  • A direct method to calculate second-order two-dimensional terahertz spectroscopy in frequency-domain based on classical theory

    摘要: Previous theoretical researches on the two-dimensional terahertz spectroscopy (2DTS), which are conducted via inef?ciently time-consuming numerical simulation, deal with only single-mode system. To overcome the limitations, we derive a classical-theory-based analytical solution which is applicable to multi-modes system. Three typical weak sources of nonlinearities are introduced. The ?ndings suggest that the analytical results correspond well with those obtained by the traditional numerical simulation. Thus the study provides a more ef?cient and practical method to directly calculate 2DTS, and, in a broader sense, sheds new light on the theory of 2DTS.

  • Dual frequency-comb spectroscopy of chromophores in condensed phases

    摘要: Femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy and frequency-comb spectroscopy have been individually developed to achieve better time and frequency resolutions, respectively. The two spectroscopic techniques have been developed for different systems, even though they use mode-locked laser in common. Recently, there was an interesting merge of the two techniques into a dual frequency-comb (DFC) spectroscopy, resulting in a new femtosecond spectroscopy with simple instrumentation and high data acquisition speed compared to conventional femtosecond spectroscopic techniques. By slightly detuning the repetition rates of two phase-locked frequency-comb lasers, both automatic time-delay scanning and parallel data recording with single point detectors are possible. Thus, we anticipate that the DFC spectroscopy would allow one to expand the application limits of the conventional femtosecond spectroscopic methods. In this Perspective article, we provide reviews of linear and nonlinear DFC spectroscopy theory and applications with a perspective on the development of coherent multidimensional frequency-comb spectroscopy.

  • Simulating Fluorescence Detected Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy of Multi-Chromophoric Systems

    摘要: We present a theory for modeling fluorescence detected two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy of multichromophoric systems. The theory is tested by comparison of the predicted spectra of the light-harvesting complex LH2 with experimental data. A qualitative explanation of the strong cross-peaks as compared to conventional two-dimensional electronic spectra is given. The strong cross-peaks are attributed to the clean ground state signal that is revealed when the annihilation of exciton pairs created on the same LH2 complex cancels oppositely-signed signals from the doubly-excited state. This annihilation process occurs much faster than the non-radiative relaxation. Furthermore, the lineshape difference is attributed to slow dynamics, exciton delocalization within the bands and intraband exciton-exciton annihilation. This is in line with existing theories presented for model systems. We further propose the use of time-resolved fluorescence detected two-dimensional spectroscopy to study state resolved exciton-exciton annihilation.
