  • Improve the crystallinity and morphology of perovskite films by suppressing the formation of intermediate phase of CH3NH3PbCl3

    摘要: Crystallinity and morphology of perovskite films can greatly influence the performance of perovskite solar cells (Pero-SCs) in terms of charge carrier generation and transportation. Incorporation of Cl (from either PbCl2 or CH3NH3Cl) in crystal growth of CH3NH3PbI3 is known as an effective method to acquire larger crystal grains and longer carrier diffusion length. It has been reported that an intermediate phase of CH3NH3PbCl3 was usually observed during crystallization, which should be critical to the quality of the resulting perovskite, however, how the intermediate phase influence the crystal growth was lack of comprehensive understanding. In this study, through varying the mixing ratio of the precursors PbI2:2CH3NH3I and PbCl2:3CH3NH3I, we were able to systematically tune the content and the converting time of CH3NH3PbCl3. We found that suppressing the formation of CH3NH3PbCl3 within the as-cast films can effectively improve the quality (crystallinity and morphology) of the resulting perovskite films. The improvement led to significant enhancement of the performance of the corresponding p-i-n planar Pero-SCs. Under optimized conditions, the best PCE was increased from 12.8% to 16.2%, which should be attributed to the alleviated charge recombination due to the improved quality of perovskite films by suppressing the formation of CH3NH3PbCl3.

  • Effects of fluorination and thermal annealing on charge recombination processes in polymer bulk-heterojunction solar cells

    摘要: We investigate the effect of fluorination on the photovoltaic properties of an alternating conjugated polymer composed of 4,8-di-2-thienylbenzo[1,2-b:4,5-b0]dithiophene and 4,7-bis([2,20-bithiophen]-5-yl)-benzo-2-1-3-thiadiazole (4TBT) units in bulk-heterojunction solar cells. The unsubstituted and fluorinated polymers afford very similar open-circuit voltages and fill factor values, but the fluorinated polymer performed better due to enhanced aggregation which provides a higher photocurrent. The photovoltaic performance of both materials improved upon thermal annealing at 150–200 °C as a result of a significantly increased fill factor and open-circuit voltage, counteracted by a slight loss in photocurrent. Detailed studies of the morphology, light intensity dependence, external quantum efficiency and electroluminescence allowed the exploration of the effects of fluorination and thermal annealing on the charge recombination and the nature of the donor–acceptor interfacial charge transfer states in these films.

  • Design and Implementation of Digital Phase Locked Loop for Single-Phase Grid-Tied PV Inverters

    摘要: The rational design of porphyrin sensitizers is always crucial for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), since the change of only a single atom can have a significant influence on the photovoltaic performance. We incorporated the pyridothiadiazole group, as a stronger electron-withdrawing group, into the commonly well-established skeleton of D-porphyrin-triple bond-acceptor sensitizers by a single atom change for a well-known strong electron-withdrawing benzothiadiazole (BTD) unit as an auxiliary acceptor. The impact of the pyridothiadiazole group on the optical; electrochemical; and photovoltaic properties of D–π–A porphyrin sensitizers was investigated with comparison for a benzothiadiazole-substituted SGT-020 porphyrin. The pyridothiadiazole-substituted SGT-024 porphyrin dye was red-shifted so that the absorption range might be expected to achieve higher light harvest efficiency (LHE) than the SGT-020 porphyrin. However, all the devices were fabricated by utilizing SGT-020 and SGT-024, evaluated and found to achieve a cell efficiency of 10.3% for SGT-020-based DSSC but 4.2% for SGT-024-based DSSC under standard global AM 1.5G solar light conditions. The main reason is the lower charge collection efficiency of SGT-024-based DSSC than SGT-020-based DSSC, which can be attributed to the tilted dye adsorption mode on the TiO2 photoanode. This may allow for faster charge recombination, which eventually leads to lower Jsc, Voc and power conversion efficiency (PCE).

  • Skeletal tailoring of two-dimensional π-conjugated polymer (g-C3N4) through sodium salt for solar-light driven photocatalysis

    摘要: Structural modi?cation of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) by addition of sodium salt has been investigated for solar light-driven photocatalysis. The results from optical study indicates that the incorporation of sodium ions decreases band gap energy along with upward shifts of conduction and valence band. However, no substantial increment in surface area was observed, but morphological and optical studies con?rm that the structural deformation of g-C3N4 through sodium salt activates the ?n π * electronic transition, which can extend the absorption range to the red region attributing towards a reduced charge recombination, narrow band gap, and high conduction band edge. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of sodium doped g-C3N4 (0.6Na-g-C3N4) was examined under solar light for di?erent operational conditions in terms of phenol degradation of real tannery e?uent, and it was found that under optimum experimental conditions, i.e., 5 h solar irradiance, pH 5, H2O2 concentration 800 mg/L with a ?ow rate of 4 L/h, 0.6 Na- g-C3N4 exhibits 84.22% reduction in phenol while for g-C3N4 only 63.53% was observed.

