摘要: The paper presents a semi-analytical hybrid approach for modelling the interaction of a piezoelectric transducer and with a periodic elastic structure with a crack. It combines advantages of the frequency domain spectral element method using Gauss–Legendre–Lobatto polynomials and the boundary integral approach. The unknown crack-opening-displacement and the traction vector in the contact area are determined via Galerkin method.

Novel anti-ultraviolet performances of thin films polyurethane containing nano-mixed oxides CeO <sub/>2</sub> -TiO <sub/>2</sub>
摘要: The nano-mixed oxides CeO2-TiO2 was synthesized by gel combustion method using polyvinyl alcohol as fuel and mixtures of titanium trichloride and cerium(IV) nitrate at a relatively low calcination temperature of 550°C for 2 h. The prepared CeO2-TiO2 nanoparticles with a specific area of 65.70 m2 g-1 were dispersed in polyurethane matrix in different concentration conditions from 0.0 to 1.5 wt% to study ultraviolet durability following HONDA HES D 6501-97 standards. After 400 h of testing in the QUV accelerate weathering tester, the thin film containing 1 wt% CeO2-TiO2 nano-mixed oxides has presented the noticeable capacity for absorbing ultraviolet light by only 6.8 g.u change in specular gloss at 60° and DE = 3.66 in color difference.

Tripyridine-Derivatives-Derived Semiconducting Iodo-argentate/cuprate Hybrids with Excellent Visible-light Induced Photocatalytic Performance
摘要: Through regulating the pH values, a series of iodo-argentate/cuprate hybrids, [Me3(4-TPT)]4[Ag6I18] (1, Me3(4-TPT) = N,N’,N’’-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine), [Me3(4-TPT)][M5I8] (M=Ag/2, Cu/2a), [Me3(3-TPT)][M5I8] (Me3(3-TPT) = N,N’,N’’-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(3-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine, M=Ag/3, Cu/4), exhibit adjustable structural variations with different dimensional structures, have been obtained under solvothermal conditions. They are directed by two types of in situ N-alkylation TPT-derivatives (Me3(4-TPT) for 1/2/2a and Me3(3-TPT) for 3/4) and represent the isolated units (1), 1-D polymeric chain (4), 2-D layered structures (2/2a, 3) based on diverse metal iodide clusters. These compounds possess reducing band gaps comparing with the bulk β-AgI and CuI and belong to potential semiconductor materials. Iodocuprates feature highly efficient photocatalytic activity in sunlight-induced degradation of organic dyes. The detailed study on the possible photocatalytic mechanism, including the radical trapping tests and theoretical calculations, reveals that the N-alkylation TPT moieties contribute to the narrow semiconducting behavior and effectively inhibit the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs, which result in an excellent visible-light induced photocatalytic performance.

Hydrophilicity and Water Contact Angle on Methylammonium Lead Iodide
摘要: Surface properties are often assessed with measurements of the contact angle of a water drop. The process is however flawed for the very important class of hybrid perovskite materials, extensively employed in solar cells and optoelectronics research, because they are water soluble and their surface degrades during contact angle measurements. While hybrid perovskites are considered to be highly hydrophilic, a contact angle with water of 83° can be measured, as if they were almost hydrophobic. By combining experiments and simulations, the actual value is explained as the result of the interaction of water with degraded superficial layers that form over sub-millisecond time scale at the water/perovskite interface. The models are validated against contact angle measurements for water on a variety of substrates, and are referenced to with the Young–Dupré relation between liquid–solid adhesion and contact angle. Present work reconciles the hydrophilic nature of methylammonium lead iodide with the apparent hydrophobic behavior in contact angle measurements, proposing a methodology for the study of contact angle on evolving substrates.

15.4: Optical Rewritable Liquid Crystal Displays without Front Polarizer
摘要: A front polarizer-free optically rewritable (ORW) liquid crystal displays (LCDs) has been made via a hybrid alignment configuration with dye-doped LCs. The hybrid structure consists of one optically active planar and one optically passive homeotropic alignment layer. The rewritability of the device is achieved by photo- reorienting the azo dye molecules in the active planar alignment layer. The dye doped in LCs function as a polarizer by following the LCs alignment via a guest-host effect so that the front polarizer can be eliminated. This makes the device more compact and easier to operate for image erasing and rewriting. The image rewriting time only requires ~9.0s, which is determined by the exposure energy and LC parameters. The hybrid-mode dye-doped optically rewritable (DDORW) LCD devices could find applications in E-paper, transparent display and various photonics devices.

