  • A Study of Two Dimensional Tomography Reconstruction of Temperature and Gas Concentration in a Combustion Field Using TDLAS

    摘要: Based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), two-dimensional (2D) distribution reconstructions of gas concentration and temperature are realized using an algebraic reconstruction technique (ART). The influence of the beam distribution and grid size on combustion field reconstruction is investigated to attain optimal reconstruction results with a limited number of beams. Under limited optical-path numbers, it shows that a better spatial resolution is attainable only when the laser beam paths are vertical and parallel to the symmetry axis of the combustion field. Furthermore, experiments with 16 beam paths using one and two flat flame combustion fields are carried out in different fuel-air equivalence ratios under room temperature. The results are in agreement with the simulation results, and the time resolution is less than 1 s.

  • Evaluation of methods for gravity wave extraction from middle-atmospheric lidar temperature measurements

    摘要: This study evaluates commonly used methods of extracting gravity-wave-induced temperature perturbations from lidar measurements. The spectral response of these methods is characterized with the help of a synthetic data set with known temperature perturbations added to a realistic background temperature profile. The simulations are carried out with the background temperature being either constant or varying in time to evaluate the sensitivity to temperature perturbations not caused by gravity waves. The different methods are applied to lidar measurements over New Zealand, and the performance of the algorithms is evaluated. We find that the Butterworth filter performs best if gravity waves over a wide range of periods are to be extracted from lidar temperature measurements. The running mean method gives good results if only gravity waves with short periods are to be analyzed.

  • Open-path Halon 1301 NDIR sensor with temperature compensation

    摘要: Halon 1301 (bromotrifluoromethane) is a kind of fire extinguishing agent in aviation industry. Volume concentration measurement of Halon 1301 is necessary in the design of aircraft fire protection systems. In this research, an open-path Halon 1301 non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor has been developed for in-situ measurement, a novel cavity-type absorption module was designed to get fast response and more compact structure. Experiment results show that measurement was remarkably affected by temperature. Therefore, temperature compensation algorithm was also studied in this thesis, which was proven to be effective within the range of 25 oC-105 oC.

  • The upconversion photoluminescence and temperature sensing abilities of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-9PbTiO3 crystals induced by Er3+/Yb3+ doping

    摘要: Er3+/Yb3+-doped Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-9PbTiO3 ferroelectric crystals were grown by the high-temperature solution method. The micromorphology, phase structure, and upconversion photoluminescence of obtained crystals were analyzed and investigated. As the results suggest, the crystals displayed typical lamellar growth and possessed a pure perovskite structure. Excited by a 980 nm laser, the characteristic upconversion (UC) emissions of Er3+ were observed at room temperature. The luminescence intensity improved with the increasing of excitation power and reached its maximum at 1056 mW. Two-photon process was demonstrated at lower power range. As the temperature increased from 213 to 493 K, the luminescence intensity weakened continuously. An apparent difference in variation trend between two thermally coupled levels (2H11/2 and 4S3/2) was also observed, which was ascribed to the redistribution of electrons at two levels at the heating process. Based on this dependence, the temperature sensing abilities were examined with the help of the fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) technique. The absolute sensitivity SA increased in the measurement temperature range and its maximum of 0.0033 K-1 was obtained at 493 K. Moreover, low conversion from incident light into heat was also demonstrated, which indicates the feasibility for crystal luminescence at high power pumping. These results make Er3+/Yb3+-doped Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-9PbTiO3 crystals become a promising candidate in optical devices and temperature sensors.

  • Variable-Temperature Resonance Raman Studies to Probe Interchain Ordering for Semiconducting Conjugated Polymers with Different Chain Curvature

    摘要: The morphology and crystallinity of the polymers used to fabricate bulk heterojuction (BHJ) solar cells significantly influences the efficiency of the cells. We have used variable-temperature (VT) spectroscopy techniques, namely VT emission and VT resonance Raman spectroscopy (VT-RRS), to examine how the backbone linearity of a conducting polymer affects its electronic response to temperature and variations in solution behavior. We have studied two types of donor–acceptor polymers used in BHJ cells with differing backbone structures; they are poly-{5,6-bis(tetradecyloxy)-4-(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c]-1,2,5-thiadiazole} (PTBT) which has a curved and poly-{5,6-bis(tetradecyloxy)-4-(thieno[3,2-b]-thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c]-1,2,5-thiadiazole} (PTTBT) which has a linear chain structure. Time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations and resonance Raman spectra (RRS) of PTTBT revealed the presence of three electronic transitions, with character that varies between p to p*, mixed p to p*/charge transfer and pure charge transfer in nature. Emission spectra of PTTBT showed spectral changes at 650 and 710 nm with varied temperature ((cid:2)10 to 60 8C). Variable-temperature RRS was measured in resonance with the lowest and highest energy electronic transitions. The changes were interpreted using two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS) analysis. PTTBT showed gradual shifts to lower wavenumbers of modes at around 1425, 1450 and 1500 cm(cid:2)1. For PTBT larger and more rapid spectral changes are observed at 1440 and 1460 cm(cid:2)1 consistent with greater variation in the electronic nature upon heating. Further study into the influence of polymer linearity on crystallinity and long range order was carried out using low-frequency Raman (LFR) to examine drop cast films under a variety of different conditions. LFR spectra showed that PTTBT has a band at 73 cm(cid:2)1. This is observed under a variety of film-forming conditions. PTBT does not show distinct low frequency modes, consistent with its low crystallinity.

