  • Quantum correlation interferometry in reflection: Application to the quantum–classical transition, decoherence, and indirect measurement

    摘要: A many-body interferometer is described in which all of its components are treated as quantum objects. It consists of particles reflecting elastically from a “mirror.” Quantum correlation is a consequence of conservation of energy and momentum while interference occurs when the order in which the non-local particles reflect is indeterminate. The resulting superposition exhibits correlated interference with diverse characteristics depending on the structure of the many-body wave group. Two non-local microscopic particles reflecting from a mesoscopic “mirror” illustrate unique features of this correlation interferometer. The microscopic momentum exchanged then results in small displacements of the superposed mesoscopic mirror substates, which mitigates experimental difficulties in determining the quantum-classical boundary. Quantum behavior of this mesoscopic mirror, evident in indirect measurements involving correlations between only the reflecting microscopic particles, disappears for a classical mirror which cannot exist in such superposition states.

  • Generation of N00N-like interferences with two thermal light sources

    摘要: Measuring the M th-order intensity correlation function of light emitted by two statistically independent thermal light sources may display N00N-like interferences of arbitrary order N = M/2. We show that via a particular choice of detector positions one can isolate M -photon quantum paths where either all M photons are emitted from the same source or M/2 photons are collectively emitted by both sources. The latter superposition displays N00N-like oscillations with N = M/2 which may serve, e.g., in astronomy, for imaging two distant thermal sources with M/2-fold increased resolution. We also discuss slightly modified detection schemes improving the visibility of the N00N-like interference pattern and present measurements verifying the theoretical predictions.

    摘要: Structural SVM trackers and correlation filter trackers have demonstrated dominant performance in recent object tracking benchmarks. However, structural SVM trackers naturally suffer from shortage of samples and low speed, and time-consuming adaption is need to relieve the correlation filter trackers from boundary effects. Thus, we design a jointed tracker by concatenating a high-speed SSVM method—DSLT and a multi feature CF method—STAPLE to realize advantage complementation. We show that the tracking precision and robustness can be improve by a large margin comparing to either single tracker with little sacrifice of speed.

  • Construction of Zero Correlation Zone Sequence Sets over the 16-QAM Constellation

    摘要: Based on the known binary and quaternary zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequence sets, a class of 16-QAM sequence sets with ZCZ is presented, where the term “QAM sequence” means the sequence over the quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellation. The sequence sets obtained by this method achieve an expansion in the number of 16-QAM sequence sets with ZCZ. The proposed sequence sets can be applied to quasi-synchronous code division multiple access (QS-CDMA) systems to eliminate the multiple access interference (MAI) and multipath interference (MPI) and improve the transmission data rate (TDR).

  • Pulsed interleaved excitation-based line-scanning spatial correlation spectroscopy (PIE-lsSCS)

    摘要: We report pulsed interleaved excitation (PIE) based line-scanning spatial correlation spectroscopy (PIE-lsSCS), a quantitative fluorescence microscopy method for the study of dynamics in free-standing lipid bilayer membranes. Using a confocal microscope, we scan multiple lines perpendicularly through the membrane, each one laterally displaced from the previous one by several ten nanometers. Scanning through the membrane enables us to eliminate intensity fluctuations due to membrane displacements with respect to the observation volume. The diffusion of fluorescent molecules within the membrane is quantified by spatial correlation analysis, based on the fixed lag times between successive line scans. PIE affords dual-color excitation within a single line scan and avoids channel crosstalk. PIE-lsSCS data are acquired from a larger membrane region so that sampling is more efficient. Moreover, the local photon flux is reduced compared with single-point experiments, resulting in a smaller fraction of photobleached molecules for identical exposure times. This is helpful for precise measurements on live cells and tissues. We have evaluated the method with experiments on fluorescently labeled giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) and membrane-stained live cells.