Dynamic simulation, control, and performance evaluation of a synergistic solar and natural gas hybrid power plant
摘要: Solar power is considered among the leading renewable energy technologies. Abundant supply, flexibility of installation, and decreasing cost makes it an interesting renewable energy resource. However, there are challenges associated with the reliability of solar power due to its intermittent nature. This work demonstrates the synergies that exist in integrated hybrid systems, where a dispatchable fuel is used in conjunction with concentrated solar power. In this simulation-based study, a parabolic trough solar concentrator is used to collect solar energy. The heat collected from the solar field is used to generate steam in a Rankine cycle. The system also utilizes natural gas combustion in the steam generator to provide supplemental steam when the solar intensity is reduced due to cloud cover or at night. Natural gas is also used for superheating the steam, which allows the system to produce higher temperatures and achieve increased thermodynamic cycle efficiencies. This flexible design produces 100 MW at nominal conditions, while it is capable of producing a maximum of 140 MW when sufficient solar energy is available. The novel contributions of this work include a complete, systems-level, dynamic model of a hybrid solar plant. The model is complete with a control system that smoothly transitions the plant from pure natural gas mode at night to solar hybrid mode during the day. It evaluates innovative design features such as flexible fuel operation, steam superheating to boost efficiency, and preheating by solar or waste heat. Furthermore, this work demonstrates that by hybridizing a solar system with a dispatchable energy source, both the reliability and efficiency of the solar power production are increased. The annual solar-to-electric efficiency increases from 15.2% to 26.13% with hybridization, which indicates that utilization of the solar energy is effectively increased.

Performance Analysis of a PV/Diesel Hybrid System for a Remote Area in Bangladesh: Effects of Dispatch Strategies, Batteries, and Generator Selection
摘要: This paper investigates the performance of PV/Diesel/Batt system for a stand-alone hybrid application in a remote community in Bangladesh meeting a load demand of 350kWh/day with a 74.34kW peak load demand. The effects of different dispatch strategies on the Cost of Energy (COE) and the Net Present Cost (NPC) using two major battery technologies (Lead Acid-LA and Lithium-ion) is studied. The study also extended to analyse the effects of selection of diesel generator in Hybrid Optimisation Model for Electric Renewables (HOMER) software tool on the performance indicators. Results indicate that the Combined Dispatch (CD) strategy has slightly lower Cost of Energy compared to the Load Following-LF and Cyclic Charging-CC strategies. However, operational emissions for Load Following Strategy is significantly lower than the other two strategies for both hybridised systems. The Renewable Fraction is greater in Load Following than the Combined Dispatch and Cyclic Charging strategies at the cost of Excess Energy (EE). The results also show that capital cost and the discount rate have a significant effect on Cost of Energy and Net Present Cost. However the fuel, battery, and PV module costs have negligible effects for both PV/Diesel/LA and the PV/Diesel/Li-ion-based hybrid systems.

Hybrid structure Mach–Zehnder interferometer based on silica and fluorinated polyimide microfibers for temperature or salinity sensing in seawater
摘要: An all-fiber hybrid structure Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) based on silica fiber and fluorinated polyimide microfiber (FPMF) for temperature or salinity sensing in seawater is proposed. Theoretically, transmission characteristic and sensing sensitivity of the MZI are derived for this kind of hybrid structure, and typical interference spectrum is observed around optical communication band. Experimentally, by tracking the shift of interference peaks, temperature and salinity sensing are demonstrated with sensitivities of about 140pm/°C and 64pm/‰, respectively, which are much higher than those of existing fiber Bragg gratings and microfiber knot resonators. In addition, dependences of sensitivity on sensor parameters, such as fiber diameter and fiber lengths, are also investigated. Unlike the other microfiber based sensors that higher sensitivity usually comes from the thinner fiber, sensors demonstrated here show that sensitivities can be tuned by changing the path-length difference of the two arms, which greatly decreases the difficulty in component fabrications. Temperature or salinity sensor demonstrated here show advantages of simple fabrication, low cost, tunable sensitivity and dynamic range, relatively high sensitivity and compatible with standard fiber optics system, which may have potential applications in developing low cost and compact size optical sensors in ocean or other liquid surroundings.

Analysis of selection combining scheme for hybrid FSO/RF transmission considering misalignment
摘要: This paper investigates the hybrid free-space optical (FSO)/radio frequency (RF) communication system under the selection combining (SC) diversity scheme. A benefit of this system is that it does not require channel-state information. The performance of the system is analyzed taking into consideration the fading effects and the pointing errors in this paper. The Nakagami-m model and the gamma–gamma model are adopted to describe the multipath effects of the RF link and the turbulence effects of the FSO link, respectively. The closed-form expressions of the outage probability and bit-error-rate (BER) are derived in this paper. The numerical simulations indicate that the hybrid FSO/RF system with SC is more reliable than the either RF link or FSO link, and it performs better than the hybrid system without SC.

Single crystal hybrid perovskite field-effect transistors
摘要: The fields of photovoltaics, photodetection and light emission have seen tremendous activity in recent years with the advent of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites. Yet, there have been far fewer reports of perovskite-based field-effect transistors. The lateral and interfacial transport requirements of transistors make them particularly vulnerable to surface contamination and defects rife in polycrystalline films and bulk single crystals. Here, we demonstrate a spatially-confined inverse temperature crystallization strategy which synthesizes micrometre-thin single crystals of methylammonium lead halide perovskites MAPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) with sub-nanometer surface roughness and very low surface contamination. These benefit the integration of MAPbX3 crystals into ambipolar transistors and yield record, room-temperature field-effect mobility up to 4.7 and 1.5 cm2 V?1 s?1 in p and n channel devices respectively, with 104 to 105 on-off ratio and low turn-on voltages. This work paves the way for integrating hybrid perovskite crystals into printed, flexible and transparent electronics.
