  • Band gap analysis of periodic structures based on cell experimental frequency response functions (FRFs)

    摘要: An approach is proposed to estimate the transfer function of the periodic structure, which is known as an absorber due to its repetitive cells leading to the band gap phenomenon. The band gap is a frequency range in which vibration will be inhibited. A transfer function is usually performed to gain band gap. Previous scholars regard estimation of the transfer function as a forward problem assuming known cell mass and stiffness matrices. However, the estimation of band gap for irregular or complicated cells is hardly accurate because it is difficult to model the cell exactly. Therefore, we treat the estimation as an inverse problem by employing modal identification and curve fitting. A transfer matrix is then established by parameters identified through modal analysis. Both simulations and experiments have been performed. Some interesting conclusions about the relationship between modal parameters and band gap have been achieved.

  • Automatic fracture–vug identification and extraction from electric imaging logging data based on path morphology

    摘要: We present a path morphology method to separate total rock pore space into matrix, fractures and vugs and derive their pore structure spectrum. Thus, we can achieve fine pore evaluation in fracture–vug reservoirs based on electric imaging logging data. We automatically identify and extract fracture–vug information from the electric imaging images by adopting a path morphological operator that remains flexible enough to fit rectilinear and slightly curved structures because they are independent of the structuring element shape. The Otsu method was used to extract fracture–vug information from the background noise caused by the matrix. To accommodate the differences in scale and form of the different target regions, including fracture and vug path, operators with different lengths were selected for their recognition and extraction at the corresponding scale. Polynomial and elliptic functions are used to fit the extracted fractures and vugs, respectively, and the fracture–vug parameters are deduced from the fitted edge. Finally, test examples of numerical simulation data and several measured well data have been provided for the verification of the effectiveness and adaptability of the path morphology method in the application of electric imaging logging data processing. This also provides algorithm support for the fine evaluation of fracture–vug reservoirs.

  • Circular economy in RFID technology: analysis of recycling methods of RFID tags

    摘要: Circular Economy (CE) is one of the approaches which are intensively developed and tested in different areas of industry and services. The aim of this solution is to use many kinds of resources in a closed flow and to achieve as a small amount of waste as it is possible. One of the potential areas of using CE is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). In RFID systems tags are utilized in various forms. This paper addresses investigation of a recycling process of RFID tags. Different attachment methods of these tags were tested and then, a recycling procedure was prepared based on the obtained results in which adhesives are recommended to be used as an attaching material between a tag and an identified object. The mentioned procedure was evaluated with using paper-face RFID tags. It was confirmed applicability of the proposed solution. Moreover, the conducted research revealed that an adhesion force of the adhesive layers in the prepared RFID tags decreased in the most extent during the first recycling cycle. It was found that in order to preserve a high adhesion force of these layers it is suggested to place the tags on a clean surface.

  • Optical thickness identification of few-layer MoS <sub/>2</sub> deposited by chemical vapor deposition

    摘要: The physical and optoelectronic properties of MoS2 are closely related to their thickness. Few-layer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been intensively studied for its potential applications. In this work, monolayer and few-layer MoS2 nanosheets with large size and high crystallization quality were successfully prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Then, the layer number of CVD-grown MoS2 nanosheets were identified for the first time by extracting the R channel contrast of the optical image of the sample with ImageJ software. Compared with Raman spectra and PL spectra, this method can identify the layer number of CVD-grown MoS2 nanosheets efficiently and accurately, which provides a simple and feasible method for the study of the layer number of CVD-grown MoS2 nanosheets and can help us exploiting their applications in the future.

    摘要: Design of a circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna on an ultrathin PET substrate of 125 μm thickness is proposed for RFID applications. Screen-printed silver coating of 25 μm thickness serves as the antenna metallization. Improved feed-design and systematic optimization of the antenna overcomes the intrinsic constrains of designing microstrip antennas on extremely thin substrate. Optimally designed feed excites a nearly square patch antenna with truncated corners to achieve good impedance and radiation characteristics. The proposed antenna exhibiting 48 MHz impedance bandwidth (896 MHz to 944 MHz) and a 16 MHz AR bandwidth (907-923 MHz), can serve as a potential candidate as a low cost UHF reader antenna for RFID applications.

  • Status of the GlueX DIRC

    摘要: This year we start assembling the DIRC detector to upgrade the particle identification capabilities in the forward region of the GlueX detector in Hall D at Jefferson Lab. The main components of the GlueX DIRC are the four bar boxes (reused from the decommissioned BaBar DIRC) and two photon cameras, which were designed based on the prototype for the SuperB FDIRC. The delicate bar boxes have already arrived at JLab from SLAC, where they have been stored for the last ten years. They will be attached to the newly built photon cameras and installed in Hall D already for the 2019 spring run. We present the status of the GlueX DIRC project including the ongoing R&D and the plan for the future.

