  • Optical vibration modes in multi-layer quantum dots of polar ternary mixed crystals

    摘要: Within the framework of the dielectric continuum approach and the modified random-element isodisplacement model, the optical vibration modes as well as the corresponding electron-phonon interactions in spherical multi-layer quantum dots (QDs) consisting of ternary mixed crystals (TMCs) are investigated in detail. The dispersion relation and electron-phonon interaction Hamiltonian are obtained. As applications of the present theory, the numerical calculations for the ZnS/ZnxCd1-xS/ZnS and GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs/GaAs QDs are performed and discussed. Considering the "one-mode" and "two-mode" behaviors of the TMCs, the results show that there are 5 and 7 branches of interface/surface optical (IO/SO) phonon modes in the two systems, respectively. It is found that the effects of TMCs have a remarkable influence on the optical phonon frequencies and the electron-phonon interactions. The results also reveal that the presence of the cap layer introduces significant influence on the TMCs effects of optical phonon in multi-layer QDs. We hope that our theoretical results can stimulate further investigations of related photoelectric properties, as well as device applications in multi-layer QDs consisting of TMCs.

    摘要: We developed an ultrasonic inspection technique using a pulse compression method for detecting bonding defects with interfaces of stacked wafers. This technique can detect the minute echoes reflected from the bonding interfaces by computing the correlation function between transmitted and received signals. We designed a measurement condition for pulse compression with a transmitted signal and took an ultrasonic measurement of a 3-layer stacked sample. We compared the defect detection sensitivity of the pulse compression method with the ultrasonic inspection using pulse waves. The experimental results showed that the noise of an ultrasonic image was reduced and minute defects could be detected by applying developed method.

  • The Development of Accelerated Life Test Method of Multi-Layer Nano Thin Film Glass for Electric Automobiles

    摘要: According to expansion of electric automobiles, the multi-layer nano thin film glass with heating source is researched to retain safety driving for winter. Generally, the tungsten wire is used as a heating source of electric automobile glass. Due to its low visibility, silver (Ag) particles are researched for years. Ag is widely used as a material of heater in the automobile industry since it has relatively high heat and electrical conductivities. However, the multi-layer nano thin film glass using Ag particles is under development stage and is not verified in the field, so recall and claim can be raised. In this study, we will find the potential failure mechanism of the multi-layer nano thin film glass based on the properties, and then suggest accelerated life test method to verify 15 years in the automobile application.

However, very few feasible practical structures exist at present. Here, we propose a CMOS-compatible hybrid plasmonic slot waveguide (HPSW) with enhanced field confinement. Our simulation results show that the HPSW exhibits significantly enhanced field confinement as compared with the traditional low-index slot waveguides and the hybrid metal dielectric slot waveguides. By controlling the thicknesses of different layers, an optimized HPSW structure with a better tradeoff between field confinement and propagation length has been simultaneously achieved.

    摘要: The proposed work benefits visually impaired individuals in identifying objects and visualizing scenarios around them independent of any external support. In such a situation, the surrounding and ask an open-ended question, classification question, counting question or yes/no question to the application by speech input. The proposed application uses Visual Question Answering (VQA) to integrate image processing and natural language processing which is also capable of speech to text translation and vice versa that helps to identify, recognize and thus obtain details of any particular image. The work uses a classical CNN-LSTM model where image features and language features are computed separately and combined at a later stage using image features and word embedding obtained from the question and runs a multilayer perceptron on the combined features to obtain the results. The model achieves an accuracy of 57 per cent. The model can also be utilized to develop cognitive interpretation better in kids. As the application is speech enabled it is best suited for the visually impaired with an easy to use GUI.

  • Sensor Fusion for Distance Estimation Under Disturbance with Reflective Optical Sensors using Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP)

    摘要: There are many methods to perform distance measurement, among them the reflexive optical sensors, which are low cost but present some issues such as nonlinear response, limited operating ranges and the measurement shows sensitivity to infrared or visible radiation. For this reason, this work presents a sensory fusion model combining three reflective optical distance sensors of different ranges, a color sensor (VIS), an ultraviolet radiation sensor (UV) and an Near infrared sensor (NIR) to estimate the distance using a Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP). The purpose of combining different distance sensors is to have a higher overall range and achieve redundancy in some regions, and the objective of the UV-VIS-NIR sensors is to compensate for the radiation at which the distance sensors are exposed to adjust the measurement. With the attained information, the influence of each type of radiation on the distance measurement was evaluated. It is important to estimate the distance in these ranges because in robotics and automation industries, different associated applications are handled. The MLP was trained switching its architecture between four and sixteen neurons per layer, and between three and five hidden layers. Finally the training and selection of several MLP architectures for sensory fusion with an error lower than 1% was presented.

    摘要: Photovoltaic power ?uctuation in daytime is one of critical problems for the ef?cient and stable operation of the smart grid. To respond the PV power ?uctuation resulting from weather change, the short-term PV power forecasting algorithm using multi-layer RNN is proposed in this paper. It consists of multiple RNN layers using power and meteorological data which are collected by on-site IoT (Internet of Things) sensors. Experimental results showed that the accuracies of the short-term PV power prediction of 5 minutes and 1 hour later using 3 RNN layers with 12 time-step were 98.02% and 96.58% based on the normalized RMSE, respectively. These experimental results con?rmed that the proposed short-term prediction algorithm using multi-layer RNN model was applicable to respond the short-term PV power ?uctuation.

  • The damage mechanism and process of metal multi-layer dielectric gratings induced by ps-pulsed laser

    摘要: In the present paper, we have prepared a multi-layer grating on a layer of gold ?lm. The gratings laser damage threshold and damage morphologies have been tested using an 800 nm wavelength, 450 ps laser pulse. The gratings laser damage threshold is 0.95 J/cm2. Based on the tested damage characteristics and the calculated temperature ?eld and stress ?eld in gratings, the gratings damage mechanism has been analyzed. In theoretical calculation, the ionization process of dielectric layers in gratings and the distribution as well as evolution of the dielectric absorption coe?cient have been considered. It can be concluded that the gratings damage process is thermal ablation action dominated.

  • Self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide structure

    摘要: In this Letter, a novel self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide (GSCPW) structure is proposed by using the common multi-layer PCB techniques, which eliminates the drawbacks of bulky circuit size, heavy weight and difficult to be integrated as that of the traditional suspended circuits with mechanical mounting. Both self-packaging and end connection are used to reduce the wave leakage, and the multiple via holes are saved, which greatly reduce the simulation time and the fabrication complexity. The proposed GSCPW structure has been fabricated, and has been demonstrated by experimental results with a measured insertion loss of no more than 0.45 dB, and a measured return loss of better than 20 dB from dc to 4 GHz.
