    摘要: Solar distributed generation (DG) integrated into the distribution system has contributed significant effects such as reduced power losses and improved voltage profile. The reliability and power quality of the technology may be affected at high penetration that may result to high voltage fluctuations and reverse power flow. Thus, the maximum allowable penetration level of solar DG must be determined. By using genetic algorithm as an approach, this study determines the penetration limit of solar DG in the network considering multiple bus integration. Simulations were implemented in IEEE 37-bus test system utilizing the Component Object Model (COM) interface of MATLAB and OpenDSS. Results showed that considering the penetration limit of solar DG resulted to significant improvements in power losses and voltage profile. Moreover, the maximum allowable limit of the DG installed to 18 different buses showed the highest reduction of power losses and the lowest average total voltage deviation.

  • Investigation on Solar PV generation and design of switched reluctance motor for Smart Agriculture actuation system

    摘要: This paper presents standalone solar photovoltaic (PV) powered fed actuation system employing a switched reluctance motor (SRM) particularly used in remote and rural areas. The converter efficiency is achieved by changing ON and OFF state of solar PV drive. An electronic commutation drives SRM drive with achieved by position hall sensor and encoder. The modified boost converter is proposed in single stage to conversion of PV fed power and inverter with reduced switching losses. Further proposed system is designed to reduce cost of system using simple design and control. This paper also proposes the speed control strategy of SRM motor with an artificial intelligent based Adaptive neuro fuzzy inference (ANFIS) system to achieve desired motor velocity as stated in reference velocity in farm lands. The system proposed is subjected to analysis the performance of drive and controller in both load and no-load conditions. Initially, a simulation model is modeled in MATLAB-SIMULINK with corresponding environments. The experimental setup for proposed system is developed using FPGA based SPEEDGOAT real time target machine. The simulation and hardware results suggest feasibility of proposed system in real time.

    摘要: The main objective of this paper is to introduce the concept of Learning Automata (LA) algorithm and its adaptability for the development of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller for solar PV system. MPPT algorithm using LA is proposed and the development of LA as MPPT is explained in detail. The proposed MPPT receives the temperature and irradiation as input and the MPPT output is the duty cycle. The LA MPPT is initially trained for various ranges of temperature and irradiation levels in offline. The trained controller is implemented online and tested for various conditions through simulation using MALTAB. The performance proposed LA MPPT is analyzed by comparing the results with P&O MPPT.

  • Digital Image Interpolation in MATLAB? || Covariance-Based Interpolation

    摘要: The previous chapter has shown the importance of maintaining the image edges in image interpolation to obtain a natural-looking interpolated image. We have discussed the basic structure and model of image edges. The multi-resolution analysis presented in the chapter on wavelet (Chapter 6) has shown that an ideal step edge obeys the geometric regularity property [43], which refers to the correlation structure of an ideal step edge being independent of the scale of the image. In other words, the correlation structure of the local region that has enclosed an edge feature in the low-resolution image should have a similar correlation structure in the corresponding region in the high-resolution image. The edge-directed interpolated algorithms presented in the last chapter aim to preserve the correlation structures across scales by estimating the unknown pixels with the consideration of the locations and orientations of the image edges. The locations and the orientations of the image edges are specified by explicit edge map obtained through some kind of edge detection techniques. There are several problems associated with such approach. Firstly, the edge detection technique quantized the edge orientation in finite number of cases. As a result, the interpolation results can only preserve limited classes of correlation structures during the interpolation process. In other words, the geometric regularity cannot be fully preserved between the low-resolution image and the interpolated high-resolution image. Secondly, the edge detection algorithm has detection accuracy problems in both the spatial location of the edge pixel and the orientation of the associated edge. As a result, the edge-directed interpolation algorithm might falsely preserve a nonexisting edge structure and results in image artifacts with unnatural appearance and low in peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). To achieve good image interpolation result, the geometric regularity property should be fully exploited. Various algorithms have been proposed in literature that aim to preserve the geometric regularity between the low-resolution image and the interpolated high-resolution image, which include directly considering the geometric regularity in spatial domain [12, 38], reformulating the problem into a set of partial differential equations [6, 47], and constructing a convex set of geometric regularity [54], and proposed a projection-onto-convex-set algorithm to achieve an interpolated image with the best matched correlation structure between the low-resolution image and the interpolated high-resolution image.

