  • LLMLF based Control Approach and LPO MPPT Technique for Improving Performance of a Multifunctional Three-Phase Two-Stage Grid Integrated PV System

    摘要: This study presents a novel Leaky Least Mean Logarithmic Fourth (LLMLF) based control technique and Learning based Perturb and Observe (LPO) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm, for optimal control of grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Here, a novel LLMLF algorithm is developed for active component extraction from load current, and a novel LPO MPPT algorithm is developed for optimal MPPT operation. Proposed LPO is the improved form of Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm, where inherent problems of traditional P&O algorithm like steady-state oscillation, slow dynamic responses and fixed step size issues, are successfully mitigated. The prime objective of proposed LLMLF control is to, fulfill the active power requirement of the loads from generated solar PV power, and excess power is fed to the grid. However, when generated PV power is less than the required load power, then LLMLF fulfills the load by taking extra required power from the grid. During this process, power quality is improved at the grid. The controller action provides reactive power compensation, power factor correction, harmonics filtering and mitigation of other power quality issues. Moreover, when the solar irradiation is zero, than the DC link capacitor and VSC act as DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator), which enhances the utilization factor of the system. The proposed techniques are modeled and their performances are verified experimentally on a developed prototype, in solar insolation variation condition, imbalance loading condition for linear/nonlinear loads, as well as in different grid disturbances such as over-voltage, under-voltage, phase imbalance, harmonics distortion in the grid voltage etc, where it has shown a very good performance.

MATLAB/Simulink is used to model and analyze PV array, MPPT algorithms, and converters. In this paper, recent research developments in PV array, various MPPT techniques, many ef?cient Converters are presented. This paper will give an overall idea about the present research trends in the ?eld of Solar Photovoltaic systems.

  • Fast and Robust Maximum Power Point Tracking for Solar Photovoltaic Systems

    摘要: Solar Photovoltaic (PV) energy is becoming an increasingly important part of the world's renewable energy. In order to develop technology for efficient energy conversion from a solar PV system, this paper studies typical Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control techniques used in solar PV industry and then proposes a close-loop and adaptive MPPT method for reliable and rapid extraction of solar PV power. The paper emphasizes especially on how the proposed and conventional adaptive MPPT methods perform under highly variable weather and solar irradiation conditions in a digital control environment. A computer simulation system is developed by using SimPowerSystems and Opal-RT real-time simulation technology which allows for fast and efficient investigations of the MPPT algorithms under high switching frequency conditions for power converters. A hardware experiment system is built to validate and compare the proposed and conventional MPPT techniques in a more practical condition. Advantages, disadvantages and properties of different MPPT methods are compared and studied, evaluated.

  • Centroid Analogy-Based MPPT Technique for Uniformly Shaded Solar Photovoltaic Array

    摘要: The perturb and observe and an incremental conductance methods are most widely used for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for solar photovoltaic system. However, it suffers from loss of tracking due to dynamic weather conditions and steady-state oscillations near the maximum power point (MPP). This paper proposes a novel centroid analogy-based MPPT, where centroid analogy (CA) is hybridized with the hill climbing (HC) algorithm (CAHC). The CAHC algorithm reduces the response time, oscillations and the effects of changing insolation. The proposed technique is based on the conventional algorithm, but it has a different approach towards the goal of reaching the MPP. It is based on using CA as a method to reach the new point on the P–V curve. This CA technique reduces the number of steps taken to reach MPP considerably. The proposed method is tested on MATLAB simulation platform, as well as validated on the hardware prototype. The obtained results are compared with state-of-the-art techniques, which show the superiority and meet the objectives to develop the CAHC MPPT algorithm.

    摘要: This paper is a review on 4 phase 8/6 switched reluctance motor (S RM) powered by solar PV array using the buck-boost dc-dc con verter. The water pumping system is operating S RM. The main objective of this paper is to regulate the speed of S RM dri ve to pump the water through the DC link voltage of a mid-point converter. The split capacitor con verter for S RM dri ve called as mid-point converter is electronically commutated is inexpensive, reliable and efficient than conventional DC and AC electrical machines used in this application, because of its simple construction. The losses in mid-point converter can be reduced by using S RM drive at its fundamental frequency and also the efficiency of the proposed system can be increased. The DC-DC buck-boost con verter is working in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The CCM operation decreases the losses of DC-DC converter. The soft starting of 4 phase 8/6 S RM drive is also achieved through proper selection of step-size in incremental conductance (InC) algorithm method of maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The DC-DC buck-boost con verter is the unique converter which allows excellent tracking of PV array maximum MPP rather than of temperature and insolation levels.

    摘要: This paper presents the implementation of a double stage solar photovoltaic (PV) single phase grid connected system using correntropy based control algorithm. This algorithm helps to obtain sinusoidal grid currents even in the presence of nonlinear loads connected at PCC (Point Of Common Coupling), thus improving the power quality of the system. It has almost no steady state error as well as strong filtering ability. The proposed system is configured using a solar PV array, a single phase grid, a voltage source converter (VSC), a DC link capacitor, a boost converter, a ripple filter, an interfacing inductor and the nonlinear loads. The boost converter extracts maximum power from the solar PV array using the drift free MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) method. A prototype is developed to affirm the system performance by testing it under various conditions. The grid conditions of the system obtained after the application of this control strategy conforms well to the harmonic standard IEEE 519.

    摘要: The factors that influence the output power of Solar Photo-Voltaic (SPV) Array are temperature of the Photo Voltaic cell, solar insolation and shading pattern. Partial shading is the main disadvantage that occurs while reducing the output power of the SPV Energy. To counter this disadvantage, a new reconfiguration technique Tom-Tom configuration is used to reconfigure the Solar Photo-Voltaic (SPV) Array to enhance the output power under partial shaded conditions. The theoretical and MATLAB/Simulink results give the ‘PV’ characteristics for the conventional and proposed techniques. From the results, it can be inferred that more output power is provided by Tom-Tom configuration than the conventional Total Cross Tied (TCT) pattern and the multiple peaks are minimized. Shade dispersion concept is presented by Tom-Tom, using which the concentrated shaded is diluted. The various shading patterns those are available in the literature are used to verify the performance of the proposed system. Results reaffirm that the output power is increased if the shaded panels are relocated.