  • Simultaneous realization of broad temperature stability range and outstanding dielectric performance in (Ag+, Ta5+) co–doped TiO2 ceramics

    摘要: Effects of sintering condition on dielectric properties and microstructure were systematically investigated in (Ag1/4Ta3/4)0.005Ti0.995O2 ceramics. A giant dielectric constant of ~9831 (1 kHz) and a relatively low dielectric loss of ~0.041 (1 kHz) were realized at the optimal sintering condition of 1330 °C with a holding time for 10 h. Notably, stable temperature coefficient (within -6.8% to 8.8%) of the dielectric constant at 10 kHz was achieved in a broader temperature range (-200–200 °C), which shows superior temperature stability of our sample than the application requirements (-55~200 °C and ?εr/ε25 °C < ±15%) of commercial X9R capacitor.

  • A lithium aluminium borate composite microwave dielectric ceramic with low permittivity, near-zero shrinkage, and low sintering temperature

    摘要: A low temperature co-fired dielectric material with low shrinkage during the sintering process can enhance the circuit design of electronic devices. Lithium aluminium borate composite ceramic with a composition of Li2O:Al2O3:B2O3=1:1:2 (abbreviated: LAB) was prepared by a traditional solid-state reaction method. These ceramics have a low sintering temperature (675–750 °C), low permittivity, and near-zero shrinkage. When the sintering temperature was 725 °C, the LAB ceramics exhibited a small shrinkage of ~2.4% and the best microwave dielectric properties with εr = 3.9, Q × f = 35?500 GHz, and τ? = -64 ppm/°C. The LAB ceramics sintered at 700 °C have near-zero shrinkage of ~ 0.4% and good microwave dielectric properties. The ceramics transformed from (Li2B4O7 and Al2O3) to (Li2Al2B4O10 and Li4Al4B6O17) phases with increasing the sintering temperature, which may be the reason why they show marginal shrinkage. In addition, the ceramics could be co-fired with Ag, indicating that this material is a good candidate for low-temperature co-fired ceramic devices.

  • Enhanced piezoelectric properties and temperature stability of Bi4Ti3O12-based Aurivillius ceramics via W/Nb substitution

    摘要: This work provides an effective method of inducing structure distortion, relieving the tetragonal strain of the TiO6 octahedron and decreasing the concentration of oxygen vacancies to improve the piezoelectricity and temperature stability of BIT ceramics. Bi4Ti2.98W0.01Nb0.01O12 possesses an optimum piezoelectric coefficient (d33) of 32 pC/N, a high Tc of 655 °C and a large resistivity of 3 × 106 Ω·cm at 500 °C. The maximum d33 reported here is approximately quadruple than that of pure BIT (~7 pC/N). Moreover, the d33 of W/Nb co-doped BIT and the in-situ temperature stability of the compression-mode sensor present a highly stable characteristic in the range of 25–600 °C. These results imply that W/Nb-modified BIT ceramics is a promising candidate for application at high temperatures of up to 600 °C.

  • Low-temperature red long-persistent luminescence of Pr3+ doped NaNbO3 with a perovskite structure

    摘要: Long persistent luminescence (LPL) phosphors can keep emitting light after the removal of excitation sources under thermal disturbances at room temperature, which provides a wide application from emergency signs to in vivo biological imaging. Unfortunately, these phosphors will exhibit poor LPL performance once the thermal activation energy is not sufficient to release the captured carriers from the traps at low-temperature. Herein, a red phosphor of Pr3+ doped NaNbO3 with a perovskite structure is designed, which realizes a low-temperature LPL. The red emission (λem=612 nm) is ascribed to the 1D2→3H4 transition of Pr3+ ions, and LPL can be visually recognized over 16 hours after the removal of the excitation source at 200 K. Low-temperature thermoluminescence curves, temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra indicate that abundant traps (≤ 0.6 eV) exist in NaNbO3: Pr3+, which is critical for ensuring the low-temperature LPL. The investigation on low-temperature LPL properties of NaNbO3: Pr3+ helps us to reveal the importance of defects structure, and provides new opportunities in exploring luminescence materials applied in an extreme conditions.

  • Magnetic, magneto-optical and specific heat studies of the low temperature anomalies in the magnetodielectric DyIG ferrite garnet

    摘要: Measurements of magnetization and Cotton Mouton effect (CM) under external magnetic field (Hex) combined with specific heat experiments at Hex = 0, were performed on dysprosium iron garnet Dy3Fe5O12 (or DyIG) single crystals. From the low-temperature dependences of some magnetic, magneto-optical and thermodynamic quantities, such as spontaneous magnetization, both magnetic and CM susceptibilities and the excess specific heat due to the contribution of Dy3+ ions only, give rise to the appearance of two types of anomalies. The first one which is related to the ‘low temperature paraprocess’ effect, occurs in the region of the ‘Belov point’ TB predicted at 42 K. Whereas the second one, which is due to the previous spin reorientation transition, takes place at TSR = 15 K. The easy axis of magnetization which remains along the <111> direction above TSR, changes spontaneously below TSR and becomes aligned along the low symmetry angular <uuw> phases. The results are analyzed taking into account those reported earlier such the negative magnetodielectric effect for Hex < 10 kOe and the Schottky effect which cause anomalies respectively, in the dielectric constant at TSR and in the excess specific heat near the low temperature point TB.
