    摘要: This paper presents a secure and robust color image watermarking algorithm for copyright protection. This method uses lifting wavelet transform (LWT) to decompose both the host image and the watermark into different sub-bands and performs watermark embedding in the transform domain. A security key is introduced in the algorithm for security purpose. Two color images are used to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. Results show that the scheme not only has good imperceptibility and but also are robust to various geometric and image processing attacks.

    摘要: The proposed study aims to present an algorithm for the detection of infestation of canary beans of the species "Phaseolus Vulgaris" by generating a visible fluorescence under UV radiation, which allows the bean to be distinguished as healthy or infested. Currently, since many of the symptoms of infestation cannot be detected by the human eye, the beans sample analysis is highly subjective. The proposed method uses images of the beans taken under UV radiation within a hermetic enclosure. Then the image is acquired and an image segmentation algorithm is executed in order to identify the beans. Each bean is labeled so that the infestation can be detected by an algorithm based on histogram analysis. For the validation of the proposed method, several samples were evaluated and the results were compared with those obtained by two experts through an exhaustive visual analysis. The results were expressed through specificity and sensitivity, obtaining 99.78% for specificity and 90.70% for sensitivity.

    摘要: Thickness of the esophagus is an important diagnostic marker for many esophagus diseases. While labeling boundaries by manual to compute each layer’s average thickness is time-consuming and subjective. In this paper, we present a new fully automatic algorithm which includes Fast Marching Method (FMM) and Fourth-Order Runge-Kutta method (RK4) to identify five esophagus layers on optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. FMM is used to calculate the weighted geodesic distance. In particular, the velocity function involved in this method combines vertical gradient, horizontal gradient and curvature so that it not only can divide flat borders but also irregular borders. RK4 is used to find the shortest path which is the boundary to be segmented. The experimental comparison between automatic and manual is performed on 400 healthy guinea pig esophagus OCT images and the mean absolute error thickness difference between them is less than 6 pixels while the value can reach to 9.41 pixels at most between two observers.

    摘要: The TULIPP project aims to facilitate the development of embedded image processing systems with real-time and low-power constraints. In this paper, several adaptive dynamic runtime techniques for reconfigurable SoCs are described. These methods are used for low power image processing applications on high-performance embedded platforms. Dynamic voltage scaling and dynamic partial reconfiguration target the low-power requirements of the embedded systems while debugging supports the fast development on the hardware side of the system. The proposed techniques were tested and verified using an own developed custom SDSoC image processing library.

    摘要: In this paper, we propose and implement a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) system which extracts a vibration component of a desired frequency band from moving images in real-time, aiming at application to image-based vibration suppression such as microsurgery assistance systems. The technical challenges to this end are two-fold: fast and robust detection of vibration components in given moving images and zero-phase band-pass filtering for a desired frequency band. For the former, we employ a statistical approach using dense optical flow to derive frequency components, and design a custom optical flow computing hardware with the Lucas-Kanade (LK) method. For the latter, we implement a sort of adaptive band-pass filters called a bandlimited multiple Fourier linear combiner (BMFLC), which can recompose input signals as a mixture of sinusoidal signals with multiple frequencies in a band with no phase delay. Both designs are implemented in a deeply pipelined manner on a Xilinx Kintex-7 XC325T FPGA, without using any external memories. Empirical experiments reveal that the proposed system extracts a vibration component of high-frequency tremors in hand motions, while intentional low-frequency motions are successfully filtered out. The system processes VGA moving images at 60 fps, with a delay of less than 1 us for the BMFLC, suggesting effectiveness of the deep pipelined architecture.

    摘要: This paper investigates different algorithms to perform image restoration from single-photon measurements corrupted with Poisson noise. The restoration problem is formulated in a Bayesian framework and several state-of-the-art Monte Carlo samplers are considered to estimate the unknown image and quantify its uncertainty. The different samplers are compared through a series of experiments conducted with synthetic images. The results demonstrate the scaling properties of the proposed samplers as the dimensionality of the problem increases and the number of photons decreases. Moreover, our experiments show that for a certain photon budget (i.e., acquisition time of the imaging device), downsampling the observations can yield better reconstruction results.

This paper presents a framework composed by an unmanned aerial vehicle carrying a visible stereo vision system developed in order to estimate the position, rate of spread, height, inclination angle, base width and surface of ?res obtained by experimental burnings at ?eld scale. This research is developed with the ultimate goal to carry out a technological transfer in order to obtain systems that can be used by ?re?ghters.

  • Controllable Motion-Blur Effects in Still Images

    摘要: Motion blur in a photo is the consequence of object motion during the image acquisition. It results in a visible trail along the motion of a recorded object and can be used by photographers to convey a sense of motion. Nevertheless, it is very challenging to acquire this effect as intended and requires much experience from the photographer. To achieve actual control over the motion blur, one could be added in a post process but current solutions require complex manual intervention and can lead to artifacts that mix moving and static objects incorrectly. In this paper, we propose a novel method to add motion blur to a single image that generates the illusion of a photographed motion. Relying on a minimal user input, a filtering process is employed to produce a virtual motion effect. It carefully handles object boundaries to avoid artifacts produced by standard filtering methods. We illustrate the effectiveness of our solution with various complex examples, including multi-directional blur, reflections, multiple objects, and illustrate how several motion-related artistic effects can be achieved. Our post-processing solution is an alternative to capturing the intended real-world motion blur directly and enables fine-grained control of the motion-blur effect.

  • Study on Single Camera Based ANPR System for Improvement of Vehicle Number Plate Recognition on Multi-lane Roads

    摘要: In this paper, we introduce the single camera-based number recognition system used for this system recognizes vehicle number plates on one lane by using a single camera. Intelligent transport system (ITS) has been constructed because there is a limit in solving traffic problems in a physical manner such as construction of roads and subways. The single camera-based number recognition system used for this system recognizes vehicle number plates on one lane by using a single camera. Due to the increased cost of the installation and maintenance thereof, there is a growing need for a multi-lane-based number recognition system. When the single camera-based number recognition system is used for multi-lane recognition, the recognition rate is lowered due to a difference in vehicle image size among lanes and a low-resolution problem. Therefore, in this study, we applied a character extraction algorithm using connected vertical and horizontal edge segments-based labeling to improve multi-lane vehicle number recognition rate and thereby to allow application of the single camera-based system to multi-lane roads.

  • A High-Level Synthesis Implementation and Evaluation of an Image Processing Accelerator

    摘要: Most frequently, an FPGA is used as an implementation platform in applications of graphics processing, as its structure can effectively exploit both spatial and temporal parallelism. Such parallelization techniques involve fundamental restrictions, namely being their dependence on both the processing model and the system’s hardware constraints, that can force the designer to restructure the architecture and the implementation. Predesigned accelerators can significantly assist the designer to solve this problem and meet his deadlines. In this paper, we present our accelerators for Grayscale and Sobel Edge Detection, two of the most fundamental algorithms used in digital image processing projects. We have implemented those algorithms with a “bare-metal” VHDL design, written purely by hand, as a portable USB accelerator device, as well as an HLS-based overlay of a similar implementation designed to be used by a Python interface. The comparisons of the two architectures showcase that the HLS generated design can perform equally to or even better than the handwritten HDL equivalent, especially when the correct compiler directives are provided.
