摘要: This paper investigates the effect of light emitting diodes (LEDs) positioning and allocation in the channel analysis performance for an indoor intra-vehicle visible light communication (VLC) system. The MATLAB simulation results focus on the received power and the signal to noise ratio (SNR) within a sports utility vehicle. Furthermore, this work aims to validate by investigating two different scenarios, one utilizing two sources of power and the other using three sources of power with various locations, how LED's spatial positioning affects the VLC system and the probability of error. Proving the demand for considering LEDs layout positioning while designing a VLC system.

Physical Layer Security For Dual-Hop VLC/RF Communication Systems
摘要: In this letter, we investigate the physical layer security of a mixed visible light communication (VLC)/radio frequency (RF) system. More specifically, the relay can extract the direct current (DC) component and collect energy from the optical signal in the VLC link, and then use this collected energy to retransmit data though the RF link. With this setup, the exact performance expressions for secure outage probability and average secrecy capacity are derived in closed-form. We also provide asymptotic results to investigate the effect of different system parameters on the system performance. Finally, we present numerical results to illustrate our analytical result.

Performance analysis of colour coded multiple access orthogonal frequency division multiplexing visible light communication system
摘要: Performance analysis of colour coded multiple access (CCMA) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) visible light communication (VLC) System is discussed in this paper. First, characteristics of optical OFDM are studied. Second, CCMA is achieved using three laser diodes (LD): red, green and blue LDs. Finally, OFDM-modulated signals are optically modulated with red, green and blue LDs (RGB LDs). Then these three optical signals are combined together to form white light which illuminates as well as provides high-speed data transmission. The performance of the proposed CCMA OFDM VLC system is studied using constellation diagrams, signals and spectrum comparisons. The system is simulated for the data rate of 10 Gbps.

摘要: In this paper we propose a novel region of interest (ROI) detection based digital signal processing scheme for optical camera communications (OCC): it provides significant improvement in recovering the source shape induced signal deformations in a rolling shutter optical camera communication (RS-OCC) system over a link of 100 cm. We propose also a novel approach to address the packet losses due to the RS-OCC bursty channel, which relies on repeated packet transmission. We show simulation results for two different packet repetition schemes and compared them with the link with no repetition in RS-OCC.

Quasi blind carrier phase estimation scheme for special-shaped circular (7,1) modulation in high-speed visible light communication
摘要: A novel digital signal processing (DSP) scheme for special-shaped circular (7,1) modulated signals based on quasi blind carrier phase estimation (QBCPE) is proposed. The results show that applying 0.33‰ overhead QBCPE provides similar performance as 3% training sequence data-aided equalization of least mean square (LMS) algorithm.

Visible light communication with efficient far-red/near-infrared polymer light-emitting diodes
摘要: Visible light communication (VLC) is a wireless technology that relies on optical intensity modulation and is potentially a game changer for internet-of-things (IoT) connectivity. However, VLC is hindered by the low penetration depth of visible light in non-transparent media. One solution is to extend operation into the “nearly (in)visible” near-infrared (NIR, 700–1000 nm) region, thus also enabling VLC in photonic bio-applications, considering the biological tissue NIR semitransparency, while conveniently retaining vestigial red emission to help check the link operativity by simple eye inspection. Here, we report new far-red/NIR organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with a 650–800 nm emission range and external quantum efficiencies among the highest reported in this spectral range (>2.7%, with maximum radiance and luminance of 3.5 mW/cm2 and 260 cd/m2, respectively). With these OLEDs, we then demonstrate a “real-time” VLC setup achieving a data rate of 2.2 Mb/s, which satisfies the requirements for IoT and biosensing applications. These are the highest rates ever reported for an online unequalised VLC link based on solution-processed OLEDs.

Improving modulation bandwidth and optical power of GaNa??based blue LED by hollowa??runway active area
摘要: We demonstrate a higher-bandwidth and optical power GaN-based blue light-emitting diode for visible-light communication applications. By using a hollow-runway active area and hollow-runway current-confined aperture structure, we obtain an electrical-to-optical (E-O) 3 dB bandwidth (f?3 dB) significantly higher than that of a rectangle-structure LED with the same epitaxial structure and area of active area. Meanwhile, its optical power can reach 48.65 mW, even higher than a rectangle-structure LED (45.33 mW). Eight hollow-runway LEDs connected in series are called hollow-runway-chip-array LEDs (HRCA-LEDs) and eight rectangle-structure LEDs connected in series are called rectangle-chip-array LEDs (RCA-LEDs), and they are fabricated into a new device on the same substrate. The f?3 dB and the optical power of the device are ~98.5 MHz and ~712.3 mW, respectively, at 50 mA. HRCA-LEDs are used as communication module that can provide data transmission and lighting and RCA-LEDs as a lighting module for enhancing the overall lighting capability of the device. Its luminous flux is 203.57 lm and efficacy is 87.00 lm/W at 50 mA.

Solutiona??Processed Higha??Quality Cesium Lead Bromine Perovskite Photodetectors with High Detectivity for Application in Visible Light Communication
摘要: Cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr3) perovskite photodetectors (PDs) are attractive for applications in visible light communication (VLC) due to ultra-high detectivity and fast response speed. However, the fabrication of high-quality CsPbBr3 polycrystalline films using solution-based process is very challenging. Due to the low solubility of CsBr in precursor solutions, solution-processed CsPbBr3 films are typically discontinuous and porous, hindering the performance of resulting PDs. Herein, a facile and modified sequential spin-coating method is introduced to prepare high-crystallinity, pinhole-free CsPb2Br5-CsPbBr3 perovskite films with an average grain size of ≈1 μm. The hole-transport-layer-free (HTL-free) PDs based on the CsPb2Br5-CsPbBr3 perovskite films show high performance parameters, including the responsivity of 0.11 A W?1, the detectivity of 1.4 × 1012 Jones, a linear dynamic range of 128.6, and an on/off ratio of 1.5 × 106. The PDs outperform other HTL-free perovskite PDs and are comparable to the p–i–n perovskite PDs reported in the literature. In addition, the high-performance CsPb2Br5-CsPbBr3 PDs are applied in VLC by using the PD as a self-powered signal receiver of voice commands in a simulated room. This work uniquely combines the features of high-performance self-powered perovskite PDs with VLC techniques, paving the path to wide applications of all-inorganic perovskite PDs.

Demonstration of a Hybrid FSO/VLC Link for the Last Mile and Last Meter Networks
摘要: In this paper, a hybrid free-space optical and visible light communication (FSO/VLC) system was experimentally demonstrated as a solution to overcome the last mile and last meter access networks bandwidth bottleneck. We evaluate the system performance of a multiband carrier-less amplitude and phase (m-CAP) modulation scheme for a range of FSO/VLC link lengths and m-CAP parameters (i.e., the roll-off factor of the ?lters and a number of subcarriers) in terms of the data rate Rb (i.e., spectral ef?ciency). We show that for the con?guration with a 1 m VLC link the 10-CAP offers more than a 40 % improvement in the measured Rb compared to 2-CAP for the same bit error rate target. The Rb penalty due to the extension of a VLC link span from 1 m to 3 m reaches to 12.6 Mb/s for the 10-CAP scheme (i.e., ~39 % degradation in Rb). To fully cover all aspects of the hybrid FSO/VLC system, we also investigate the atmospheric turbulence effect on the 500 m FSO link n of 2.4×10?15 m?2/3 where Rb is decreased by 30 % for the refractive index structure parameter C2 compared to a clear channel condition.
