  • Fuzzy logic control for a grid-connected PV array through Z-source-inverter using maximum constant boost control method

    摘要: The paper presents an alternative scheme using fuzzy logic methodology to control a grid-connected photovoltaic system through ZSI using MCBC method. The system model and control are implemented using MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation toolbox. In view of control, Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) are designed to enhance the system stability. To ensure a unity power factor operation, the inverter modulation index is controlled to manage the phase current of the grid. Also, the control in the shoot-through ratio controls the output voltage of the PV array, so the maximum power (MP) is extracted. The simulation results using FLCs are compared with others obtained using Proportional Integral (PI) controllers. This is under the same normal operating and transient conditions which are irradiation variation, three-phase short circuit fault at point of connection and voltage variation of the grid. The simulation results of FLCs achieve supplementary enhancement of the system stability over various operating conditions.

  • Modern control scheme for Z-Source inverter based PV power generation systems

    摘要: Z-source inverter (ZSI) based photovoltaic power conversion system (PV-PCS) provides both the DC link voltage boost and DC-AC inversion in single stage with added features. Traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control algorithm generates the required shoot-through interval to output maximum power to the Z-network. At this instant, the voltage across Z-source capacitor is equal to the MPP voltage of PV array. The capacitor voltage cannot be further increased if it is demanded by the load. This paper presents an improved MPPT control algorithm along with modified MPPT algorithm to achieve both the MPPT as well as capacitor voltage control at the same time. Development and implementation of the proposed algorithm has been carried out by Matlab/Simulink software and the results are provided.

  • Computation and Communication Technologies || Implementation of Multilevel Z-Source Inverter using Solar Photovoltaic Energy system for Hybrid Electric Vehicles

    摘要: This paper extends a topology for cascaded multilevel Z source inverter employs of z source inverter unit block with bidirectional switches. The conventional z source inverter consist network impedance with multiple indictors and capacitors arranged Z type topology performs either buck or boost the input voltage for non linear load depending upon duty ratio and modulation index in a multiple stage conversion with the help of impedance source passive network (L and C Z source inverter reduces harmonic distortion and overcomes limitations of conventional inverters. The proposed multilevel Z source inverter reduces harmonics further and provides a novel topology for power conversion. Capability of proposed configuration in producing all odd and even output voltage level source with input to the power source and increase the power efficiency is proved by simulation result for 3-level inverter. The output of the proposed system is simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK and implemented in real simulation hardware for electric vehicles using dSPIC controller.

    摘要: Z source inverters (ZSI) can perform single stage, buck-boost conversion and have shown to offer slightly higher efficiency over traditional inverters. However, ZSI controller unit becomes more complex when achieving all objectives of Grid connected solar inverter applications where Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), grid synchronization and harmonic reduction from output voltage and current are simultaneously implemented. The control concept used to achieve above objectives is that varying shoot through duty of ZSI while keeping peak DC link voltage at a constant value. Control structure is designed in synchronous reference frame with two cascaded loops as outer voltage control loop and inner current control loop to maintain power balance of ZSI which results constant peak DC voltage. Besides that, incremental conductance algorithm sets shoot through duty of ZSI to extract maximum power from solar panel at a given irradiance and temperature level. In this paper we present a simulation study of a grid connected ZSI along with Incremental Conductance MPPT method. The details of theory, operation, design and simulation results are included in the paper.
