Effects of laser surface melting on crystallographic texture, microstructure, elastic modulus and hardness of Tia??30Nba??4Sn alloy
摘要: The biocompatibility of orthopedic implants is closely related to their elastic modulus and surface properties. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of cold rolling, recrystallization and laser surface melting (LSM) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a biphase (α″+β) Ti?30Nb?4Sn alloy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) texture analysis of the cold-rolled substrate revealed the [302]α″//ND texture component, while analysis of the recrystallized substrate showed the [302]α″//ND and [110]α″//ND components. The β-phase texture could not be directly measured by XRD, but the presence of the [111]β//ND texture component was successfully predicted by considering the orientation relationship between the α″ and β phases. Nanoindentation measurements showed that the elastic modulus of the cold-rolled substrate (63 GPa) was lower than that of the recrystallized substrate (74 GPa). Based on the available literature and the results presented here, it is suggested that this difference is caused by the introduction of crystal defects during cold deformation. The combined nanoindentation/EBSD analysis showed that the nanoindentation results are not affected by crystal orientation. LSM of the deformed alloy produced changes in hardness, elastic modulus and crystallographic texture similar to those produced by recrystallization heat treatment, creating a stiffness gradient between surface and substrate.

摘要: Robust crack defect detection in solar cells has been challenging because of the inhomogeneously textured surface, low contrast between crack defect and background, the diversity of crack types, and so on. To overcome these challenges, this paper presents a new robust crack defect detection scheme for multicrystalline solar cells. Firstly, a steerable evidence ?lter is designed to process EL image to obtain the response map, which enhances the contrast between crack and background and provides evidence for the presence of crack defect. Secondly, complete crack extraction from the response map is employed. Finally, the complete crack can be located in the inspection image by the crack skeleton extraction. Experimental results on defective and defect-free EL images show that the proposed scheme is robust, and various cracks can be effectively detected, which outperforms the previous methods.

Alteration of lens and retina textures from mice embryos with folic acid deficiency: image processing analysis
摘要: Purpose Folic acid (FA) is an essential vitamin for embryonic development. It plays particularly a critical role in RNA, DNA and protein synthesis. On the other hand, the collagen IV and laminin-1 are important proteins during embryonic development. This study was done to find if FA deficiency at a short and a long term in mothers could alter the tissue texture of retina and lens of the progeny. Methods Collagen IVand laminin-1 were localized by immunohistochemistry in the lens and retina of the FA-deficient embryos. To carry out the image processing, texture segmentation was performed through canny edge detection and Fourier transform (FT). We defined a parameter, the grain size, to describe the texture of the lens and retina. A bootstrap method to estimate the distribution and confidence intervals of the mean, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis of the grain size has been developed. Results Analysis through image processing using Matlab showed changes in the grain size between control- and FA-deficient groups in both studied molecules. Measures of texture based on FT exhibited changes in the directionality and arrangements of type IV collagen and laminin-1. Conclusions Changes introduced by FA deficiency were visible in the short term (2 weeks) and evident in the long term (8 weeks) in both grain size and orientation of fibre structures in the tissues analysed (lens and retina). This is the first work devoted to study the effect of FA deficit in the texture of eye tissues using image processing techniques.

Texture analysis for automated evaluation of Jaszczak phantom SPECT system tests
摘要: Purpose: Routine quarterly quality assurance (QA) assessment of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) systems includes analysis of multipurpose phantoms containing spheres and rods of various sizes. When evaluated by accreditation agencies, criteria applied to assess image quality are largely subjective. Determining a quantified image characteristic metric that emulates human reader impressions of image quality could be quite useful. Our investigation was conducted to ascertain whether image texture analysis metrics, such as those applied to PET scans to detect neoplasms, could prove helpful in linking qualitative statements of phantom sphere and rod visibility to quantified parameters. Because it is not obvious whether it is preferable to submit reconstructions to accrediting agencies performed using typical clinical (CLIN) protocol processing parameters or to follow agencies' filtered backprojection (FBP) suggestions we applied texture analysis metrics to determine the degree to which these choices affect equipment capability assessment.

