    摘要: Manufacturing execution systems play an important role of bridging high-level enterprise functions and production or manufacturing operations. The embedded systems are usually in charge of controlling execution of the operations. Modern embedded systems have become capable of simultaneous and deterministic execution of control algorithms and IP-based communication, making it possible to create complex cyber–physical systems (CPSs), where the computational and communication resources of a device can be used directly for various control, supervisory, or monitoring functions. The complexity for defining open-knowledge-driven manufacturing execution system (OKD-MES) is in maintaining awareness of overall system state to avoid disruptive actions as various functions may be requested from a system. The problem is that obtaining such information on system state may necessitate collecting data from a number of devices, as there may not be a single data point for state information. This paper describes and illustrates an approach for designing OKD-MES on top of CPSs that controls robot workstations and conveyor-based transportation system of a pallet-based production system.

  • Harmonizing by reducing inter-run variability: performance evaluation of a quality assurance program for antinuclear antibody detection by indirect immunofluorescence

    摘要: Background: The introduction of automated anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) analysis may allow for more harmonized ANA IIF reporting, provided that a thorough quality assurance program controls this process. The aim of this study was to evaluate various quality indicators used for ANA IIF analysis with the final goal of optimizing the iQC program. Methods: In an experimental setup, we introduced artificial errors, mimicking plausible problems during routine practice on a QUANTA-Lyser-NOVA View? system (Inova Diagnostics, San Diego, CA, USA). Predetermined quality indicators were evaluated against predefined acceptance criteria. In addition, we retrospectively investigated the applicability of the selected quality indicators in the daily routine practice during three pre-defined periods. Results: Both the experimental as the retrospective study revealed that pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical errors were not highlighted by company internal quality control (iQC) materials. The use of patient derived iQC samples, median fluorescence intensity results per run and the percentage of positive ANA IIF results as additional quality indicators ensured a more adequate ANA IIF quality assurance. Furthermore, negative and moderate positive sample iQC materials merit clinical validation, as titer changes of >1 correspond to clinically important shifts. Traditional Westgard rules, including a clinically defined stop limit, revealed to be useful in monitoring of the supplemental quality indicators. Conclusions: A thorough ANA IIF quality assurance for daily routine practice necessitates the addition of supplemental quality indicators in combination with well-defined acceptance criteria.

  • Possibilities for serial femtosecond crystallography sample delivery at future light sourcesa)

    摘要: Serial femtosecond crystallography (SFX) uses X-ray pulses from free-electron laser (FEL) sources that can outrun radiation damage and thereby overcome long-standing limits in the structure determination of macromolecular crystals. Intense X-ray FEL pulses of sufficiently short duration allow the collection of damage-free data at room temperature and give the opportunity to study irreversible time-resolved events. SFX may open the way to determine the structure of biological molecules that fail to crystallize readily into large well-diffracting crystals. Taking advantage of FELs with high pulse repetition rates could lead to short measurement times of just minutes. Automated delivery of sample suspensions for SFX experiments could potentially give rise to a much higher rate of obtaining complete measurements than at today’s third generation synchrotron radiation facilities, as no crystal alignment or complex robotic motions are required. This capability will also open up extensive time-resolved structural studies. New challenges arise from the resulting high rate of data collection, and in providing reliable sample delivery. Various developments for fully automated high-throughput SFX experiments are being considered for evaluation, including new implementations for a reliable yet flexible sample environment setup. Here, we review the different methods developed so far that best achieve sample delivery for X-ray FEL experiments and present some considerations towards the goal of high-throughput structure determination with X-ray FELs.

  • Context-Aware Depth and Pose Estimation for Bronchoscopic Navigation

    摘要: Endobronchial intervention is increasingly used as a minimally invasive means of lung intervention. Vision-based localization approaches are often sensitive to image artifacts in bronchoscopic videos. In this paper, a robust navigation system based on a context-aware depth recovery approach for monocular video images is presented. To handle the artifacts, a conditional generative adversarial learning framework is proposed for reliable depth recovery. The accuracy of depth estimation and camera localization is validated on an in vivo dataset. Both quantitative and qualitative results demonstrate that the depth recovered with the proposed method preserves better structural information of airway lumens in the presence of image artifacts, and the improved camera localization accuracy demonstrates its clinical potential for bronchoscopic navigation.

