Natural Dyes Extracted from Fruits of Phyllanthus reticulatus as Sensitizers in ZnO Nanorods Based Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
摘要: DSSCs are a promising class of photovoltaic cells with the capability of generating green energy at low production cost since no expensive equipment is required in their fabrication. Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method and their perfomance as photoanodes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) employing I-/I3- as electrolyte and the dye extracts from fruits of Phyllanthus reticulatus as sensitizers was analyzed. the structural and surface characterization of the ZnO nanorods were accomplished using X- ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM). XRD results revealed that the synthesized ZnO material exhibited hexagonal crystal structure which was found to be highly stable and crystallite. The dielectric properties of the ZnO nanorods were analyzed. The dye extracts were subjected to UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy analysis. The short-circuit photocurrent, the open-circuit photovoltage, and the power conversion efficiency of DSSC were measured using J-V measurement system.

Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Using Natural Dye as Light-Harvesting Material Extracted From the Leaves of Peltophoroum Pterocarpum
摘要: The Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) was fabricated using the dye extracted from the leaves of Peltophorum pterocarpum. The dye was extracted using cold extraction with ethanol and water. The absorption nature of the extracted dye was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrometer. The structural property of the pure titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles was analyzed using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The Surface morphology of the synthesized pure TiO2 nanoparticles was identified with high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM) analysis. The TiO2 films were coated on Fluorine doped Tin Oxide (FTO) using doctor blade method. The current - voltage character of the prepared DSSC are measured. From the J-V characteristic curves of cells, the parameters related to the solar cell performance were calculated. Natural dye is biodegradable and non-toxic having most of the extraction process harmless to environment. In addition, natural dye has the promising future as it is abundant.

Effect of Temperature on Shape & Optical Properties of MgO/ZnO Nanocomposites
摘要: MgO/ZnO nanocomposites were synthesized by mixing magnesium acetate tetrahydrate and zinc acetate in the equimolar ratio through a simple reflux method. The refluxed sample was annealed at three different temperatures 400, 500 and 600 oC, respectively. X-ray diffraction spectra (XRD) showed wurtzite ZnO structure with cubic MgO. The HR-SEM picture showed the rod shaped morphology at 400 °C and morphology changed to spherical shape with the increase in temperature to 600 °C. Williamson-Hall plot is used to study the particle size and micro strain of the synthesized MgO/ZnO nanocomposites. The band gap and luminescent property were investigated using ultra violet-visible and photoluminescence spectra. The optical property of MgO/ZnO nanocomposites depends on the annealing temperature which is shown by the increase in the band gap as temperature increases.
