Minimized reflectionless bandpass filter with four notches and low insertion loss
摘要: A size-minimized low-insertion-loss reflectionless bandpass filter with four notches is presented in this paper. The insertion loss of two quasi-elliptic-type filters is studied and optimized by a new approach based on cascade resonators branches. Parameters extraction procedure for the desired position of notches is illustrated. The inband performance, bandwidth and notch width are studied. This novel approach brings lower insertion loss. It can be extended to reflectionless bandpass filters with arbitrary number of notches. The size of filter is also minimized. This filter is designed, simulated, fabricated and measured. It is centered at 3.481 GHz with a 3-dB bandwidth of 276 MHz. The minimum measured in-band insertion loss, including the loss of SMA interface, is 1.239 dB. Four notches are located at 2.827, 3.238, 3.825 and 4.306 GHz, respectively. S11 of this filter is less than ?10 dB during 2–5 GHz.

Millimetre-wave low-temperature co-fired ceramic bandpass filter with independently controllable dual passbands
摘要: This study presents a detailed investigation on the frequency properties of the stub-loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SIR). For the first time, the frequency controllability of the third and fifth harmonic resonant frequencies (f3 and f5) of the SIR under different ratios of impedance and electric length is subjected to a complete theoretical analysis. It can be found that there is a length ratio which makes f3 and the voltage-null point at f3 never be affected by the change of the impedance ratio. Furthermore, the stub loaded at this voltage-null point also has no effect on f3. These features are successfully applicable to realise independent frequency control for dual-band bandpass filters (BPFs). In this situation, a new coupling path through the loaded stub can be constructed only for f5, and the coupling coefficients for the two bands can be individually varied. Accordingly, both the operational frequencies and bandwidths of the two bands can be separately adjusted. For demonstration, an independently controllable dual-band BPF operating at 27.5/33?GHz is designed and fabricated for millimetre-wave wireless applications. Good accordance is achieved between the simulated and measured results.

Miniature dual-band bandpass filter using modified quarter-wavelength SIRs with controllable passbands
摘要: A modified quarter-wavelength (λ/4) stepped-impedance resonator (SIR) is proposed to design a miniature dual-band bandpass filter (BPF). The proposed λ/4 SIR has two individually controllable resonances for constructing dual passbands. Moreover, two independent geometrical parameters are adopted to realize individual adjustment of the coupling strengths between two adjacent λ/4 SIRs at the dual passbands. As a result, both the center frequencies and bandwidths of the two passbands of the filter can be individually designed. Furthermore, multiple transmission zeros are created by the introduced source-load coupling, which improve highly the selectivity of both passbands. The dual-band BPF is designed at 2.35GHz and 5.8GHz, and its simulated and measured responses are presented and show good agreement.

摘要: The opto-electronic oscillator is a well-known microwave photonic device that produces high-frequency signals in the microwave range. One of the main advantages of the opto-electronic oscillator is that it produces high-frequency signals with low phase noise thanks to the resonator’s properties. In most cases the opto-electronic oscillator faces the problem of generating side modes besides the oscillation signal due to non-ideal filtering. In this paper we propose a solution for the additional suppression of these undesired harmonics using a combination of two slightly detuned bandpass microstrip filters. We report an improvement for the side-mode suppression ratio about 8.3 dB with a single-loop 90-m-long opto-electronic oscillator at 10.4 GHz.

Simple Coupled-Line Tunable Bandpass Filter With Wide Tuning Range
摘要: In this paper, a tunable bandpass filter using coupled line with a wide tuning range is proposed. The proposed filter has a simple structure which is composed of a coupled-line section and two pairs of varactors. Meanwhile, simultaneously tuning on bandwidth and center frequency are introduced by varactors. The tunability is mainly realized by varactors connected to one end of the coupled line and varactors between port and coupled line provides an impedance matching. A theoretical analysis is presented to illustrate the tunability by using even- and odd-mode theory. Additionally, the detailed effect of the two types of varactors is researched, respectively. To verify the concept, a prototype is designed, fabricated, and measured. The transmission zero exhibited in measurement is introduced by bias circuits. The measured results show that the tunable bandpass filter achieves a tunable center frequency of 0.494-1.257 GHz (87.15%) and a 3-dB bandwidth of 0.282-0.943 GHz (334%).

摘要: This research investigates the application of a halfwave coupled resonator employing dumbbell placed in the ground plane (DGS) that is used to design wideband filter. A type of microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) based on edge coupled DGS resonators is designed using Chebyshev approximation. By using admittance inverters, a wave digital model of microstrip bandpass filter with only one kind of resonator can be generated more conveniently. In order to validate the theoretical predictions and simulated results, a fifth order BPF is fabricated and experimentally verified. The measured and wave-based results have shown a good agreement.

摘要: In the current work, a new Wideband Substrate Integrated Waveguide Bandpass Filter (SIW-BPF) is presented. The target is to allow vertical roaming between the X and Ku band applications. As a first step, we performed a parametric study of different etched slot geometries namely, H-Slotted, T-Slotted, and U-Slotted DGS in order to examine the effects of altering different geometrical parameters of the unit on its response. H-Slotted DGS shows the highest FBW with 82.89% on the average compared to other geometries. As a second step, the cell size and the numbers of the H-Slotted DGS were optimized with the use of finite element method with the following constraints taken into consideration: low cost fabrication, high Q-Factor, compact size and easy integration. One of the designs was chosen for fabrication to validate the designed circuit. The measured results show that our optimized filter achieves an insertion loss of 2.01 dB at 8.5 GHz, a return loss higher than 11 dB and fractional bandwidth of 90.87% for a single cell and a fractional bandwidth of 80.05% for multiple cells. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.

摘要: Defected ground structure (DGS) is frequently involved to improve the characteristic response of microwave devices. In this paper, investigation of DGS utilization for characteristic enhancement of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) composed of complimentary-split-ring-resonator (CSRR) is presented. The filter is deployed on an FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate with the thickness of 1.6 mm and the dimension of 45 mm × 40 mm. The BPF which is designed by two reversely arranged CSRR incorporated on the SIW conductor surface provides passband extension at higher frequency producing the bandwidth response around 9 GHz. However, the use of CSRR also provides some unsatisfactory response at high frequency region requiring for the enhancement. By involving DGS into the BPF, the characteristic response at high frequency region could be enhanced with the bandwidth response achieves up to 10% improved.

A Switchable Diplexer Using Switchable Impedance Matching Circuit Technique
摘要: A new type of switchable diplexer is proposed by using switchable impedance matching circuit (SIMC) to connect two quasi-elliptic bandpass filters. The proposed SIMC consists of two different T-network phase shifters to provide the desired impedance matching and a pair of series-parallel configuration p-i-n diode switches to switch the channels on/off. The designed switchable diplexers have four available operation states, so that they realize multiple functional blocks in a single module. The fabricated switchable diplexer features compact size, wide passband, high isolation and independently switchable operation states.
