    摘要: In standalone renewable energy systems, it is most essential to deploy energy storage devices to compensate for the intermittent and random output power generation. Since the last few years, hybrid energy storage devices (HESDs) composed of two or more energy storage technologies are being adopted in these power systems. In this paper, a standalone photovoltaic system with battery-ultracapacitor HESD has been considered for case study. A suitable problem formulation with the necessary objective function and constraints has been developed for the system. A variant of one of the popular meta-heuristic techniques, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been used to address the optimization problem. The simulation results along with the convergence characteristics of the algorithm have been presented. It is observed that the proposed technique can produce comparable results.

  • Polarization-Tracking-Free PDM Supporting Hybrid Digital-Analog Transport for Fixed-Mobile Systems

    摘要: For ?xed services such as hybrid ?ber-coaxial (HFC) and passive optical network (PON) with deployed ?ber networks, it is desirable to exploit the potentials to support wireless services in ?fth-generation (5G) mobile data communications on top of the existing ?xed networks. We propose a polarization-division multiplexing (PDM) scheme to achieve co-delivery of independent signals for ?xed-mobile convergence. This is achieved by removing unwanted optical carrier in each polarization, thus the proposed system can resolve the polarization-tracking issue in conventional PDM. It has been demonstrated in this letter that the polarization-tracking-free PDM system can support co-transmission of respective 70-Gbps digital and analog signals over 20-km single mode ?ber. Experimental results have shown low crosstalk between two polarizations. The proposed PDM system is compatible with wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) network and is capable of enhancing the spectral ef?ciency of WDM channels. The inherent single-sideband feature of the proposed PDM also enhances long-range services.

  • Polymorphism and Structural Filiations in Five New Organic–Inorganic Hybrid Salts of the Heteroleptic Cationic Iridium(III) Complex and Polyoxometalates

    摘要: Five new hybrid compounds ionically associating the phosphorescent heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complex [IrIII(ppy)2(bpy)]+ ([Ir]+) (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and anionic polyoxometalates (POMs) units have been successfully elaborated, namely, [Ir]2[W6O19]·H2O (m-Ir2W6), [Ir]2[W6O19] (t-Ir2W6-2), [Ir]2[Mo6O19] (t-Ir2Mo6-2), [Ir]4[α-Mo8O26]·4DMF·5H2O (Ir4αMo8DMF), and [Ir]2(HDMA)2[β-Mo8O26]·2DMF·H2O (HDMA+ = dimethylammonium) (Ir2βMo8HDMA). These systems differ by the composition and the topology of the POMs, the [Ir]+/POM ratio, the nature of the other counter-cations, and the presence or not of crystallized solvent molecules. Their crystal structures and their photoluminescent properties have been determined and compared with those of a previously reported series of [Ir]+/POM assemblies revealing polymorphism and structural filiations. The emission properties of the compounds are strongly modulated by the nature of the POM units and the crystal packing of the hybrid frameworks.

  • Uneven-to-Even Power Distribution for Maintaining High Efficiency of Dual-Linearly Polarized Rectenna

    摘要: The RF-to-dc power conversion ef?ciency (PCE) of the conventional dual-linearly polarized (DLP) rectenna often suffers from uneven RF power received by two ports of the DLP antenna, which is caused by a tilt angle between the linearly polarized incidence and the two polarizations of the antenna. In this letter, a hybrid coupler is employed to redistribute the uneven power from the DLP antenna to two even power distributions for a successive modi?ed Greinacher charge pump (GCP). Thus, a high RF-to-dc PCE of the modi?ed GCP can be maintained. Both theoretical analysis and experiment validate the proposed power distribution scheme, which maintains a stable high PCE of a DLP rectenna irrespective of polarization tilt angle. The proposed scheme is, thus, suitable for high-ef?ciency wireless power transfer.

  • Unveiling the Chemical Composition of Halide Perovskite Films Using Multivariate Statistical Analyses

    摘要: The local chemical composition of halide perovskites is a crucial factor in determining their macroscopic properties and their stability. While the combination of scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) is a powerful and widely used tool for accessing such information, electron-beam-induced damage and complex formulation of the films make this investigation challenging. Here we demonstrate how multivariate analysis – including statistical routines derived from “big data” research, such as Principal Component Analysis, PCA – can be used to dramatically improve the signal recovery from fragile materials. We also show how a similar decomposition algorithm (Non-negative Matrix Factorisation, NMF) can unravel elemental composition at the nanoscale in perovskite films, highlighting the presence of segregated species and identifying the local stoichiometry at the nanoscale.

  • Purposive Assembling of Poly(3-hexylthiophene) onto Chemically Treated Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotube versus Reduced Graphene Oxide

    摘要: Surfaces of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets were chemically modified to design distinct donor-acceptor nano-hybrids having different morphologies and orientations. In unmodified CNTs and their derivatives functionalized with 2-hydroxymethyl thiophene (CNT-f-COOTh) and grafted with poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (CNT-g-PDDT), double-fibrillar, shish-kebab, and stem-leaf nanostructures were decorated. Furthermore, rGO nanosheets functionalized with 2-thiophene acetic acid (rGO-f-TAA) and grafted with poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (rGO-g-PDDT) were prepared to study differences in CNT and rGO supramolecules. Three types of orientations subsuming face-on, edge-on, and flat-on were detected in nano-hybrids based on CNT and rGO. Morphology (fibrillar) and orientation (face-on) of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) assemblies were similar onto unmodified CNT and rGO nanostructures. Although patternings of P3HT chains were completely different onto functionalized CNT and rGO (shish-kebab versus nanocrystal decorated nanosheets), edge-on orientation was detected in CNT-f-COOTh/P3HT and rGO-f-TAA/P3HT nano-hybrids. In CNT-g-PDDT/P3HT and rGO-g-PDDT/P3HT systems, P3HT chains were extendedly assembled onto grafted carbonic materials; however, their different natures reflected stem-leaf and patched-like configurations, respectively. For unmodified, functionalized, and grafted CNT and rGO patterned with P3HT chains, a photoluminescence quenching was detected for a donor-acceptor nature. Owing to flat-on oriented P3HTs, the best photoluminescence quenching, thereby the best donating-accepting features were detected for CNT-g-PDDT/P3HT and rGO-g-PDDT/P3HT supramolecules.

