except kVp. Outcomes indicate that LED strips have the potential to be exploited for detecting low dose (~0–100 mGy) diagnostic x-rays. However, future studies should be carried out to increase the low C–V signal.

Fluorometric lateral flow immunoassay for simultaneous determination of three mycotoxins (aflatoxin B1, zearalenone and deoxynivalenol) using quantum dot microbeads
摘要: A fluorometric lateral flow immunoassay (LFA) is described for the simultaneous determination of the mycotoxins aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), zearalenone (ZEN) and deoxynivalenol (DON). The method is based on the use of CdSe/SiO2 quantum dot microbeads (QBs) with a mean diameter of 106 nm. These have strong red luminescence (with excitation/emission peaks at 365/622 nm) which results in enhanced sensitivity. The QBs binding with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) as the signal probes can react specifically with AFB1, ZEN and DON, respectively. There is an inverse correlation between the fluorescence signal intensity of test line and the analyte content, which can realize the quantitative analysis of analytes within 15 min. The limits of detection in solution are 10, 80 and 500 pg mL?1 for AFB1, ZEN and DON, respectively. Besides, the average recoveries from spiked feed range from 85.5 to 119.0%, and the relative standard deviations are less than 16.4% for both intra- and inter-day assays. The method was used to analyze naturally contaminated feedstuff, and this resulted in a good agreement with data obtained by LC-MS/MS.

Coupling Between Silicon Waveguide and Metal-Dielectric-Metal Plasmonic Waveguide with Lens-Funnel Structure
摘要: Various photonic integrated components have been implemented by ultra-thin silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguides; therefore, it is desirable to couple ultra-thin SOI waveguides to plasmonic waveguides. In this paper, we present an ultra-thin SOI waveguide to a metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguide based on a lens-funnel structure consisting of truncated Luneburg lens and metallic parabolic funnel. The lens is implemented by varying the guiding layer thickness. The effect of different parameters of the coupler’s geometry is studied using the finite-difference time-domain method. The 1.13-μm-long coupler improves the average coupling efficiency in the C-band from 66.4 to 82.1%. The numerical simulations indicate that the coupling efficiency is higher than 69% in the entire O, E, S, C, L, and U bands of optical communication.

Sensitivity enhancement of silicon strip waveguide ring resonator by incorporating a thin metal film
摘要: In this work, we proposed a metal-assisted silicon strip waveguide design for highly sensitive refractive index sensing applications. To prove the superiority of our proposed design, we make a fair comparison with the standard silicon strip waveguide of comparable geometry. In metal-assisted waveguide structure, a thin SiO2 layer is sandwiched between gold and silicon strip waveguide. The transmission spectrum and E-field distribution of these structures are simulated using 3D-Finite Element Method (FEM). In the first part of the paper, we demonstrated the enhancement of the evanescent field in the upper cladding region of a straight strip waveguide which makes it an ideal candidate for evanescent field gas absorption sensor. In the second part, we designed a metal-assisted silicon strip waveguide ring resonator of radius 1.5 μm and verified its higher sensitivity, Q-factor and figure of merit compared to standard ring resonator. The maximum sensitivity of 300 nm/RIU is obtained which is ~67% higher than the sensitivity of a standard ring resonator design when sandwiched SiO2 layer is equal to 50 nm in our proposed design. We believe that our study will provide new favourable circumstances to design sensors with improved sensitivity.

Development of Shape Meter Employing LED Dot Pattern Projection Method for Hot Strip Finishing Mill; LEDドットパターン投影法による熱延鋼板平坦度計の開発;
摘要: In recent years, in order to improve the fuel efficiency of automobiles by reducing their weight with maintaining strength, the thinner thickness and higher strength steel sheets tends to be used as their construction materials. For stable and accurate production of these sheets, it is very important for these to be flattened at hot strip rolling process. Therefore, to realize accurate AFC (Automatic Flatness Control), a new shape meter which employed LED dot pattern projection method was developed. This is consist of LED dot pattern projector which can project the staggered periodic dot pattern, formed of 1200 power LED chips, on the rolled strip and area camera which captures the image of projected pattern. Then, instantaneous strip flatness is measured by analyzing the pattern pitch correlative with inclination angle. The shape meter was installed at the hot strip finishing mill exit and evaluated its measurement accuracy and stability. As a result, its inclination angle measurement error was within 0.45 degrees (two sigma) by comparing with the set angle of standard target and the measured flatness of rolling strip was consistent with the visually observed one. Its measurement success rate per entire coil was exceeded above 98.5%. These results indicated that the developed shape meter would be able to apply to the AFC. In addition, applying the measured flatness to the AFC of the work roll bender and leveling, it was confirmed that the strip flatness was improved in a short time.

