    摘要: Wireless energy transfer gains from the option of receiving power from multiple sources with different power levels. This paper presents a rectifier that maintains good efficiency over a wide input power range at 2.45 GHz frequency using a MOSFET as the voltage controlled switch (VCS). The VCS performs a ‘handover’ function between a low threshold voltage diode and a high breakdown voltage diode in a seamless manner without interrupting power supply to the load. This topology has only so far produced good results at lower frequencies. An L-matching network is used to achieve impedance matching over the input power range at 2.45 GHz with the help of a blocking capacitor acting as a high pass filter. Simulated results show that the rectifier can maintain its RF to DC conversion efficiency above 50% from 3 to 23.8 dBm. A peak efficiency of 73% at 16.6 dBm is also recorded.

    摘要: One method of mitigating arc flash hazards associated with medium-voltage switchgear is the installation of active high-speed switch (HSS) systems. These systems are designed to detect and quench a burning internal arc in less than one-third of one electrical cycle. The internal arc is extinguished by the HSS’s action of redirecting the fault current path from arcing through open air back to the intended current path of the switchgear bus. The new low-impedance current path provided by the HSS operation collapses the voltage at the point of the fault to near zero so that the arc is no longer sustainable. The system’s high speed of operation compared to arc quenching via circuit breaker tripping translates directly to lower arc flash incident energy and minimal equipment damage. Another benefit of such active high speed systems could include switchgear compliance to the IEEE C37.20.7 guide for testing arc-resistant metal-enclosed switchgear without any arc by-product venting requirements. This paper explores application considerations of HSS systems relative to other available means of controlling and reducing the hazards of internal arcing faults in medium-voltage switchgear.

    摘要: With the continuous improvement of grid-connected photovoltaic power station capacity, the influence on the reliable operation of backup automatic switch equipment in the distribution network is also increasing. The impact of PV on the backup automatic switch is mainly due to the fact that after the bus line is de-energized, the PV will continue to supply power to the busbar, which will affect the judgment of the busbar without pressure. In this paper, according to the setting value of backup automatic switch protection commonly used in distribution network, under different load-to-source capacity ratio, the influence of PV on the reliability of the backup automatic switch action and the change of the bus voltage of the PV-connected busbar after the main supply line is de-energized are quantitatively analyzed. Through simulation verification, it is proposed that the most fundamental method to avoid the influence of PV on backup automatic switch is to disconnect the PV power station after failure or loss of system power supply, so as to prevent the occurrence of isolated islands.

    摘要: A particle filter (PF)-based robust navigation with fault diagnosis (FD) is designed for an underwater robot, where 10 failure modes of sensors and thrusters are considered. The nominal underwater robot and its anomaly are described by a switching-mode hidden Markov model. By extensively running a PF on the model, the FD and robust navigation are achieved. Closed-loop full-scale experimental results show that the proposed method is robust, can diagnose faults effectively, and can provide good state estimation even in cases where multiple faults occur. Comparing with other methods, the proposed method can diagnose all faults within a single structure, diagnose simultaneous faults, and it is easily implemented.

  • CdSe/CdMnS Nanoplatelets with Bilayer Core and Magnetically Doped Shell Exhibit Switchable Excitonic Circular Polarization: Implications for Lasers and Light-Emitting Diodes

    摘要: We utilized time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) spectroscopy to study the excitonic circular polarization (PX) from CdSe/CdMnS core/shell nanoplatelets (NPLs) with a bilayer core. This allows an extensive study of the emission dynamics as a function of magnetic ?eld, temperature, doping concentration, and excitation wavelength. In the presence of an external magnetic ?eld, pulsed excitation below the shell gap results in near-zero excitonic circular polarization PX at all time delays. In contrast, pulsed excitation with photon energy larger than the shell gap results in a rapid (100 ps) buildup of the excitonic circular polarization which subsequently remains constant at a level of up to 40%. We propose a model to describe the dynamics which takes into account the exchange interaction between carrier and magnetic ion (Mn) spins. The studied system exhibits a fast switchable excitonic circular polarization, implying possible applications in lasers and light emitting diodes.

  • Influence of Electrode Configurations on the Interruption Capacity of Laser Triggered Vacuum Switch

    摘要: The electrode configurations have an important effect on the interruption performances of laser triggered vacuum switch (LTVS), but few works pay attention to it so far. The objective of this article is to study the interruption capacity of LTVS with different electrode configurations. The 3-D simulation models of axial magnetic field (AMF) electrode and transverse magnetic field (TMF) electrode are built up, and the magnetic field distributions are calculated and compared. The test platform is set up based on a detachable vacuum chamber. The interruption capacity of LTVS with different electrode structures, electrode spacings, and polarity configurations is studied and analyzed. The test results prove that, compared to the AMF electrode, the interruption capacity of LTVS under the TMF electrode is obviously better, but it is more susceptible to the electrode spacing, and gradually decreases with the increase of electrode spacing. Influence of polarity configuration on the interruption capacity of LTVS is closely related to the target material. The LTVS with KCl + Ti under the positive polarity configuration shows better interruption capacity than negative polarity configuration. The works in this article provide references for the design of LTVS products.