A Modified Local Binary Pattern Descriptor for SAR Image Matching
摘要: Image matching is an important step which is taken in most applications of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. In this letter, a method is proposed for SAR image matching which introduces a modified local binary pattern (LBP) as a descriptor. Multitextural feature LBP (MTF-LBP) uses the gray-level cooccurrence matrix to increase image texture information. MTF-LBP creates bit plane for each point candidate for matching. Then, using hamming distance, true matches are determined. Experiments are conducted on four spaceborne SAR image pairs including Radarsat-2, TerraSAR-X, ALOS-PALSAR, and Sentinel-1. The proposed method is compared with five common LBP approaches. The results indicate that the proposed method has a better performance in terms of the number of true matches.

Statistical CT reconstruction using region-aware texture preserving regularization learning from prior normal-dose CT image
摘要: In some clinical applications, prior normal-dose CT (NdCT) images are available, and the valuable textures and structure features in them may be used to promote follow-up low-dose CT (LdCT) reconstruction. This study aims to learn texture information from the NdCT images and leverage it for follow-up LdCT image reconstruction to preserve textures and structure features. Specifically, the proposed reconstruction method first learns the texture information from those patches with similar structures in NdCT image, and the similar patches can be clustered by searching context features efficiently from the surroundings of the current patch. Then it utilizes redundant texture information from the similar patches as a priori knowledge to describe specific regions in the LdCT image. The advanced region-aware texture preserving prior is termed as ‘RATP’. The main advantage of the PATP prior is that it can properly learn the texture features from available NdCT images and adaptively characterize the region-specific structures in the LdCT image. The experiments using patient data were performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The proposed RATP method demonstrated superior performance in LdCT imaging compared to the filtered back projection (FBP) and statistical iterative reconstruction (SIR) methods using Gaussian regularization, Huber regularization and the original texture preserving regularization.

摘要: Novel architecture of high precision localization using optical flow sensor (OFS) combined with Iterative Point Tracking Algorithm (IPTA) is proposed. This work focuses on attenuation of OFS' sensitivity dependency on texture of surface over which sensor is moving. The aim for the design of experimental setup is to verify how much a robustness of OFS’s sensitivity on various surfaces improves. In this regard, four different surfaces' texture including iron, paper, textile and granite stone is opted. Experimental results indicate that sensor's resolution via IPTA on surfaces of iron, paper, textile and granite stone respectively equal to 382, 460, 528 and 448 CPI. Optimal value of the algorithm parameters is calculated via Genetic Algorithm (GA). We show that IPTA is one of the effective algorithms that can enhance the robustness of OFS' resolution to surface's texture variations.

摘要: This paper presents a technique for real-time texture-less object recognition and tracking on mobile devices. Our proposed algorithm is an even lighter-weight version of the recent state-of-the-art binary-based texture-less object detector BIND (Binary Integrated Net Descriptor), primarily customized for mobile device applications. This modification, termed BIND-Lite, employs various techniques to overcome the low-computational power of current mobile devices, while mostly retaining the texture-less object detection robustness of the original BIND. On current generation mobile devices, BIND-Lite was able to achieve runtime rates of up to 30 frames per second. To evaluate our algorithm, we have also designed a mobile augmented reality application coined IMPRINT, which renders logos/images onto detected objects to showcase BIND-Lite in a real-time mobile augmented reality setting.

Optical and Electrical Performance of ZnO Films Textured by Chemical Etching
摘要: Zinc oxide (ZnO) films were prepared by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering on the glass substrate as transparent conductive oxide films. For silicon solar cells, a proper surface texture is essential to introduce light scattering and subsequent light trapping to enhance the current generation. In this study, the magnetron-sputtered ZnO films were textured by wet-chemical etching in diluted hydrochloric acid (HCl) for better light scattering. The diffuse transmittance of the surface textured ZnO films was measured to evaluate the light scattering. The influence of hydrochloric acid concentration on the morphology, optical and electrical properties of the surface-textured ZnO film was investigated. The ZnO film etched in 0.05M HCl solution for 30 s exhibited average diffuse transmittance in the visible wavelength range of 9.52 % and good resistivity of 1.10 x 10-3 Ω·cm while the as-deposited ZnO film had average diffuse transmittance of 0.51 % and relatively high resistivity of 5.84 x 10-2 Ω·cm. Experimental results illustrated that the optical and electrical performance of ZnO films can be significantly improved by introducing the surface texture through the wet-chemical etching process.
