Flat gain C?+?L band using optical amplifiers for 200?×?14?Gbps DWDM system
摘要: This paper has shown the analysis of 200 channels dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system with the data rate of 14 Gbps for attaining the flat gain for the channel spectrum from 1520 to 1640 nm. Analysis has also extended with the power amplification of erbium–ytterbium co-doped optical amplifier (EYBCDOWA) and Raman optical amplifier for the transmission distance of 120 km to mitigate the effect of crosstalk and bit error rate (BER). Final analysis has also recommended that this proposed system is capable to deliver the flat gain of 19.5 dB with minor variation of 0.95 dB to maintain the acceptable dense communication for long distance.

Compensation of the fluctuations of differential delay for frequency transfer in DWDM networks
摘要: This paper investigates the possibility of improving the stability of radio frequency transfer in telecommunication Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) fiber optic networks. As it has been identified, the dispersion compensation in these networks, cause fibers (DCFs), frequently used temperature-induced substantial differential delay, whose fluctuations have the most significant impact on deterioration of the stability of frequency transfer. The authors present a method that allows achieving significant improvement of the long-term stability of frequency transfer. The developed method is based on modeling the impact of DCFs with the help of remotely accessible temperature sensors factory-installed by the manufactures in DCF modules. The effectiveness of the proposed solution has been tested on three different long haul routes (up to 1550 km), set up in the operational PIONER network.

Evaluation of Signal Regeneration Impact on the Power Efficiency of Long-Haul DWDM Systems
摘要: Due to potential economic benefits and expected environmental impact, the power consumption issue in wired networks has become a major challenge. Furthermore, continuously increasing global Internet traffic demands high spectral efficiency values. As a result, the relationship between spectral efficiency and energy consumption of telecommunication networks has become a popular topic of academic research over the past years, where a critical parameter is power efficiency. The present research contains calculation results that can be used by optical network designers and operators as guidance for developing more power efficient communication networks if the planned system falls within the scope of this paper. The research results are presented as average aggregated traffic curves that provide more flexible data for the systems with different spectrum availability. Further investigations could be needed in order to evaluate the parameters under consideration taking into account particular spectral parameters, e.g., the entire C-band.

20?Gb/s Hybrid CWDM/DWDM for Extended Reach Fiber to the Home Network Applications
摘要: Five channels hybrid DWDM/CWDM fiber to the home optical network with bit rate of 20 Gb/s has been demonstrated in this paper. The role of DWDM to increase the network capacity with the same service quality has been illustrated. Upgrading the already running network to cover the extra number of subscribers and the different destinations that asked for the fiber links is discussed. The role of the dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) in enhancing the network has been demonstrated. The comparison between the different methods of the dispersion compensation using DCF is illustrated. The effect of the DWDM on the network and optimizing the transmission power to achieve the required distances are discussed.

摘要: At the Italian national level, GARR optical network is composed of two separate optical network domains. With the aim to integrate them we decided to use the alien wavelength technique. This is a hybrid solution based on the transmission and reception of optical signals, called alien wavelengths, that are transported on an infrastructure that is different from the one that generated them. We tested the technique first on a field trial, on two portions of our network of about 350 and 1200km long in order to measure the achievable performance. Based on the successful results we then implemented such technique on the production environment on about 3000km to deliver high-performance services. In this way we improved the overall efficiency of the Italian research and education network in a cost-effective way. This paper describes the overall activity, results and our experience in integrating the alien wavelengths in a production environment, with a special emphasis on deployment and operational issues.