  • Novel sequential separation and determination of a quaternary mixture of fungicides by using an automatic fluorimetric optosensor

    摘要: A versatile flow-through multi-optosensor is proposed for the separation and spectrofluorimetric determination of mixtures of four widely used pesticides: carbendazim, thiabendazole, carbaryl and o-phenylphenol at μg g?1 levels in fruits. The flow system is based on the online pre-concentration and separation of the pesticides on a solid sensing microzone, followed by the sequential measurement of their native fluorescence. The separation of the pesticides takes place on a solid support located in the same flow cell, on which analytes are temporarily immobilized and separated from the matrix due to their different retention/desorption kinetics when they interact with the C18 silica gel microbeads. Suitable analytical parameters were obtained for the selected analytes, with method detection and quantification limits ranging between 0.1–0.5 and 0.2–1.6 μg g?1, respectively. These values comply with the maximum residue limits (MRLs) established by the Codex Alimentarius for these commodities; in addition, carbendazim, thiabendazole and ortho-phenylphenol comply with the MRLs of The European Union. The developed method was applied to the analysis of citrus fruits by performing recovery studies. Recoveries between 85% and 115% were obtained in all cases, and the results were confirmed by a liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry reference method.

This paper proposes, the digital automation of entire life test setup process using embedded system. The entire test process is monitored and results are displayed in LCD. This gives accurate run time and life of LED lamp during the test. The information of lamp failure and completion of test is sent through mail to concerned person.

  • Investigation of an Experimental Laser Sensor-Guided Spray Control System for Greenhouse Variable-Rate Applications

    摘要: Precision variable-rate spraying technology is needed for controlled-environment plant production in greenhouses. An experimental spray system for greenhouse applications was developed for real-time control of individual nozzle outputs. The system mainly consisted of a high-speed laser scanning sensor, 12 individual variable-rate nozzles, an embedded computer, a spray control unit, and a 3.6 m long mobile spray boom. Each nozzle was coupled with a pulse-width modulated solenoid valve to discharge sprays at variable rates based on target presence and plant canopy structure. Laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the accuracy of the spray control system in respect to spray delay time, nozzle activation, and spray volume using four target objects of different regular geometrical shapes and surface textures and two artificial plants of different canopy structures. Other experimental variables included three detection heights from 0.5 to 1.0 m and five sensor travel speeds from 1.6 to 4.8 km h-1. A high-speed video camera was used to determine the delay time and nozzle activation in discharging sprays on target objects after the laser sensor had detected the objects. The detection height and travel speed were found to have slight influence on the timing of nozzle activation. The nozzles started spraying in a range between 33 and 83 mm before reaching the target objects and stopped spraying between 13 and 84 mm after passing the objects, ensuring that the objects were fully covered by the spray. Spray volume corresponded to the object sizes well, and the spray control system performed with higher accuracy at lower travel speeds. Differences between the calculated spray volume based on the sensor detection and the actual spray volume ranged from 1.9 to 2.7 mL per object among all tested objects. The variable-rate control system reduced spray volume by 29.3% to 51.4% for all the objects compared with conventional constant-rate spraying. At the same time, the nozzles could be activated precisely by the object presence. Consequently, this experimental laser-guided system was implemented on a boom system in a commercial greenhouse for future investigations of its accuracy in variable-rate spraying to save pesticides, water, and nutrients.

  • Smart Line Scan Measurement Systems

    摘要: Current industrial machine vision applications mostly rely on PC-based image processing. Smart camera systems, which incorporate an image sensor and computing capabilities, were initially restricted to very simple tasks like barcode reading and interpretation. But as the computing capabilities of embedded systems increased, smart cameras are now able to handle a wide range of applications. Especially when machine vision has to be integrated into an existing automation system, this is often more easily done with a smart camera solution than with a PC-based vision system. Smart camera solutions are smaller, they generally generate less heat, and, therefore, can be a better choice if localized sorting tasks pass / fail decision making or process control is requested.

    摘要: In the study of frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar, it is difficult to complete an experiment with application-specific radars, since adapting their parameters bring much cost and time-consuming work. To address this problem, this paper presents an efficient and automated FMCW radar experimental platform. As a control center, a computer is integrated with a programmable transmitter, a programmable receiver and RF components in the platform. This platform can flexibly configure the parameters of the FMCW signal and realize automatic transmission, reception and signal processing in an automated and efficient way. The effectiveness of the platform is demonstrated by a laboratory experiment.