  • Canonical Correlation Analysis Regularization: An Effective Deep Multi-View Learning Baseline for RGB-D Object Recognition

    摘要: Object recognition methods based on multi-modal data, color plus depth (RGB-D), usually treat each modality separately in feature extraction, which neglects implicit relations between two views and preserves noise from any view to the ?nal representation. To address these limitations, we propose a novel Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA)-based multi-view Convolutional Neural Network (CNNs) framework for RGB-D object representation. The RGB and depth streams process corresponding images respectively, then are connected by CCA module leading to a common-correlated feature space. In addition, to embed CCA into deep CNNs in a supervised manner, two different schemes are explored. One considers CCA as a regularization term adding to the loss function (CCAR). However, solving CCA optimization directly is neither computationally ef?cient nor compatible with the mini-batch based stochastic optimization. Thus, we further propose an approximation method of CCA regularization (ACCAR), using the obtained CCA projection matrices to replace the weights of feature concatenation layer at regular intervals. Such a scheme enjoys bene?ts of full CCA regularization and is ef?cient by amortizing its cost over many training iterations. Experiments on benchmark RGB-D object recognition datasets have shown that the proposed methods outperform most existing methods using the very same of their network architectures.

  • Quantum correlation and squeezing dynamics of a dissipative nonlinear optomechanical oscillator: Heisenberg-Langevin approach

    摘要: In this paper, an optomechanical cavity that is quadratically coupled to the cavity ?eld and formed by a micropillar with Bragg re?ectors and a thin dielectric membrane, is studied. In addition, it is considered that this interaction occurs in the presence of Kerr medium, external laser ?eld and damping e?ects (for cavity ?eld and moving Bragg re?ector). Using the Heisenberg-Langevin approach, the dynamics of quantum correlation functions (for cavity ?eld and moveable re?ector) and squeezing parameters for quadratures of the cavity ?eld are investigated. In each case, the in?uences of optomechanical coupling, detuning parameter, thermal mean number of cavity photons and phonons, damping parameters and Kerr medium on the above nonclassicality features are analyzed in detail. It is illustrated that the amount of the above-mentioned physical phenomena can be controlled by appropriately choosing the evolved parameters. Also, we show that photon and phonon blockades emerge in some special cases.

  • Quantum jump statistics with a shifted jump operator in a chiral waveguide

    摘要: Resonance ?uorescence, consisting of light emission from an atom driven by a classical oscillating ?eld, is well-known to yield a sub-Poissonian photon counting statistics. This occurs when only emitted light is detected, which corresponds to a master equation (ME) unraveling in terms of the canonical jump operator describing spontaneous decay. Formally, an alternative ME unraveling is possible in terms of a shifted jump operator. We show that this shift can result in sub-Poissonian, Poissonian or super-Poissonian quantum jump statistics. This is shown in terms of the Mandel Q parameter in the limit of long counting times, which is computed through large deviation theory. We present a waveguide-QED setup, comprising a chiral waveguide coupled to a driven atom, where photon counting is described by the considered class of shifted jump operators.

    摘要: We propose and prove a theorem that allows the calculation of a class of functionals on Poisson point processes that have the form of expected values of sum–products of functions. In proving the theorem, we present a variant of the Campbell–Mecke theorem from stochastic geometry. We proceed to apply our result in the calculation of expected values involving interference in wireless Poisson networks. Based on this, we derive outage probabilities for transmissions in a Poisson network with Nakagami fading. Our results extend the stochastic geometry toolbox used for the mathematical analysis of interference-limited wireless networks.

    摘要: A novel quantization watermarking method is presented in this paper, which is developed following the established feature modulation watermarking model. In this method, a feature signal is obtained by computing the normalized correlation (NC) between the host signal and a random signal. Information modulation is carried out on the generated NC by selecting a codeword from the codebook associated with the embedded information. In a simple case, the structured codebooks are designed using uniform quantizers for modulation. The watermarked signal is produced to provide the modulated NC in the sense of minimizing the embedding distortion. The performance of the NC-based quantization modulation (NCQM) is analytically investigated, in terms of the embedding distortion and the decoding error probability in the presence of valumetric scaling and additive noise attacks. Numerical simulations on artificial signals confirm the validity of our analyses and exhibit the performance advantage of NCQM over other modulation techniques. The proposed method is also simulated on real images by using the wavelet-based implementations, where the host signal is constructed by the detail coefficients of wavelet decomposition at the third level and transformed into the NC feature signal for the information modulation. Experimental results show that the proposed NCQM not only achieves the improved watermark imperceptibility and a higher embedding capacity in high-noise regimes, but also is more robust to a wide range of attacks, e.g., valumetric scaling, Gaussian filtering, additive noise, Gamma correction, and Gray-level transformations, as compared with the state-of-the-art watermarking methods.
