Laser markability of PVC coated automotive electric cables
摘要: This article describes the test results for laser markability of automotive electrical cables. The insulation is PVC, but the colour and construction of the insulations are different. Two types of laser workstations were used, one with a wavelength of 1064 nm and another with 532 nm. The penetration depth of the laser beam was determined by optical microscopy on cross sections. The 1064 nm laser beam can mark all investigated materials with good contrast, except the yellow insulation. The 532 nm laser beam with fast speed can hardly produce contrast with any of the materials. The laser markability of the yellow insulation was found to be the most problematic. On the two-layer insulation, despite the whitening of the inner material, dark marking is produced because the heat developing on the interface of the two layers will heat up and carbonize the transparent layer.

Synthesis of carbon quantum dots from lac dye for silicon dioxide imaging and highly sensitive ethanol detecting
摘要: This study aimed to improve the fluorescence performance of lac dye by preparing carbon quantum dots in an attempt to diversify the applicability of lac dye in fluorescence detection. The highly photoluminescent (PL) ld-CQDs were synthesized for the first time using lac dye as a precursor by a facile, green, one-pot ethanol thermal method. The ld-CQDs were neither soluble nor dispersed in water, but could be dissolved or dispersed in organic solvents. The ld-CQDs were well dispersed in ethanol with a mean diameter of 1.76 nm and were found to emit a bright yellow fluorescence with an emission wavelength of 570 nm. The quantum yield of ld-CQDs was 0.40, which was a significant 20-fold improvement over the lac dye of 0.02. Meanwhile, ld-CQDs exhibited pH-sensitive and excellent affinity for silicon dioxide without further chemical modification. Further, ld-CQDs could be used to image silicon dioxide since the fluorescence intensity of the ld-CQDs/silicon dioxide composites was significantly improved. Furthermore, the ld-CQDs could be used as a highly sensitive fluorescent probe to detect the ethanol content of commercial wines. In conclusion, this study has demonstrated the novel application of the fluorescence properties of the lac dye, which has utility in visual detection applications and in tracking the detection of silicon dioxide and ethanol.

Head-to-head comparison of the diagnostic performances of Rubidium-PET and SPECT with CZT camera for the detection of myocardial ischemia in a population of women and overweight individuals
摘要: Background. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic performances for the detection of myocardial ischemia of 82-Rb-PET-MPS and 99m-Tc-SPECT-MPS in overweight individuals and women. Methods and Results. Men with BMI ≥ 25 and women referred for MPS were considered for inclusion. All individuals underwent 99m-Tc-SPECT-MPS with CZT cameras and 82-Rb-PET-MPS in 3D-mode. Individuals with at least one positive MPS were referred for coronary angiography (CA) with FFR measurements. A criterion for positivity was a composite endpoint including significant stenosis on CA or, in the absence of CA, the occurrence of acute coronary event during the following year. 313 patients (46% women) with mean BMI of 31.8 ± 6.5 were included. Sensitivity for the detection of myocardial ischemia was higher with 82-Rb-PET-MPS compared with 99m-Tc-SPECT-MPS (85% vs. 57%, P < .05); specificity was equally high with both imaging techniques (93% vs. 94%, P > .05). 82-Rb-PET allowed for a more accurate detection of patients with a high-risk coronary artery disease (HR-CAD) than 99m-Tc-SPECT-MPS (AUC = 0.86 vs. 0.75, respectively; P = .04). Conclusions. In women and overweight individuals, 82-Rb-PET-MPS provides higher sensitivity for the detection of myocardial ischemia than 99m-Tc-SPECT-MPS thanks to a better image quality and an improved detection of HR-CAD.

摘要: Oral cancer presents a public health crisis, particularly in regions where widespread use of tobacco, betel quid and acacia extract lead to disproportionately high incidences of oral malignancies. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has shown to work efficiently in early-stage oral cancer lesions; however, physicians require a method capable of assisting them during therapy delivery, so treatments can be more effective. Several studies explore how to take advantage of photosensitized fluorescent lesions to perform imaging with the purpose of guiding and monitoring patients undergoing PDT; however, these streamlined systems for intraoral PDT treatment guidance and monitoring are needed in order for this approach to achieve optimal outcomes. This paper proposes the development of a smartphone application capable of processing images taken with an endoscopy camera directly connected to the device. PDT guidance and monitoring can be simplified, and treatment could be delivered more efficiently, increasing the chance of achieving a complete tumor response.

摘要: This paper introduces a novel reconfigurable antenna for controlling radiation beam direction by using integrated phase-change material (PCM). A PCM GeTe-based parasitic patch considered as a switchable element between insulator and conductive states is applied to operate with a driven patch radiator. The direction of the radiation pattern of the antenna can be tilted by changing the state of the GeTe-based patch from its insulator to conductive state. Obtained result shows that the proposed technique is effective to control the beam direction of the antenna. Around a 400 titled angle is achieved by the insulator-to-conductor activation of the GeTe patch which can be realized by an optical source, making the antenna simple and compact without extra bias circuit. Hence, the antenna is suitable for millimeter-wave applications.

