Orthogonal Shortwave Infrared Emission Based on Rare Earth Nanoparticles for Interference-free Logical Code and Bio-imaging
摘要: Shortwave infrared (SWIR) photoluminescence has received intense interest in many fields in the recent years thanks to the advantages of its wide wavelength, high tissue imaging ability and it is invisible to the naked eye. However, achieving orthogonal SWIR emission still remains challenge. In the present study, synthesized NaErF4@NaLuF4 (Er@Lu) and NaYF4:Nd@NaLuF4 (Y:Nd@Lu) nanoparticles emitted atom-liked SWIR emission, respectively, and the separated distance between the SWIR emission was beyond 50 nm, which permitted orthogonal SWIR signal acquirement with optical filters. Furthermore, we designed an invisible logical code by manipulating the orthogonal SWIR emission of the lanthanide fluoride nanoparticles, which was further operated by basic logical operations and applied in information encryption and anti-counterfeit. In addition, the emission between these two hydrophilic nanoparticles could be also separated in vivo without signals interference and the orthogonal SWIR imaging mode was achieved, which was demonstrated in bio-imaging experiment in vivo. This demonstration extended the orthogonal SWIR emission capacity by controlling the orthogonal emission, opening new opportunities in the data security, diseases diagnosis and non-interference label in vivo.

Fabrication of Dynamic Holograms on Polymer Surface by Direct Laser Writing for High-Security Anti-Counterfeit Applications
摘要: Anti-counterfeit technology has attracted much attention with the development of economy, because many counterfeit products that are difficult for identification have been produced, which extremely damage the interests of consumers. Here, a high-resolution ultraviolet direct laser writer is applied to fabricate computer-generated holograms (CGH) with laser spot size of 300 nm for anti-counterfeit applications. The characteristics of the reconstructed images illuminated by monochromatic light are demonstrated in details. Additionally, colorful reconstructed images are observed with white light illumination in the high-security holograms samples. Furthermore, a kinematic effect of colorful reconstructed images are also observed by modifying focus depth and object size in the algorithm. The normal first (+1st) order diffraction and negative first (-1st) order diffraction in the high-security holograms exhibit different sizes due to distinguishing magnifications. The kinematic effect of white-light holograms shows great potential in anti-counterfeit applications due to its simplicity for recognition and high security since they are hard to duplicate.

An AIEgen-based luminescent photo-responsive system used as concealed anti-counterfeit material
摘要: Photo-responsive materials with good luminescence performance in solid state have received widespread attention. However, the reported luminescent photo-responsive systems exhibit either only color change or both color and luminescence changes in solid state upon UV light irradiation. Developing photo-responsive materials with only tunable luminescence signals in solid state remains a great challenge for constructing concealed anti-counterfeit materials. In this work, a novel luminescent photo-responsive molecule (TPE-TS) was developed, which exhibited intense ?uorescence emission due to the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristic from its tetraphenylethene moiety. After irradiated by UV light, an isomerization from thio-keto form to thio-enol form took place in the thiosemicarbazide group, accompanied with obvious ?uorescence quenching. Interestingly, there was no visible color variation before and after UV light irradiation owing to the small conjugated structure of TPE-TS. Taking this unique photo-responsive property, a concealed anti-counterfeit paper was successfully prepared. Letters could be recorded by UV light on this paper, hided under daylight and only visible again by UV light, demonstrating an excellent concealed performance as an anti-counterfeit material.