  • Image and data processing algorithms for identifying cell-bound membrane vesicle trajectories and movement information

    摘要: This DIB article provides details about the trajectory identification and data processing algorithms used in the article "Dynamic single-vesicle tracking of cell-bound membrane vesicles on resting, activated, and cytoskeleton-disrupted cells" (Zhang et al.) [1]. The algorithm identifies vesicles on cell membranes from series of undyed grayscale images captured by the confocal microscope based on contrast differences and then trajectories of vesicles are obtained by analyzing their positions in consecutive images. Once the trajectories have been obtained, other quantitative movement information, such as moving speed, direction and acceleration, are derived by standard dynamic relations.

  • Maximum Power Point tracking for a stand-alone photovoltaic system using Artificial Neural Network

    摘要: This paper presents an intelligent method to extract the maximum power from the photovoltaic panel using artificial neural network (ANN). The inputs data required for training the ANN controller are obtained from real weather conditions and the desired output is obtained from perturb and observe (P&O) method. The proposed model is capable to improve the dynamic response and steady-state performance of the system, provides an accurate identification of the optimal operating point and an accurate estimation of the maximum power from the photovoltaic panels. The proposed ANN model is compared with conventional P&O model and shown that ANN controller could increase the power output by approximately 20%. The system is simulated and studied using MATLAB software.

  • Comparative Analysis of Intelligent Controller Based MPPT for Photovoltaic System with Super Lift Boost Converter

    摘要: In recent years, the electrical energy demand increases gradually and the power generation does not meet the demand due to lack of fossil fuel and environmental issues. The only solution is to use renewable energy sources for generating electricity and meet the consumers demand. In this paper, photovoltaic power system analyses their performance under various weather conditions. The objective of this paper is comparing the different intelligent controllers such as Fuzzy, ANFIS and Hybrid Fuzzy & Firefly Algorithm (HFFA) for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of 100 Watts PV system using a Super Lift Boost Converter (SLBC). The proposed intelligent controller is designed and simulated in MATLAB environment under various weather conditions. The simulation results have been analyzed and the performance of the proposed model evaluated with changing irradiation conditions. Finally, the performance of Hybrid Fuzzy and firefly based MPPT has been suggested as the optimum controller for the photovoltaic system.

  • Rapid detection of building cracks based on image processing technology with double square artificial marks

    摘要: In order to measure the crack width of dangerous buildings quickly and accurately, this article presents a new crack width measurement method, which is based on image processing technology, using double square artificial markers to identify building cracks and calculate crack width. It makes two 10 mm 3 10 mm black square artificial marks and places them near the sides of the crack. Then it uses a camera to collect crack images and transfer photos to a computer. The crack image is subjected to image graying, binarization, denoising, image segmentation, and pixel calibration based on the image processing technique. Finally, the actual length value of the unit pixel is calculated. Then it can calculate the actual width of the crack according to the number of pixels included in the test crack. The calculation results show that the accuracy of the proposed method is 98.56% compared with the measured data. The calculation method can accurately and effectively detect the crack width of dangerous buildings and improve work efficiency. At the same time, it can avoid long hours of work in dangerous operating environments.

  • Alteration of lens and retina textures from mice embryos with folic acid deficiency: image processing analysis

    摘要: Purpose Folic acid (FA) is an essential vitamin for embryonic development. It plays particularly a critical role in RNA, DNA and protein synthesis. On the other hand, the collagen IV and laminin-1 are important proteins during embryonic development. This study was done to find if FA deficiency at a short and a long term in mothers could alter the tissue texture of retina and lens of the progeny. Methods Collagen IVand laminin-1 were localized by immunohistochemistry in the lens and retina of the FA-deficient embryos. To carry out the image processing, texture segmentation was performed through canny edge detection and Fourier transform (FT). We defined a parameter, the grain size, to describe the texture of the lens and retina. A bootstrap method to estimate the distribution and confidence intervals of the mean, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis of the grain size has been developed. Results Analysis through image processing using Matlab showed changes in the grain size between control- and FA-deficient groups in both studied molecules. Measures of texture based on FT exhibited changes in the directionality and arrangements of type IV collagen and laminin-1. Conclusions Changes introduced by FA deficiency were visible in the short term (2 weeks) and evident in the long term (8 weeks) in both grain size and orientation of fibre structures in the tissues analysed (lens and retina). This is the first work devoted to study the effect of FA deficit in the texture of eye tissues using image processing techniques.