摘要: A seamless battery integration with higher power conversion efficiency and lower system power rating can be achieved by adopting the DC-series battery integration topology into a photovoltaic (PV) string inverter system, the PV-battery series inverter. The PV-battery series inverter uses the partial-power processing technique to achieve flexible current control between PV string and battery. In the process of designing the partial-power DC-DC optimizer, different types of DC-DC converters and different size of batteries can be considered, and the system efficiency and the power rating vary based on the system design. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the different type partial-power optimizers for the PV-battery series inverter in residential rooftop applications (< 10kW PV output power, < 500V DC-bus voltage), in consideration of the DC-DC converter topology. Non-isolated and isolated bidirectional DC-DC converters are considered and selection of battery voltage in each case is made to have the optimized system design. The operation of the designed DC-DC optimizer is verified through controller hardware-in-the-loop test.

Bright red-emitting highly reliable styryl probe with large stokes shift for visualizing mitochondria in live cells under wash-free conditions
摘要: Bright red-emitting pyridinium cyanine based styryl probe 2 is synthesized in good yields. Probe 2 demonstrated a large Stokes’ shift (Δλ ≈ 128 nm, 4227 cm-1 in DCM) and excellent fluorescent quantum yield (?fl ≈ 0.2 - 0.7) due to strong Intra-molecular charge transfer (ICT). Probe 2 found to exhibit exceptional selectivity for cellular mitochondria in both normal (COS-7) and cancer (A549) cell lines. Probe 2 is readily applicable as a “wash-free” dye to visualize mitochondria as it does not require post-staining washing prior to imaging. Styryl probe 2 also showed an excellent biocompatibility as the calculated LC50 (lethal concentration, 50%) value was > 20 μM. Probe 2 emission did not show any interferences from anionic species or other biological molecules. Probe 2 is readily excitable (λex ~460 and λem ~618 nm) with the available laser (454 nm) in commercial microscopes and thus it can be a useful probe for mitochondrial tracking in live cells.

Multi-Scale Object Histogram Distance for LCCD Using Bi-Temporal Very-High-Resolution Remote Sensing Images
摘要: To improve the performance of land-cover change detection (LCCD) using remote sensing images, this study utilises spatial information in an adaptive and multi-scale manner. It proposes a novel multi-scale object histogram distance (MOHD) to measure the change magnitude between bi-temporal remote sensing images. Three major steps are related to the proposed MOHD. Firstly, multi-scale objects for the post-event image are extracted through a widely used algorithm called the fractional net evaluation approach. The pixels within a segmental object are taken to construct the pairwise frequency distribution histograms. An arithmetic frequency-mean feature is then defined from the red, green and blue band histogram. Secondly, bin-to-bin distance is adapted to measure the change magnitude between the pairwise objects of bi-temporal images. The change magnitude image (CMI) of the bi-temporal images can be generated through object-by-object. Finally, the classical binary method Otsu is used to divide the CMI to a binary change detection map. Experimental results based on two real datasets with different land-cover change scenes demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed MOHD approach in detecting land-cover change compared with three widely used existing approaches.

Error correction for short-range optical interconnect using COTS transceivers
摘要: Nowadays, quantities of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) optical transceivers are widely equipped in both exiting and abuilding data centers. As data centers are becoming larger and containing more servers, the method to ensure longer and steady transmission with COTS optical transceivers becomes one of the key issues. Meanwhile, variations in the manufacturing of COTS optical transceivers bring in fluctuation of packet error rate (PER) in communication. In this paper, we present an application layer adaptive forward error correction (AL-AFEC) coding scheme for COTS optical transceivers in optical interconnect to solve the problems mentioned above and test its performance in a 10 Gbps Ethernet (10GbE) link using 10GBASE-SR SFP+ modules. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme enables longer transmission distance and the instability introduced by manufactural variations is well settled. Since our scheme requires no extra hardware on optical transceivers, it is a considerable low-cost alternative to improve system reliability and achieve longer transmission distance for COTS optical transceivers.

摘要: This paper presents the factors that an Augmented Reality application designer must look at whilst implementing AR applications on mobile platforms. There are certain implementation and design issues that are critical to the success of an AR application. The trigger response time (TRT) and mobile platform battery consumption are the two main parameters that are looked at in the research preseted. The test application was designed using a combination of Vuforia, Unity and Blender platforms, and the mobile platform used was an Android based One Plus 3T phone. The results discuss the impact of trigger image complexity, 3d object complexity and ambient light on the response time and battery life.
