A novel photovoltaic battery energy storage system based on modular multilevel converter
摘要: Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) have been widely applied in photovoltaic battery energy storage systems (PV-BESSs). In this paper, a novel topology of PV-BESS based on MMC is proposed, where the batteries are connected to the sub-modules through DC-DC converters. It is necessary to analyze the control strategies of both DC-DC converters and MMC. Specifically, the capacitor voltage balancing and the modulation mode are important. The sorting method is proposed to balance the capacitor voltages in this paper. Moreover, carrier phase shift-square wave modulation with the highest voltage utilization ratio and the highest power transfer capability is proposed to generate PWM singles for MMC-PV-BESS. In order to verify the availability of the proposed control strategy, a simulation model is built and related experiments are carried out. The simulation results and experimental results are consistent with the theory. As a result, the voltages of all capacitors could be balanced, and the MMC-PV-BESS could reliably work.

Control Strategies for solar fa?ade panels coupled with a Heat Pump and interacting with a District Heating Network
摘要: This work aims to understand the potential of an innovative technology for solar energy harvesting in a District Heating Network (DHN). The considered technology is aesthetic solar fa?ade thermal panel. In order to guarantee the temperatures required by a 3rd generation DHN (around 75°C), a Heat Pump, using as cold source the heat from the panels, is necessary. It is worth noting that the coupling between fa?ade panels and Heat Pump requires accurate evaluations. The optimum condition for the fa?ade panels is to work at low temperatures (close to ambient or even below), while the Heat Pump reaches high Coefficient Of Performance (COP) when the temperature difference between hot and cold sources is minimized. In the first part of the study, a system model has been built using Matlab SIMULINK using results of tests on the panels already performed inside the H2020 ENVISION project. Different colours are considered. In the second part, a predictive mode-based strategy has been defined and tuned on the system in order to guarantee the best system performances in interaction with the DHN. This work will allow to understand whether this technology is feasible in the presented scenario and this layout can improve local energy exchange.

摘要: This paper presents the design and development of a photovoltaic (PV) source emulator able to behave similarly as an actual PV module irrespective of environmental conditions change, it consists basically of a switch mode power supply (SMPS) controlled by a backstepping technique with a control strategy of referencing. The backstepping strategy is used to guaranty more accuracy and stability of the system and ensure a high bandwidth in order to track faithfully the Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristic of a desired PV module. Simulation results are given and discussed so as to validate the functioning of the proposed PV emulator as well as evaluate the performances of the suggested control technique in terms of accuracy, speed, and robustness against load and weather parameters variation.

Night operation, analysis, and control of single-phase quasi-Z-source photovoltaic power system
摘要: The existing single-phase, quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI), photovoltaic (PV) power system with integrated battery energy storage (BES), abbreviated as BES-qZSI-PV power system, has several well-known advantages, but cannot operate at night because there is no PV power input. In this study, a solution to overcome this issue is proposed. First, the power circuit of the conventional BES-qZSI-PV topology is modified to allow its operation at both day and night. Then, the system model for the night-operation mode is built and a qZS network parameters’ design method to limit the double-line frequency harmonic at the dc side is developed. A control strategy to ensure the high-performance operation of the system at all times, is proposed. Based on an experimental platform of single-phase BES-qZSI-PV power system, three groups of experimental tests with different qZS network parameters and battery voltages are carried out to verify the model and parameters design method by means of comparing the experimental, circuit-based simulated, and model-based calculated results. The proposed BES-qZSI-PV system performance is experimentally evaluated in steady-state operation and day-to-night transit operation, as well as by the power efficiency curves in day- and night-modes.

Control Strategy of the Pumped Storage Unit to Deal with the Fluctuation of Wind and Photovoltaic Power in Microgrid
摘要: With the development and utilization of distributed energy and microgrid, distributed energy storage has become a new development trend. However, small pumped storage units have the advantages of ?exible engineering location, low investment, quick e?ect, low requirements on transmission lines, and a better solution to the peak load demand of the system. Therefore, it is more and more used in the microgrid, and it conducts joint dispatching with wind power, photovoltaic, and other clean energies. To solve the capacity problem of small pumped storage units within the microgrid, a new control strategy is proposed in this paper. Two pumped storage units are used for joint operations. Taking the smoothed combined output power of wind power, photovoltaic power, and pumped storage power as the target, and considering the limitations of transmission lines, the constraints of wind power and photovoltaic power ?elds as well as the restrictions of pumped storage power units and corresponding reservoirs are taken into account. In this paper, social particle swarm optimization (SPSO) with improved weight is used to calculate and solve the model. The e?ectiveness of the new control strategy is veri?ed.

摘要: In order to solve the problem of insufficient frequency regulation capacity caused by the large-scale grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) generation, the active power-frequency droop control strategy and virtual inertia control strategy are proposed for electromechanical transient analysis. By modifying the control structure of the inverter, PV generation actively got involved in frequency regulation. The simulation results indicate that: the inverter can control the PV array to increase or decrease the active power generated according to the set droop control and virtual inertia control, so as to suppress the drop or rise of the grid frequency; in the dynamic process of frequency, the incremental power of PV generation induced by the dynamic action of the voltage vector of grid connection point is dependent on its virtual inertia control.

摘要: With advances in the ocean exploration, Floating Photovoltaic (FPV) system becomes appealing with the advantages of less valuable land use and higher efficiency. In current development, the PV module of the system is either fixed at an angle or actuated by motor to adjust the angle for solar tracking. In this paper, a novel Tracking-type FPV (TFPV) system is proposed and analysed. Rather than using motor as the actuation method, the proposed system utilized the natural wave energy to adjust the angle of the PV module for solar tracking. With this design, a floating PV plant can be built with reduced total cost and increased energy harvesting efficiency. The novel solar tracking design concept and a corresponding control strategy were firstly presented. Based on its dynamic modeling, the design of the system was analysed and optimized in the aspect of the structure scheme, panel size, and the adjustment frequency. A prototype was built to verify the control strategy on a 3D motion platform to simulate the wave and wind effects.

摘要: In order to improve the stability and economy of roof photovoltaic system. The frequency distribution of photovoltaic power can be obtained by using Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), and a boundary frequency algorithm is proposed to determine the frequency of photovoltaic power generation. Then, the roof photovoltaic-hybrid energy storage control model based on household load is constructed, and the model is solved by LINGO software. Data analysis and comparison show that under the condition of full life cycle and real time price of photovoltaic power generation, user economy is superior to that of fixed price condition. The effectiveness of the proposed model coordination control strategy is verified by the user’s economy.
