Experimental Demonstration of Directly Modulated DFB Lasers with Negative Chirp over Wide Temperature Operation
摘要: Massive expansion of wireless body area networks (WBANs) in the field of health monitoring applications has given rise to the generation of huge amount of biomedical data. Ensuring privacy and security of this very personal data serves as a major hurdle in the development of these systems. An effective and energy friendly authentication algorithm is, therefore, a necessary requirement for current WBANs. Conventional authentication algorithms are often implemented on higher levels of the Open System Interconnection model and require advanced software or major hardware upgradation. This paper investigates the implementation of a physical layer security algorithm as an alternative. The algorithm is based on the behavior fingerprint developed using the wireless channel characteristics. The usability of the algorithm is established through experimental results, which show that this authentication method is not only effective, but also very suitable for the energy-, resource-, and interface-limited WBAN medical applications.

Authenticated Controlled Quantum Secure Direct Communication Protocol Based on Five-Particle Brown States
摘要: In this paper a new authenticated quantum protocol aiming to establish a controlled secure direct communication based on five-particle Brown states is proposed. In comparison with previous ones, higher amount of quantum channel capacity is spent for transferring secret information. The controller takes the responsibility of communication after authenticating its identity to parties of communication and keeps its supervision task till end phase of transferring information. The bidirectional authentication method along with eavesdropping check, uses the pre-transmitted identification and hash. The classical XOR operator is used for preventing from eavesdropping by dishonest ones.

摘要: District-wide real-time information sharing provides new opportunities to optimize infrastructures and, for example, the energy consumption of smart cities. However, information collection introduces new privacy threats that must be addressed. Existing anonymization solutions are not sufficient for the brokering of streaming real-time measurements. Advanced adversaries may utilize information available from different sources and correlation analyses to reveal a measurement’s actual source. We analyze security and privacy requirements and design a privacy-enhancing architecture for an information brokering platform. We propose an adaptive pseudonymization framework to make privacy attacks harder and to gain real-time awareness of the robustness of the privacy protection of platforms. Finally, we present an initial evaluation of the proposal using real-world energy consumption measurements.

摘要: Whilst research efforts have traditionally focused on Electrocardiographic (ECG) signals and handcrafted features as potential biometric traits, few works have explored systems based on the raw photoplethysmogram (PPG) signal. This work proposes an end-to-end architecture to offer biometric authentication using PPG biosensors through Convolutional Networks. We provide an evaluation of the performance of our approach in two different databases: Troika and PulseID, the latter a publicly available database specifically collected by the authors for such a purpose. Our verification approach through convolutional network based models and using raw PPG signals appears to be viable in current monitoring procedures within e-health and fitness environments showing a remarkable potential as a biometry. The approach tested on a verification fashion, on trials lasting one second, achieved an AUC of 78.2% and 83.2%, averaged among target subjects, on PulseID and Troika datasets respectively. Our experimental results on previous small datasets support the usefulness of PPG extracted biomarkers as viable traits for multi-biometric or standalone biometrics. Furthermore, the approach results in a low input throughput and complexity that allows for a continuous authentication in real-world scenarios. Nevertheless, the reported experiments also suggest that further research is necessary to account for and understand sources of variability found in some subjects.

[Advances in Food and Nutrition Research] || Advanced Analysis of Roots and Tubers by Hyperspectral Techniques
摘要: Hyperspectral techniques in terms of spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging have become reliable analytical tools to effectively describe quality attributes of roots and tubers (such as potato, sweet potato, cassava, yam, taro, and sugar beet). In addition to the ability for obtaining rapid information about food external or internal defects including sprout, bruise, and hollow heart, and identifying different grades of food quality, such techniques have also been implemented to determine physical properties (such as color, texture, and specific gravity) and chemical constituents (such as protein, vitamins, and carotenoids) in root and tuber products with avoidance of extensive sample preparation. Developments of related quality evaluation systems based on hyperspectral data that determine food quality parameters would bring about economic and technical values to the food industry. Consequently, a comprehensive review of hyperspectral literature is carried out in this chapter. The spectral data acquired, the multivariate statistical methods used, and the main breakthroughs of recent studies on quality determinations of root and tuber products are discussed and summarized. The conclusion elaborates the promise of how hyperspectral techniques can be applied for non-invasive and rapid evaluations of tuber quality properties.

An optical multiple-image authentication based on transport of intensity equation
摘要: An optical multiple-image authentication approach based on transport of intensity equation technique has been proposed. Initially, a phase-encoded plaintext is synthesized with significant blocks chosen from the multiple plain images by evaluating their spatial frequency coefficients, which is bonded with a random intensity mask generated with logistic map to constitute the complex amplitude. Then, the complex amplitude is encrypted to a real-valued ciphertext with noise-like distribution by using Fresnel diffraction. In the process of authentication, the phase information is firstly reconstructed by solving transport of intensity equation. The existence of a plain image can be identified by calculating the nonlinear correlation between it and its partial data only containing the extracted significant blocks from the phase information by aid of the corresponding binary mask. To our best knowledge, it is the first time to apply the transport of intensity equation technique to implement the optical multiple-image authentication. A set of numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach.

The feasibility of the concept is veri?ed through experiments.

DATA FUSION APPROACHES IN SPECTROSCOPIC CHARACTERIZATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF PDO WINE VINEGARS
摘要: Spain is one of the major producers of high-quality wine vinegars having three protected designations of origin (a.k.a. PDOs): “Vinagre de Jerez”, “Vinagre de Condado de Huelva” and “Vinagre de Montilla-Moriles”. Their high prices due to their high quality and their high production costs explain the need for developing an adequate quality control technique and the interest in extensive characterization in order to capture the identity of each denomination. In this framework, methodologies based on non-targeted techniques, such as spectroscopies, are becoming popular in food authentication. Thus, for improving vinegar quality assessment, fusion of data blocks obtained from the same samples but different analytical techniques could be a good strategy, since the quantity and quality of sample knowledge could be enhanced providing new insights into the differentiation of vinegars. Therefore, the aim of this manuscript is the development of a multi-platform methodology and a model able to classify the Spanish wine vinegar PDOs. Sixty-five PDO wine vinegars were analyzed by four spectroscopic techniques: Fourier-transform mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR), near infrared spectroscopy (NIR), multidimensional fluorescence spectroscopy (EEM) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). Two different data fusion strategies were evaluated: Mid-level data fusion with different preprocessing, and Common Component and Specific Weights analysis multiblock method. Exploratory and classification analysis on the data from individual techniques were also performed and compared with data fusion models. The data fusion models improved the classification, providing a more efficient differentiation, than the models based on single methods, and supporting the approach to combine these methods to achieve synergies for an optimized PDO differentiation.

Comment on a??Controlled mutual quantum entity authentication with an untrusted third partya??
摘要: Kang et al. (Quantum Inf Process 17(7):159, 2018) proposed a controlled mutual quantum entity authentication protocol with an untrusted third party. We reexamined its security and further found there is a secure ?aw, that is, the untrusted third party Charlie can get the shared key between Alice and Bob without being detected. In addition, we gave a strategy to avoid this secure ?aw.