Effective approach to enhance DC and high-frequency performance of electrically doped TFET
摘要: The need to overcome the shortcomings of conventional tunnel ?eld-effect transistor (TFET) has driven many to come up with advanced TFET innovations. This Letter presents a comparative analysis of new techniques to enhance DC/radio-frequency (RF) performance of dopingless TFETs. In this regard, two advanced structures have been compared along with conventional electrically doped TFET. The devices – electrically doped TFET, low work-function strip electrically doped TFET and low work-function live strip electrically doped TFET are investigated in terms of DC, RF and linearity. This Letter focuses on electrical doping on dopingless substrate to reduce random dopant ?uctuations and fabrication complications. The comparative analysis illustrates the importance of low work-function live strip (LWLS) over low work-function strip (LWS). In addition, an optimisation of length and position of LWS and LWLS is also investigated for providing fabrication ease.

Impact of a metal-strip on a polarity-based electrically doped TFET for improvement of DC and analog/RF performance
摘要: To achieve a steep subthreshold slope (SS) and a better ION/IOFF ratio is a major concern for switching applications in semiconductor devices. To overcome these issues, the tunnel field effect transistor (TFET) is a promising device, as it has low leakage current and a low subthreshold slope at room temperature, making it a highly useful device for ultra-lower circuit applications. However, physical doping leads to random doping fluctuations, which is a serious issue in device technology. For this purpose, we report an electrically doped TFET with a metal strip implanted in the oxide layer between the channel/source junction to improve the performance of the device in terms of steep SS and ION/IOFF at very small gate voltage. Furthermore, we have considered the appropriate length and work function of the metal strip to maintain the improved SS and ION/IOFF ratio. The introduction of a metal strip in the oxide layer on a conventional device offers a higher ION/IOFF ratio on the order of 108, steep subthreshold slope (Point SS = 8.07 mV/decade) and significant change in analog/RF performance. The analog/RF figures of merit are observed in terms of transconductance (gm), gate-to-drain capacitance (Cgd), cutoff frequency ( fT ), and gain bandwidth product. The proposed device would be very useful for ultra-low power and high frequency circuit applications at low gate voltages. All simulated results are carried out using 2-D ATLAS software.

摘要: Losses in the phase shifters of phased arrays are one of the main limitations of these reconfigurable antennas. This contribution presents the design and measured results of variable phase shifters on triplicate suspended transmission lines in the microwave X-band for variable pointing radar applications. The antenna assembly remains passive and with a very low level of losses in the power distribution network and the phase shifters. PIN or varactor diodes are used to control the load on the transmission line. Each of these components has advantages and disadvantages that are discussed in the communication.

摘要: A novel compact micro-strip mono-pulse antenna array is proposed. The antenna unit use L-shaped coupling feed. Then a 4 × 4 planar circularly polarized planar mono-pulse antenna array is made up. A broadband feeding network which is composed of the sum-difference network and four power dividers is designed. The simulation results show that a gain peak value of 19dBic and51.9% of efficiency at 2.2G Hz have been obtained, the 3 dB axial-ratio bandwidth can reach 36% (2.05-2.75GHz), and the impedance bandwidth of the antenna is reach 45% (1.75GHz-2.75GHz), respectively. It fully shows that the two antenna arrays have high gain, wide bandwidth and circular polarization, which proves the validity of the design method.

RFID TAG ANTENNA FOR METALLIC OR NON-METALLIC SURFACES
摘要: A capacitively fed rectangular patch antenna for anti-metal RFID tag was studied. It was found that by using capacitively feeding and a thin micro-strip line, the input impedance could be stabilized with respect to ground plane size. As a result, the reading range degradation was avoided, and the presented antennas have almost the same reading range when used on metal or non-metal objects. The mechanism was explained by a basic antenna design and a transmission line model. Then a more practical compact design having much smaller size was presented. Prototypes of both the basic design and the compact design were fabricated and tested. The testing results validated the effectiveness of the designing method.
