  • Visual Detail Augmented Mapping for Small Aerial Target Detection

    摘要: Moving target detection plays a primary and pivotal role in avionics visual analysis, which aims to completely and accurately detect moving objects from complex backgrounds. However, due to the relatively small sizes of targets in aerial video, many deep networks that achieve success in normal size object detection are usually accompanied by a high rate of false alarms and missed detections. To address this problem, we propose a novel visual detail augmented mapping approach for small aerial target detection. Concretely, we first present a multi-cue foreground segmentation algorithm including motion and grayscale information to extract potential regions. Then, based on the visual detail augmented mapping approach, the regions that might contain moving targets are magnified to multi-resolution to obtain detailed target information and rearranged into new foreground space for visual enhancement. Thus, original small targets are mapped to a more efficient foreground augmented map which is favorable for accurate detection. Finally, driven by the success of deep detection network, small moving targets can be well detected from aerial video. Experiments extensively demonstrate that the proposed method achieves success in small aerial target detection without changing the structure of the deep network. In addition, compared with the-state-of-art object detection algorithms, it performs favorably with high efficiency and robustness.

  • A new CFAR algorithm based on variable window for ship target detection in SAR images

    摘要: Target detection in the multiscale situation where there exit multiple ship targets with different sizes is a challenging task due to the mismatch of the sizes of ship targets and fixed windows. A new constant false alarm rate (CFAR) algorithm based on variable window for ship target detection in SAR images is proposed. First, the multiscale local contrast measure is introduced to estimate the ship target size without any prior knowledge about ships. Second, the size of neighborhood area is adaptively set and a transform algorithm is designed to enhance the contrast between targets and background. Finally, CFAR detection is implemented by adopting variable window to gain the accurate ship targets. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm has better performance compared with other CFAR detection algorithms.

  • Moving Target Detection Based on the Spreading Characteristics of SAR Interferograms in the Magnitude-Phase Plane

    摘要: We propose a constant false alarm rate (CFAR) algorithm for moving target detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images based on the spreading characteristics of interferograms on the magnitude-phase (M-P) plane. This method is based on the observation that, in practice, both moving and stationary targets along with clutter are located at different regions in the M-P plane, and hence reasonable partitions of the M-P plane can help in detecting moving targets. To ensure efficient CFAR detection and to resolve the effect of factors that influence detection results, the proposed algorithm is divided into three distinct stages: coarse detection, fine detection, and post-processing. First, to accurately describe the statistical behavior of clutter, a global censoring strategy, called coarse detection, is introduced to adaptively eliminate the influences of the moving and stationary target points from the given data. Then, to acquire fine detection results, a novel CFAR detector is developed on the basis of the fits of a known theoretical M-P joint probability density function (PDF) against the two-dimensional (2-D) histogram of the censored clutter. The joint PDF's projected contour line that satisfies the desirable probability of false alarm (PFA) corresponds to the required threshold of detection in the M-P plane. Finally, two filters, the magnitude and phase filters, are applied to reduce the false alarms generated from the previous procedures. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through experimental results obtained from a two-channel SAR complex image.

    摘要: When synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging is applied to observe ground scene containing a moving target, the imagery of moving target will be typically smeared due to range cell-migration and Doppler spectrum broadening caused by the target motions, especially for the accelerating targets within a long observation time. To eliminate these effects, a novel imaging algorithm using cooperative between SAR under high-orbit and low-orbit satellites is proposed. The range migration including range walk and range curvature within the coherent integration period has been corrected via the third-order keystone transform. Then, by estimating and compensating the phase errors and the fold factor terms, the target’s resolution is improved and the motion parameters are correctly estimated. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by simulations.

    摘要: The development and implementation of a GPS-Reflectometry (GPS-R) simulator for the ocean target detection application is proposed, with the objective of assessing and characterizing the capability of GPS-R as a new method for sea surface target detection. The novel idea is to use a backscattering configuration to enhance the electromagnetic return from the target compared to the surrounding ocean. Hence the backscattering simulator simulates images of GPS echoes from one or more targets embedded in an ocean clutter, and its outputs will be analysed as a function of hardware parameters, geometry, and signal processing approaches to determine the target detectability. Some preliminary results related to the backscattering simulations from both ocean and target will be presented.

  • Underwater Target Detection and 3D Reconstruction System Based on Binocular Vision

    摘要: To better solve the problem of target detection in marine environment and to deal with the difficulty of 3D reconstruction of underwater target, a binocular vision-based underwater target detection and 3D reconstruction system is proposed in this paper. Two optical sensors are used as the vision of the system. Firstly, denoising and color restoration are performed on the image sequence acquired by the vision of the system and the underwater target is segmented and extracted according to the image saliency using the super-pixel segmentation method. Secondly, aiming to reduce mismatch, we improve the semi-global stereo matching method by strictly constraining the matching in the valid target area and then optimizing the basic disparity map within each super-pixel area using the least squares fitting interpolation method. Finally, based on the optimized disparity map, triangulation principle is used to calculate the three-dimensional data of the target and the 3D structure and color information of the target can be given by MeshLab. The experimental results show that for a specific size underwater target, the system can achieve higher measurement accuracy and better 3D reconstruction effect within a suitable distance.

    摘要: Infrared small target detection plays an important role in infrared monitoring and early warning systems. This paper proposes a local adaptive contrast measure for robust infrared small target detection using gray and variance di?erence. First, a size-adaptive gray-level target enhancement process is performed. Then, an improved multiscale variance di?erence method is proposed for target enhancement and cloud clutter removal. To demonstrate the e?ectiveness of the proposed approach, a test dataset consisting of two infrared image sequences with di?erent backgrounds was collected. Experiments on the test dataset demonstrate that the proposed infrared small target detection method can achieve better detection performance than the state-of-the-art approaches.

  • Full-spectrum periodic nonlinear Fourier transform optical communication through solving the Riemann-Hilbert problem

    摘要: An algorithm is proposed for the detection and joint estimation of target parameters for a radar with a two-element rotating antenna. Rotation of the antenna introduces unwanted effects, which may cause inaccuracy in the parameter estimation. Target detection is performed by adding the processed data from two sensors. Joint estimation of range, Doppler, and direction of arrival (DOA) is carried while compensating the effects of antenna rotation. The detection performance is analyzed in terms of the receiver operating characteristics. Analytical expressions of Cramer–Rao Bound for Doppler, the range and DOA are derived. Computational complexity is also discussed. A simulation demonstrates and veri?es the proposed algorithm and its analyses.

  • Loss of target information in full pixel and subpixel target detection in hyperspectral data with and without dimensionality reduction

    摘要: In most hyperspectral target detection applications, targets are usually small and require both spatial as well as spectral detection. Hyperspectral imaging facilitates target detection (TD) applications greatly, however, due to large spectral content, hyperspectral data requires dimensionality reduction (DR) which also leads to loss of target information both at full pixel and subpixel level. Literature reports many DR and TD algorithms in practice. Several studies have focussed on assessing the loss of target information in DR, however, not much work seems to have been done to assess loss of target information in full pixel and subpixel TD in hyperspectral data with and without DR. This paper seeks to study various combinations of DR techniques combined with full pixel and subpixel TD algorithms. The results indicate that in the case of full pixel targets, both DR and TD contribute to the loss of target information, however, there is more loss of target information in the case when DR precedes TD in comparison to a case where TD is applied without DR. In the case of subpixel TD, however, there appears to be loss of subpixel target information in the case where TD alone is performed in comparison to a case where DR precedes TD.
