摘要: In recent years, surface electromyography (sEMG) is widely used in human-computer interface (HCI). For example, it is used for prosthetic manipulation to improve the quality of amputees' life. However, sEMG approaches has some drawbacks such as poor robustness of the electrode-skin interface. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and mechanomyography (MMG) can also monitor muscle motion. Comparing with approaches that only use sEMG signal, hybrid sEMG, NIRS and MMG sensor system will have better system performance. Investigations about the fusion of sEMG, NIRS and MMG are scant. This paper presents a hybrid sEMG, NIRS and MMG sensor system and puts it into practice. Fuse surface electromyography, near-infrared spectroscopy and mechanomyography acquisition circuits into a compact sensor, which can measure the muscle motion from the modalities of electrophysiology, optics and acoustics. Using the hybrid sensor system, incremental grip force experiment is carried out to explore the relationship between the three signals, blood oxygen metabolism and grip force. And muscle fatigue is carried out in order to explain the phenomenon of muscle fatigue from the perspective of electrophysiology, blood oxygen metabolism and mechanomyography.

摘要: Hybrid change detection (HCD) for high-resolution imagery usually adopt decision-level method and rely on artificial design. To address this issue, we propose a novel feature-level fusion strategy for HCD based on iterative slow feature analysis (ISFA). First, objects are obtained by multi-resolution segmentation of bi-temporal images respectively, and corresponding feature sets are constructed through stacking pixel- and object-level spectral features. Then, slow feature analysis (SFA) is used for transforming the feature sets into a new feature space at the first time. And iteration method with variable weights is introduced to get the last slow feature fusion map, where the changed pixels and unchanged pixels can be separated more easily. At last, K-means cluster is adopted to separate changed area and unchanged area automatically and generate final change result. Experiments were conducted on bi-temporal multi-spectral images, demonstrating the good performance of the proposed approach.

摘要: This paper presents a power system configuration and control schemes for a Multi-MW wind-solar hybrid system, which includes multiple wind turbines and solar panels to support a desalination plant. The wind and solar systems are sized such that the desalination plant obtains, as far as possible, its power from the renewable sources, to minimize the dependence on the utility grid. Each section of the wind turbine system includes a variable speed permanent magnet synchronous generator connected to the grid via a back-to-back voltage source converter. The rectifier operates the wind system at the maximum power point, and the inverter provides power to the desalination plant. The solar plant has multiple panels connected to the grid via a three phase converter, performing the dual functions of power transformation and maximum power point tracking. The modeling and validation of this system is performed with the PSCAD/EMTDC, a software typically employed for transient analysis.

Chemical imaging of buried interfaces in organic-inorganic devices using FIB-ToF-SIMS
摘要: Organic-inorganic hybrid materials enable the design and fabrication of new materials with enhanced properties. The interface between the organic and inorganic materials is often critical to the device’s performance and therefore chemical characterization is of significant interest. Since the interfaces are often buried, milling by focused ion beams (FIB) to expose the interface is becoming increasingly popular. Chemical imaging can subsequently be obtained using secondary ion mass spectrometry. However, the FIB milling process damages the organic material. In this study, we make an organic-inorganic test structure to develop a detailed understanding of the processes involved in FIB milling and SIMS imaging. We provide an analysis methodology that involves a “clean-up” process using sputtering with an argon gas cluster ion source to remove the FIB induced damage. The methodology is evaluated for two additive manufactured devices, an encapsulated strain sensor containing silver tracks embedded in a polymeric material and a copper track on a flexible polymeric substrate created using a novel nanoparticle sintering technique.

摘要: The tendency of MA+-containing perovskites to degradation under humid air is still the main challenge which limits the durability of technologies. We indeed frame the behavior of MAPbI3 layer through structural and optical characterization under thermal cycles and using the environmental composition as a variable parameter (humid air, N2, Ar, O2). Within the temperature range explored (RT-80°C) we likely approach the thermal operation of the material under the sun and find that the degradation mechanism is linked to the action of water molecules by the formation of lattice defects. They rise the lattice disorder, especially at the crossover of the tetragonal to cubic transition wherein an acceleration of the degradation kinetics is observed. Nitrogen can help rationalizing solutions to stabilize the materials even at this critical transition step, since it behaves as more than an inert species.

