  • Optimal Energy Management in a Standalone Microgrid, with Photovoltaic Generation, Short-Term Storage, and Hydrogen Production

    摘要: This paper addresses the energy management of a standalone renewable energy system. The system is configured as a microgrid, including photovoltaic generation, a lead-acid battery as a short term energy storage system, hydrogen production, and several loads. In this microgrid, an energy management strategy has been incorporated that pursues several objectives. On the one hand, it aims to minimize the amount of energy cycled in the battery, in order to reduce the associated losses and battery size. On the other hand, it seeks to take advantage of the long-term surplus energy, producing hydrogen and extracting it from the system, to be used in a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle. A crucial factor in this approach is to accommodate the energy consumption to the energy demand and to achieve this, a model predictive control (MPC) scheme is proposed. In this context, proper models for solar estimation, hydrogen production, and battery energy storage will be presented. Moreover, the controller is capable of advancing or delaying the deferrable loads from its prescheduled time. As a result, a stable and efficient supply with a relatively small battery is obtained. Finally, the proposed control scheme has been validated on a real case scenario.

  • Equitable Distribution of Wind and Photovoltaic Power Curtailment

    摘要: Curtailment algorithm for renewable energy sources interconnected to a power grid has been developed so that the oversupply in the power grid could be prevented. The algorithm consists of the optimization problem the objective function of which is the equitable distribution of minimized curtailment. The energy loss due to the curtailment is applied to evaluating the equitable distribution of curtailment in the optimization problem. The proposed algorithm has been simulated by using the predicted value of load demand, thermal, wind, and photovoltaics generating units from June 2014 to March 2015. It was found that the oversupply is solved by the proposed algorithm and the energy loss for the renewable energy sources are distributed equitably.

  • A Multi-Agent Social Gamification Model to Guide Sustainable Urban Photovoltaic Panels Installation Policies

    摘要: The paper presents a holistic and quantitative model of social gami?cation in a smart city, which is likely to stimulate the photovoltaic panels installation. The coupling of multi-agent systems, GIS tools, demographic data, and a spatial knowledge base made it possible to develop and calibrate a computable model of social interaction in a “model smart city,” as well as to quantitatively evaluate the deployment of photovoltaic panels. It also enabled the analysis of factors a?ecting the e?ciency of this process, e.g., the photovoltaic potential of solar roofs, the ownership of buildings, the type of building development, the level of social trust, institutional and social incentives, and the development of an information society. The devised model is tested on the city of Warsaw, utilizing spatial and descriptive data provided by city authorities.

    摘要: The partial shading on parallel-connected photovoltaic (PV) modules introduces severe mismatch issues in PV systems, which significantly affects the overall output power. Distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) is considered as an effective solution to the resultant mismatch in parallel-connected PV sub-modules. In this context, this paper proposes a sub-module level switched-inductor (SL) based differential power processing (DPP) technique for parallel connections to alleviate the mismatch effect. The technique can achieve the maximum output power under mismatch by equalizing the sub-module voltages. The proposed technique is analyzed and compared through simulations with a traditional (Schottky diode) bypassing technique.

  • Fault Tolerant Control System for Photovoltaic Panels Application

    摘要: The paper presents a solution to control the power delivery system in a microgrid in which the primary energy source is using photovoltaic panels. The proposed mathematical models describe the operation of the main system blocks and are used as reference models in the fault detection mechanism. Using a complex control strategy, the generated power is controlled and the effects of the disturbances which occur in the system, including the faults, are rejected, making the proposed solution a robust and a fault tolerant one. The integrated control solution contains algorithms for the appropriate control of both the boost DC/DC converter and of the single phase inverter blocks. The proposed approaches are directed toward developing algorithms suitable for real-time implementation on 32 bit ARM processors.

    摘要: This paper proposes a new single-phase inverter topology with common-ground for photovoltaic (PV) applications. The proposed inverter has the major features as the same ground between dc input and ac output voltage, voltage buck/boost capability and shoot-through immunity. The theoretical analysis and PWM method for the introduced inverter are discussed. A prototype based on a DSP TMS320F280049C was set up to confirm the performance of the introduced inverter. Simulation and experimental results are shown to validate the theoretical analysis and effectiveness of introduced inverter. The experimental results matched the theoretical analysis and simulation results.

  • Hybrid PV and wind grid-connected renewable energy system to reduce the gas emission and operation cost

    摘要: This paper presents the methodology and results of the simulation and optimization of a hybrid renewable energy system for supply to a workstation reducing the gas emissions and the operation costs, so that to determinate the optimal system. The fundamentals equations used to estimate the operational costs are presented. The software used to simulate and optimize the purposed system is HOMER Pro?, this software can simulate energy systems with renewable fractions and optimize those systems to obtain the best system to use. In addition, the hybrid PV/Wind system replace 23.01 % of the grid purchases when they are working in parallel, the hybrid PV/Wind system take a reduction of the 12.46 % annual operation cost over the 100% of grid purchased and 9.3 % of the total operation cost over the 100% of the grid purchased. Finally, it can be concluded that the use of renewable energy systems takes greatest reductions on the supply systems if it takes the optimal design to develop the supply system.