  • Mesh-Structure-Enabled Programmable Multi-Task Photonic Signal Processor on a Silicon Chip

    摘要: Photonic integrated circuits (PIC) have recently attracted extensive attention in advanced photonic signal processing to meet the ever-increasing demands on high-speed and ultra-compact data signal management. However, programmable and multi-task photonic signal processing is still full of challenges, especially the scalable photonic integration solution. Here, we design, fabricate and demonstrate a mesh-structure-enabled programmable multi-task photonic signal processor on a silicon chip. It relies on a scalable 2D mesh structure network with a number of hexagonal unit cells formed by building blocks of tunable Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZIs). We study several simple and complex optical filtering functions using configured single ring resonator, cascaded ring resonators, ring assisted MZI, cascaded MZIs, reconfigurable and tunable comb filter and (de)interleaver, and dual-injection ring resonators. For the proof-of-concept demonstration of on-chip programmable multi-task photonic signal processing, a monolithically integrated silicon chip with four hexagonal unit cells is fabricated with greatly reduced geometric dimension. By appropriately adjusting the thermo-optic phase shifters of MZIs, versatile programmable multi-task photonic signal processing functions are demonstrated in the experiment with impressive performance, including single ring resonator, cascaded ring resonators, asymmetric MZI, ring assisted MZI, optical delay line, multi-port router, N×N optical switch, and optical neural network (ONN) enabled self-configurable router and switch and their practical applications in fiber-optic communication systems. The demonstrations may open up new perspectives for on-chip solutions to ultra-compact, reconfigurable, programmable and multi-functional data signal management in advanced optical communication networks.

  • Ultracompact and dynamically tunable plasmonic THz switch based on graphene microcavity metamaterial

    摘要: We propose and discuss a compact and tunable plasmonic terahertz (THz) metamaterial switch based on graphene micro-cavity. Due to the joint effect of graphene plasmon resonances and Fabry–Perot oscillations, this metamaterial structure can be switched from the ON state to OFF state with the maximum intensity attenuation larger than 95% (ON–OFF ratio larger than 30 dB). The central frequency of the switch could be tuned in a wide frequency range from 3.6 to 9.6 THz by tuning the Fermi energies of the graphene patterns. Moreover, the metamaterial structure is valid for a wide range of incident angles of both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations with the highest Q factor of 15.5. This investigation promises the development of high-performance, widely tunable THz switch in chip integrated photonic circuits without reconstructing the physical structures.

  • A Synchronously Self-Q-Switched and Self-Mode-Locked Fiber Laser with a Compound Resonator

    摘要: We demonstrate a synchronously self-Q-switched and self-mode-locked output pulse ?ber laser based on a linear compound resonator and an LD cladding-pumped Yb-doped double-clad ?ber. A maximum average output power of 332.1 mW is achieved. We observe that the maximum pulse envelope width is 8 μs, and the pulse energy is 3.83 μJ for the self-Q-switched pulse envelope. At the same time, the achieved maximum pulse width is 37.8 ns and pulse energy is 17.61 nJ for the self-mode-locked pulse. We observe the pulse splitting of the self-Q-switched envelope as well and achieve 14 subpulse packets for L1 = 180 mm. There are 75 self-mode-locked pulses in single packets.

    摘要: This paper presents realization and characteristics of broadband plastic low cost packaged 5G High Power Frond-End (HPFE) operating in 24-31GHz bandwidth. This demonstrator includes a Transmit and Receive paths realized on mixed technologies: 150nm Gallium Nitride on Silicon Carbide (AlGaN/GaN on SiC) and 150nm Gallium Arsenide (GaAs). Continuous Wave (CW) measured power results of the Transmit path (Tx) demonstrates a maximum output power (POUT,Tx) higher than 2W (33.5dBm) with 25% drain efficiency (DE), 24% power added efficiency (PAE), and 36dB of insertion gain (GI,Tx) in the 24-31GHz bandwidth. The receiver path (Rx) presents an maximum output power (POUT,Rx) of 30mW (15.5dBm) and an average Noise Figure (NF) of 3.6dB with an associated Insertion Gain (GI,Rx) of 20dB in the same bandwidth. The HPFE/Tx linearity has been investigated with several M-QAM modulation signals with 25/50 and 100MHz channel spacing and using Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) leading to 48dBc Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) and 40dB Mean Squared Error (MSE) for average output powers ranging from linearity performances have been 17dBm to 25dBm. The compared to the ones obtained with two other linear GaAs amplifiers to point telecommunications application: the HPFE presents similar linearity performances associated to a higher efficiency. Thanks to the mixed technologies approach, an optimized trade-off in terms of integration, electrical performances and cost has been demonstrated.