  • Superluminal effect in a hybrid nano-electro-optomechanical system

    摘要: We theoretically investigate the phenomenon of superluminosity of the transmission probe field under the effect of a strong driving field in a hybrid nano-electro-optomechnical system comprising two coupled charged mechanical end resonators connected by bias voltages. The first mechanical charged mirror is connected to the optical field, while the second charged mirror is coupled by Coulomb coupling. We find that the superluminal behavior of the transmitted probe field can be switched by adjusting the cavity field detuning and atom field detuning. The present study extends the previously developed simple optomechanical and nano-electro-optomechanical system. Moreover, the group delay of the pulse advancement can be controlled by adjusting the electrostatic Coulomb coupling and the power of the driving field. We explain the effect of atomic field detuning on the superluminal behavior in the regimes of anti-Stokes sidebands, i.e., ?a=?ω1.

  • NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au/GO-nanohybrid materials for SERS applications –Pb(II) detection and prediction

    摘要: Nowadays, nano hybrid materials (NHMs) with latent applications have been employed in different fields, particularly for sensor applications. Among NHMs, GO based - upconversion NHMs system is an emerging area for the rapid detection of different hazardous materials either as an aptamer based or free-labeled sensing techniques. For the detection of Pb(II) in water, NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au/GO-NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au NHMs system was developed. The synthesized NHMs were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM with EDS, TEM and Raman characterization techniques for observation and confirmation. NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au/GO-NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au NHMs fabricated sensors were observed to detect and quantify on real-time basis Pb(II) via surface-enhanced-Raman spectroscopy within the dynamic linear range of 98 – 99%, with detection limits of 1.16 × 10-9 g/mL and 1.15×10-8 g/mL obtained respectively for NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au and GO- NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au NHMs.. The relative standard deviation (RSD) value achieved for both were less than ~10%, indicative of reproducibility in the quantification results for Pb(II) traces in water when combined with genetic algorithm partial least square (GA-PLS). Results suggest that the GO-NHMs better enhanced the SERS Pb (II) vis-à-vis NaYF4@Yb,Ho,Au. The GO-wrapped NHMs exhibited a further better SERS performance because the heterostructure of GO-NHMs could be potentially useful for SERS-based immunoassay due to the much easier charge transfer between graphene and the metal ions and molecules so the homogeneity of the SERS probe was improved simultaneously (chemical enhancement) by GO-NHMs.

    摘要: Here we report on a flexible, foil based packaging process in which a standard commercially available MEMS capacitive air pressure sensor is packaged in an “open package” configuration such that the sensitive membrane side of the MEMS is always in contact with the ambient atmosphere. Additionally, the matching ASIC chip to readout the MEMS sensor is integrated into the same package in a System-in-Foil (SiF) configuration. Here, both the MEMS and the ASIC wafers were thinned down to 250 μm, which resulted in a combined package height profile of < 0.5 mm. This foil based patch sensor has then been characterized in ambient air and its performance has been compared against a commercial MEMS (bare die) sensor available as standard Surface Mounted Device (SMD) component having a package height of 1 mm. The electrical performance and the functionality under thermal cycling and thermal shocks of these packaged sensors were found to be identical to the commercially available SMD variant. Furthermore, to demonstrate the applicability of such a thin, flexible foil sensor patch in the field of ?non-invasive“ air pressure measurements on planar and curved surfaces, these sensors were mounted onto the carrosserie of a car at different locations and the air pressure change due to the laminar / non-laminar flow of air (or air turbulence) over these control surfaces were measured. The results further verify the need for such low profile packaging such that the airflow over control surfaces can be measured without disturbing the laminar airflow. This opens up the application field of these packaged sensors for wind turbines, aircraft wings, skyscrapers/buildings and automotive applications.

  • Optimizing electrospinning-hydrothermal hybrid process based on Taguchi method for modulation of point defects in ZnO micro/nano arrays towards photoelectronic application

    摘要: Unlike previous work generally adopting high temperature annealing (≥500 ℃) to suppress defects in hydrothermal grown ZnO, this work suppressed ZnO defects by optimizing overall process parameters of low temperature electrospinning-hydrothermal hybrid process (≤300 ℃) with Taguchi method and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Sum ratio of defect peaks to eigen peaks (SRDE) in room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum was proposed to evaluate defect conditions in 27 experiments (L27 (38)). With the optimal process, good crystal quality (SRDE=0.31) was achieved at low temperature (200 ℃), of which the SRDE decreased by 68.04% compared with the initial counterpart. Then confirmation experiment was conducted to validate the selected levels, and results of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) showed good agreement with the predicted ones. Besides, the response time and recovery time of the ZnO photodetectors with optimal process were decreased by 72.5% and 79.3%, respectively, compared with the initial ones. This method can also be used to fabricate ZnO materials with other wanted defect features.