  • Inspecting human colon adenocarcinoma cell lines by using terahertz time-domain reflection spectroscopy

    摘要: Techniques to inspect and analyze human colorectal cancer cell lines by using terahertz time-domain attenuated total reflection spectroscopy (THz TD-ATR) were investigated. The characteristics of THz absorption spectra of two colorectal cancer cell lines DLD-1 and HT-29 in aqueous solutions with different concentrations were studied. Different spectral features were observed compared to normal cell line. Identification results based on different parameters including absorption coefficient, refractive index, real and imaginary parts of complex permittivity, dielectric loss tangent were discussed. This research may be promising for quick and instant inspection of liquid samples by using THz time-domain spectroscopy in medical applications.

  • Interference Suppression of Partially Overlapped Signals Using GSVD and Orthogonal Projection

    摘要: In order to solve the problem in Automatic Identification System (AIS) that the signal in the target slot cannot be correctly received due to partial overlap of signals in adjacent time slots, the paper introduces a new criterion: maximum expected signal power (MESP) and proposes a novel beamforming algorithm based on generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD) and orthogonal projection. The algorithm employs GSVD to estimate the signal subspace, and adopts orthogonal projection to project the received signal onto the orthogonal subspace of the non-target signal. Then, beamforming technique is used to maximize the output power of the target signal on the basis of MESP. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • THz spectroscopy and first ISM detection of excited torsional states of <sup>13</sup> C-methyl formate

    摘要: Context. An astronomical survey of interstellar molecular clouds needs a previous analysis of the spectra in the microwave and sub-mm energy range of organic molecules to be able to identify them. We obtained very accurate spectroscopic constants in a comprehensive laboratory analysis of rotational spectra. These constants can be used to predict the transitions frequencies very precisely that were not measured in the laboratory. Aims. We present the experimental study and its theoretical analysis for two 13C-methyl formate isotopologues to detect these two isotopologues for the first time in their excited torsional states, which lie at 130 cm?1 (200 K) in Orion-KL. Methods. New spectra of HCOO13CH3 (13C2) methyl formate were recorded with the mm- and submm-wave spectrometer in Lille from 50 to 940 GHz. A global fit for vt = 0 and 1 was accomplished with the BELGI program to reproduce the experimental spectra with greater accuracy. Results. We analysed 5728 and 2881 new lines for vt = 0 and 1 for HCOO13CH3. These new lines were globally fitted with 846 previously published lines for vt = 0. In consequence, 52 parameters of the RAM Hamiltonian were accurately determined and the value of the barrier height (V3 = 369.93168(395) cm?1) was improved. We report the detection of the first excited torsional states (vt = 1) in Orion-KL for the 13C2 and 13C1 methyl formate based on the present analysis and previously published data. We provide column densities, isotopic abundances, and vibrational temperatures for these species. Conclusions. Following this work, accurate prediction can be provided. This permits detecting 135 features of the first excited torsional states of 13C-methyl formate isotopologues in Orion-KL in the 80?280 GHz frequency range, without missing lines.

  • Molecular Identification, Bond Order Discrimination, and Apparent Intermolecular Features in Atomic Force Microscopy Studied with a Charge Density Based Method

    摘要: We introduce an efficient method to simulate high-resolution atomic force microscopy (HR-AFM) images with CO probes. Our model explicitly takes into account the charge densities of the sample and the probe for the calculation of the short-range (SR) interaction and retains ab initio accuracy with only two parameters, that are essentially universal, independent of the number of chemical species and the complexity of the bonding topology. The application to molecular images shows a strong dependence on the stoichiometry and bonding configuration that precludes the chemical identification of individual atoms based on local force–distance curves. However, we have identified features in the 2D images and 3D force maps that reflect the highly anisotropic spatial decay of the molecular charge density and provide a way towards molecular identification. The model treats SR and electrostatics interactions on an equal footing and correctly pinpoints the Pauli repulsion as the underlying interaction responsible for the bond order discrimination in C60. Finally, we settle the controversy regarding the origin of the intermolecular features, discarding the effect of the charge redistribution associated with the H bonds, and linking them with the overlap of the wave functions of the atoms that constitute the bond. This overlap creates saddle regions in the potential energy landscape that are sensed by the probe.
