  • Universal detection of entanglement in two-qubit states using only two copies

    摘要: We revisit the problem of detection of entanglement of an unknown two-qubit state using minimal resources. Using weak values and just two copies of an arbitrary two-qubit state, we present a protocol where a postselection measurement in the computational basis provides enough information to identify if the state is entangled or not. Our protocol enables complete state identification with a single-setting postselection measurement on two copies of the state. It follows that by restricting to pure states, the global interaction required for determining the weak values can be realized by local operations. We further show that our protocol is robust against errors arising from inappropriate global interactions applied during weak value determination.

  • Modular-value-based metrology with spin coherent pointers

    摘要: We discuss an optimal modular-value-based measurement with a spin coherent pointer: A quantum system is exposed to a field whose strength is to be estimated through its modular value. We evaluate the quantum Fisher information as a figure of merit. We found that the modular-value-based measurement can reach the same ultimate precision limit of the estimation as those of measurements without postselections. The quantum Fisher information can be increased when the dimension of the pointer state increases. We also consider the pointer under a phase-flip error. Our study should motivate researchers to apply the modular-value-based measurements for quantum metrology.

  • Direct Measurement of a Nonlocal Entangled Quantum State

    摘要: Entanglement and the wave function description are two of the core concepts that make quantum mechanics such a unique theory. A method to directly measure the wave function, using weak values, was demonstrated by Lundeen et al. [Nature 474, 188 (2011)]. However, it is not applicable to a scenario of two disjoint systems, where nonlocal entanglement can be a crucial element, since that requires obtaining weak values of nonlocal observables. Here, for the first time, we propose a method to directly measure a nonlocal wave function of a bipartite system, using modular values. The method is experimentally implemented for a photon pair in a hyperentangled state, i.e., entangled both in polarization and momentum degrees of freedom.

  • Strong entanglement criterion involving momentum weak values

    摘要: In recent years weak values have been used to explore interesting quantum features in novel ways. In particular, the real part of the weak value of the momentum operator has been widely studied, mainly in connection with Bohmian trajectories. Here we focus on the imaginary part and its role in relation with the entanglement of a bipartite system. We establish an entanglement criterion based on weak momentum correlations, that allows to discern whether the entanglement is encoded in the amplitude and/or in the phase of the wave function. Our results throw light on the physical role of the real and imaginary parts of the weak values, and stress the relevance of the latter in the multi-particle scenario.