PV-Aware Analog Sizing for Robust Analog Layout Retargeting with Optical Proximity Correction
摘要: For analog integrated circuits (ICs) in nanometer technology nodes, process variation (PV) induced by lithography may not only cause serious wafer pattern distortion, but also result in device mismatch, which can readily ruin circuit performance. Although the conventional optical proximity correction (OPC) operations can effectively improve the wafer image fidelity, an analog circuit without robust device sizes is still highly vulnerable to such a mismatch effect. In this article, a PV-aware sizing-inclusive analog layout retargeting framework, which encloses an efficient hybrid OPC scheme for yield enhancement, is proposed. The device sizes are tuned during the layout retargeting process by using a deterministic circuit-sizing algorithm considering PV conditions. Our hybrid OPC method combines global rule-based OPC with local model-based OPC functions to boost the wafer image quality improvement but without degrading the computational efficiency. The experimental results show that our proposed framework can achieve the best wafer image quality and circuit performance preservation compared to any other alternative approaches.

摘要: This paper presents a comparison study for various types of battery technologies using selected BESS parameters in a hybrid PV and wind power plant taking the aging of the batteries into account. The optimization problem was reformulated as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem, with the aim being to minimize the overall operating cost. IBM CPLEX was used to solve the problem. For forecasting, two techniques, i.e., the persistence and Elman Neural Network, were applied for both day-ahead and hour-ahead forecasting. Moreover, four case studies were performed, including the scenario without battery, day-ahead dispatch, day-ahead dispatch with a rolling horizon and hour-ahead dispatch. The simulation results showed that hour-ahead dispatch demonstrated the highest profitability. Furthermore, among different battery technologies, lithium-ion batteries resulted in the highest operating profits, whereas lead-acid batteries had the shortest payback period and vanadium redox flow batteries demonstrated the least degradation from cycling.

摘要: Proper design of an energy storage system can effectively and economically smooth out the PV power fluctuation and improve the power quality. A frequency analysis based hybrid energy storage devices (ESDs) selection method as well as typical PV data selection method are proposed to determine an optimum energy storage combination to meet the requirement of a power grid. A Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method is applied to analyze PV output power fluctuations. FFT is also applied to determine the most representative PV output data for the design cycle. The proposed algorithm divided the entire PV output power frequency spectrum into low and high ranges. The divisions are based on the characteristics of individual ESD’s as well as their cycle life and capacity loss. Through the proposed method, the lowest-cost ESD solution can be determined to meet the requirements to smooth out PV output fluctuation under the most representative weather pattern.

摘要: The variable nature of renewable energy sources, coupled with unpredictable changes in load, requires the simultaneous implementation of high power and high energy density storage systems. This work addresses dynamic modeling, a PV/Batteries/Ultra capacitor hybrid energy system connected to a DC load in a remote house located around the town of Rouyn Noranda (Quebec-Canada) during one day in winter period. The P&O MPPT control is used to extract the maximum power of a photovoltaic generator which is considered as the main energy source of the hybrid system. In this paper, batteries and ultra-capacitors (UC) are serving as an energy storage system (ESS) and a main source in winter period. The UC are used for facing high frequency variations of the load, such as in transient state, while the batteries are in charge of slow load/source variations. Classical control of battery current and ultra-capacitor current allows choosing the suitable storage element in order to face correctly the production/consummation variations. Classical PI control strategy is proposed in manner to stabilize the DC bus voltage by controlling the attached DC/DC bidirectional converters. Simulations during 00 AM to 3 PM (during a snowy day) are carried out using Matlab/Simulink which confirm the good performances of the hybrid system and associated control systems.

1-to-N Ring Power Combiners With Common Delta Ports
摘要: In this paper, we present a new 1-to-N way ring combiner that is an adaptation of the ring-hybrid (rat-race) structure. We present the general design guidelines for N-way planar ring combiners based on theoretical analysis of the structures. The proposed 1-to-N way ring structure offers a compact, planar layout that includes a single common delta port. This is beneficial to applications where power monitoring, calibration, or energy recycling can be leveraged. It offers similar loss to other N-way structures. To demonstrate the combiners operation, we present completely passive structures and structures with embedded power amplifiers for 4- and 6-way variants. The designs are optimized for operation in the 5–6 GHz unlicensed bands. The passive 4- and 6-way combiners achieve IL of 1.3 and 1 dB, respectively, with associated port isolations of <?30 dB. The combiners with embedded amplifiers show similar performance and are validated using modulated signals and demonstrate good measured linearity when combining up to 6 amplifiers for output powers >1 W.