  • Salt Effect in Ion-Pair Dynamics after Bimolecular Photoinduced Electron Transfer in a Room-Temperature Ionic Liquid

    摘要: Bimolecular photoinduced electron transfer between perylene and two quenchers was investigated in an imidazolium room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) and in a dipolar solvent mixture of the same viscosity using transient absorption on the subpicosecond to submicrosecond timescales. Whereas charge separation dynamics were similar in both solvents, significant differences were observed in the temporal evolution of the ensuing radical ions: although small, the free ion yield is significantly larger in the RTIL, and recombination of the ion pair to the triplet state of perylene is more efficient in the dipolar solvent. The temporal evolution of reactant, ion and triplet state populations could be well reproduced using Unified Encounter Theory. This analysis reveals that the observed differences can be explained by the strong screening of the Coulomb potential in the ion pair by the ionic solvent. In essence, RTILs favor free ions compared to highly dipolar solvents of the same viscosity.

  • Chemistry of ternary monocarboxyterpyridine-bipyridine-trimercaptotriazine ruthenium complexes and application in dye sensitized solar cells

    摘要: The synthesis of the [RuII(Hmctpy)(H2O)(Cl2)], [RuII(Hmctpy)(dmbpy)Cl]Cl and [RuII(Hmctpy)(dmbpy)(H3tmt)](PF6)2 complexes (mctpy = monocarboxyterpyridine, dmbpy = dimethylbipyridine, tmt = trimercaptotriazine) was carried out based on a vectorial design for energy transfer in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The [RuII(mctpy)(dmbpy)(Hxtmt)]n complexes were fully characterized and the electrochemical and absorption/emission properties corroborated their potentially as TiO2 photosensitizing agents. However, the observed current density and open circuit voltage were rather small, imparting a low efficiency for the assembled DSSCs. The results indicated a unexpected contribution of the charge recombination effects at the electrode surface. Such effects increased with the number of deprotonated groups in the tmt ligand as they interact with the nanocrystalline TiO2 surface, capturing electrons from the conduction band.

  • Experimentally Calibrated Kinetic Monte Carlo Model Reproduces Organic Solar Cell Currenta??Voltage Curve

    摘要: Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations are used to describe the current-voltage characteristics of an organic bulk heterojunction solar cell. Excellent agreement between model and experiment is obtained by calibrating the injection barriers, the blend morphology and the charge transfer recombination rate with data from independent measurement techniques.

  • Efficient phenothiazine-ruthenium sensitizers with high open-circuit voltage (Voc) for high performance dye-sensitized solar cells

    摘要: Herein, we designed and synthesized two highly effective phenothiazine-ruthenium sensitizers JR1 and JR2 to use in dye-sensitized solar cells. The structure of N719 was further optimized, 1,10-phenanthroline modified by phenothiazine was used instead of 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid to as the electron donor. Compared with N719, these two ruthenium dyes show better optical properties, both the spectral response range and the molar absorption coefficient of dye molecules have been significantly improved. The IPCE response of JR1 is obviously improved, the response range of photocurrent is widened to 800 nm, the overall response value is also higher. JR2 shows the widest and highest IPCE response curve, in the region of 410-600 nm, the IPCE value of JR2 is more than 70%, and at 530 nm, the IPCE value has reached 79%, so JR2 shows the highest Jsc of 17.18 mA cm-2. Further optimization of molecular structure not only improves the light-harvesting performance of the device, but also reduces the charge recombination behaviour and improves the the electron lifetime, so the Voc is greatly increased. Especially for JR2, the introduction of the second long carbon chain not only increases the solubility of the dye, but also further suppresses the dye aggregation and reduces the charge recombination. The phenothiazine-ruthenium dye JR2 shows a high Voc of 841 mV, while the theoretical Voc of DSSCs based on I-/I3 - electrolyte is about 900 mV. JR2 exhibits a superior PCE of 9.12%, which exceeds N719 (8.03%) about 14%.

  • Phenanthrenea??Fuseda??Quinoxaline as Key Building Block for Highly Efficient and Stable Sensitizers in Copper Electrolyte Based Dyea??Sensitized Solar Cells

    摘要: Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on Cu(II/I) bipyridyl or phenanthroline complexes as redox shuttles have achieved very high open-circuit voltages (VOC, > 1 V). However, their short-circuit photocurrent density (JSC) has remained modest. The challenge for increasing the JSC is expected to extend the spectral response of sensitizers to the red or NIR region while maintaining efficient electron injection in the mesoscopic TiO2 film and fast regeneration by the Cu(I) complex. Here, we report two new D-A-π-A featured sensitizers coded HY63 and HY64, which employ either benzothiadiazole (BT) or phenanthrene-fused-quinoxaline (PFQ) as the auxiliary electron-withdrawing acceptor moiety. In spite of very similar energy levels and absorption onsets, HY64-based DSSCs outperform largely their HY63 counterpart, achieving an outstanding power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 12.5% with superior stability. In depth studies of interfacial charge carrier dynamics show that PFQ is superior to BT in retarding charge recombination resulting in near quantitative collection of photogenerated charge carriers.

  • Effect of annealing temperature on internal absorption, charge recombination and internal quantum efficiency of HC(NH2)2PbI3 perovskite solar cells

    摘要: The effect of annealing temperature for the perovskite layer on the internal absorption(Q), charge recombination and internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of HC(NH2)2PbI3 (FAPbI3) perovskite solar cells (PeSCs) was investigated. The PeSC with FAPbI3 film annealed at 145 °C has relatively better internal absorption, lower charge recombination and higher charge collection, leading to the higher device IQE.
