摘要: Micron-sized conducting particles that columnize along the magneto-static field lines are used to implement the wires in a traditional split ring resonator/wire metamaterial unit-cell configuration. It is shown that the impedance of the metamaterial can be effectively changed from 1GHz-20GHz by controlling the particle columns.

A CSRR-Based Sensor for Full Characterization of Magneto-Dielectric Materials
摘要: In this paper, a novel complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR)-based sensor for full characterization of magneto-dielectric materials is proposed. In general, the operation of microwave resonance-based sensor hinges on the shift in the resonance frequency and the change in the quality factor of the loaded structure. However, both the electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability of the material under test (MUT) have similar effect on the response of the sensor that makes the simultaneous determination of the permittivity and permeability challenging. To remove this difficulty, the main idea behind this paper is to localize the highest intensity of the electric and magnetic fields in two separate zones. By the analysis of the measured resonance frequency and quality factor, the real and imaginary parts of the electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability of the MUT can be determined. Although the characterization of the permittivity and permeability of materials using split-ring resonator and CSRR-based sensors has been widely used, to the best of our knowledge, the full characterization of magneto-dielectric materials using a single sensor has not yet been reported in this paper. As a proof of concept, the sensor was fabricated and used to measure the permittivity and permeability of several materials. Strong agreement between the extracted values and the reference data was achieved.

Design and Analysis of Complimentary Split Ring Resonator Backed Microstrip Transmission Line Using Equivalent Circuit Model
摘要: This article presents a compact, low-profile Band-Stop Filter (BSF) designed using Complimentary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR). An equivalent circuit model is also presented along with the simplified mathematical approach to extract the parameters of the circuit model. This paper also presents the effect of variation in the dimensions of split rings on characteristics of BSF. The proposed BSF has a compact size of 27 × 20 mm2 designed an FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant (εr) 4.3. The filter provides complete suppression of the band at 2.4 GHz. The design and circuit analysis of this metamaterial based filter is presented in terms of reflection coefficient, transmission coefficient and impedance curve.

A metamaterials-loaded quarter mode SIW microfluidic sensor for microliter liquid characterization
摘要: In this paper, a two concentric complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) loaded quarter mode substrate integrated waveguide (QMSIW) is proposed as a compact microfluidic chemical sensor for liquid characterization, demonstrated by the measurement of distilled (DI) water and ethanol liquid mixtures. The proposed sensor can detect the liquid concentration from the resonance frequency shift caused by the liquid sample flowing inside the microfluidic channel engraved on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Its electrical size is only ?0.25λg. The simulated resonant frequency shifts between DI water and 100% ethanol is 1196 MHz (from 2.620 GHz to 3.816 GHz), while less than 6 μL samples are used. The experimental results have validated the possibility of the application of the proposed microfluidic structure as a chemical sensor.

摘要: Defected ground structure (DGS) is frequently involved to improve the characteristic response of microwave devices. In this paper, investigation of DGS utilization for characteristic enhancement of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) composed of complimentary-split-ring-resonator (CSRR) is presented. The filter is deployed on an FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate with the thickness of 1.6 mm and the dimension of 45 mm × 40 mm. The BPF which is designed by two reversely arranged CSRR incorporated on the SIW conductor surface provides passband extension at higher frequency producing the bandwidth response around 9 GHz. However, the use of CSRR also provides some unsatisfactory response at high frequency region requiring for the enhancement. By involving DGS into the BPF, the characteristic response at high frequency region could be enhanced with the bandwidth response achieves up to 10% improved.

摘要: In this paper, the characterization of multi-stage Ku-band waveguide bandpass ?lter (BPF) is presented. The proposed ?lter which is intended to operate at the TE10δ mode is designed using a WR90 type of rectangular waveguide con?gured. Some dielectric frequency selective structures developed using complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) are loaded into the waveguide and arranged in multi-stage con?guration. Each dielectric frequency selective structure is composed of 2 layers of 1.6 mm thick Arlon DiClad 527 dielectric substrate ?ank a structure of CSRR. Some parametric studies upon physical parameters of CSRR are performed through simulation to obtain the desired response of ?lter. The performance characteristic shows that the multi-stage Ku-band waveguide BPF has the passband area in the frequency range of 13 GHz to 16 GHz. The proposed waveguide BPF is then realized and its properties are characterized through experimental measurement.

摘要: In this work, for the research of novel waveguide filters, we propose a microwave corrugated substrate integrated waveguide CSIW filter based on the high anisotropy electro-optic nematic liquid crystal. Metallic vias of the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is replaced by quarter microstrip stubs of the CSIW, which solves the problem of shorting the upper and lower planes of the waveguide due to metalized vias when the SIW is biased. Using the electromagnetic scattering complementary open-loop resonance type anisotropic medium structure, the enhanced scattering characteristics can amplify the cutoff mode. In combination with the dielectric anisotropy of the liquid crystal and the high modulation efficiency of the inverted microstrip line, the waveguide filter has advantages such as high modulation efficiency, high Q value, and low transmission loss.

COMPLIMENTARY SPLIT RING RESONATOR INSPIRED MEANDERED CPW-FED MONOPOLE ANTENNA FOR MULTIBAND OPERATION
摘要: A novel design of Meandered Coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed CSRR loaded multiband antenna is presented in this paper. A compact triple-band antenna is designed by etching CSRR slots on the radiating element. The proposed antenna shows good performance at all resonant frequencies. The simulation results are discussed and compared with the measured ones. The e?ects of CSRR loading on the radiating element are explained. Parametric studies are carried out and explained in detail. The proposed antenna is fabricated and measured, and the results are compared with the simulated ones. CSRR permittivity characteristics are explained to validate the results. The proposed antenna can be used for C-band, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) applications.

摘要: A planar monopole antenna for ultra–wide band (UWB) application has been presented in this letter. In order to gain an excellent band–rejection characteristic at WLAN band and ITU band, a rectangular shaped patch and a CSRR slot with two resonators near the feed line has been designed. The performance of the proposed antenna is investigated by using the software CST MW Simulator and the results achieve good impedance matching over an operating bandwidth of 3.4 – 13.60 GHz, which meets the requirement of UWB application well. Dual band notch curves have been achieved by inserting a slot in the patch and by location two resonators near the feed lines. The proposed antenna has good return loss graph having two notches first covering the WLAN band and notching the 5.5GHz second at 7.6GHz. Surface current distribution at various frequencies is also shown in the letter with few radiation pattern graphs in E- plane and H-plane

COMPACT BROADBAND END-FIRE ANTENNA WITH METAMATERIAL TRANSMISSION LINE
摘要: A broadband end-?re antenna loaded with magneto-electro-dielectric metamaterial (MED-MTM) is presented in this paper. Based on a planar printed structure, many periodic structures are investigated in antenna design. The metal patch is embedded with a C-shaped complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) array, and many cross slots are etched on the ground plane. The zeroth-order resonance (ZOR) and ?rst-order resonance (FOR) can be excited. As a result of electromagnetic coupling e?ect, the C-shaped patch and ground plane compose metamaterial transmission line (MTL). For potential applications, the broadband and end-?re antenna can work with a 53.5% (3.81–6.59 GHz) impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna achieves size reduction, gain improvement and bandwidth enhancement.