Performance Investigate and Analysis of 96?×?10 Gbps DWDM System Using Suitable Rating from Optical Amplifiers
摘要: The objective of current work is to design and analyzed 96 × 10 Gbps DWDM system taking EDFA, SOA, and RAMAN amplifier as an inline amplifiers up to a fiber length of 300 km. The performance of EDFA, SOA, and RAMAN amplifier is measured on the basis of power received, Q-factor, probability of error and BER for various values of fiber distance. In this paper it has been proved that for 96 channels DWDM system at 10 Gbps bit rate, EDFA reveals superior performance as far as the amount of power received is concerned. The value of quality factor (Q-factor) for RAMAN amplifier is almost identical to that of the Q-factor for EDFA and is higher than the Q-factor for SOA till a fiber length of roughly 80 km thereafter SOA reveals somewhat better Q-factor than EDFA and RAMAN amplifier. As far as BER is concerned EDFA and RAMAN amplifier show roughly identical and somewhat lower BER than SOA till a fiber length of roughly 80 km, afterwards SOA reveal somewhat lesser BER till the fiber length of 210 km. In relation to the probability of error P(E), It is analyzed that P(E) remains more or less same for the entire set of optical amplifiers (OAs) but beyond the fiber length of 240 km EDFA shows somewhat lower P(E) than the other two OAs. At the end the Eye diagrams for the three OAs are also figure out.

摘要: In recent years, a rapid growth of new technologies requires communication systems to support higher bit rate and longer distance. The Optical network is one of the best optimal solutions which can satisfy the demand for high data rate. The performance of current optical networks depends on the traffic demands. To minimize the traffic mixed line rate (MLR) optical network is implemented. In a transparent MLR optical network, data transmission is done over different wavelength at different line rates within the same fiber. MLR optical networks with data rate 10/40/100 Gb/s over different wavelength channels is a new networking paradigm. This paper considers various modulation techniques in order to achieve better bit error rates (BER). It also shows that modulation technique has a great role in improving the data rates and quality of transmission.

Suppression of four-wave mixing in a 22?×?10?Gbps dense wavelength division multiplexed system by linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings
摘要: A scheme comprising two linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings (LCFBGs) is proposed to suppress four-wave mixing (FWM) effects in a 22×10? Gbps dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) system employing dispersion shifted fiber with 0.2? nm channel spacing. The FWM reduction in our proposed scheme has been studied by varying the input signal power per channel from ? 2 to + 10? dBm. The parameters of LCFBGs are optimized to obtain a maximum quality factor for all 22 channels. The proposed method is effective even at high input power (10?dBm) and provides a simple, cost effective way to improve the transmission performance in DWDM system.

Design of a tunable DWDM multiplexer using four defect layers of GaAs nonlinear photonic crystals
摘要: The transmission characteristic of a defective 1-D nonlinear photonic crystal structure is numerically simulated using transfer matrix method. The photonic crystal structure consists of four defective layers of GaAs which introduces between the alternating layers of two semiconductor materials. Here, Intensity as well as wavelength based refractive index of one semiconductor layer (GaAs) has been considered. It is theoretically studied that when the thicknesses of defected layers are decreased upto 120 nm then the transmittance of the structure is improved and it approaches 100 %. When a number of defective layers introduced in the proposed structure the transmittance of the structure is improved. Also the average line-width, quality factor and efficiency of this structure observed 0.31 nm, 6699.31 and 99.7 % when a Kerr coefficient is introduced in these 4-defect layers and it acts as a tunable DWDM demultiplexer for optical communication.

Research on the Performance of 40 Gbps UV Communication System Based on DWDM
摘要: Due to the atmospheric transmission attenuation, the rate of UV communication is low and range is limited at present. According to the idea of DWDM in optical fiber communication, we proposed a 40 Gbps UV communication scheme, which has 8 channels in total. The transmission rate of each channel is 5 Gbps. And its performance was simulated by the optical communication system simulation design software which is called OptiSystem. Simulation analysis shows that the maximum transmission distance of the designed system is up to 1200 meters under the transmission rate of 40 Gbps without any compensation scheme. On the 280nm channel, the minimum error rate and Q factor are 1.56-14 and 7.59201 at 1 km respectively. When the transmission distance reaches 1.5 kilometers, the bit error rate becomes very high and the communication effect is very poor. The simulation results can provide reference for the design of UV communication system.
