  • The study on negative dielectric properties of Al/PVA (Zn-doped)/p-Si (MPS) capacitors

    摘要: In this research, PVA (doped with 7% Zn) was sandwiched between Al and p-Si as a polymer interfacial layer. Voltage and frequency effect on the real and imaginary components of complex dielectric constant (e0 and e00), electric modulus (M0 and M00), loss tangent (tan d) and electrical conductivity (r) of the MPS-type capacitor has been studied. Impedance spectroscopy method was used between 5 and 5000 kHz at room temperature. Almost all frequency-related parameters were found as quite susceptible, especially in the accumulation and depletion regions. These changes in real and imaginary components of dielectric properties in depletion region were attributed to the interface layer and dipole polarization, the existence of surface states (Nss) and their relaxation time (s), especially at low frequencies. But these changes in the accumulation region were attributed to the existence of interfacial layer and series resistance (Rs) of the capacitor owing to the voltage divided between them and capacitor. As a result, frequency, applied biases, interfacial polymer layer, polarization processes, Nss and Rs of the capacitor are more effective on the values of e0, e00, tan d, M0, M00 and r. Therefore, the effects of them must be considered in determining the dielectric parameters, electric modulus, conductivity and conduction mechanisms in the capacitors with and without an interfacial layer such as insulator/oxide, polymer, ferroelectric materials.

  • Strain-Mediated Substrate Effect on the Dielectric and Ferroelectric Response of Potassium Sodium Niobate Thin Films

    摘要: If piezoelectric thin films sensors based on K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN) are to achieve commercialization, it is critical to optimize the film performance using low-cost scalable processing and substrates. Here, sol–gel derived KNN thin films are deposited using a solution with 5% of potassium excess on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si and Pt/SrTiO3 substrates, and rapid thermal annealed at 750 ?C for 5 min. Despite an identical film morphology and thickness of ~335 nm, an in-plane stress/strain state is found to be tensile for KNN films on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si, and compressive for those on Pt/SrTiO3 substrates, being related to thermal expansion mismatch between the substrate and the film. Correspondingly, KNN films under in-plane compressive stress possess superior dielectric permittivity and polarization in the parallel-plate-capacitor geometry.

  • [Ceramic Transactions Series] Proceedings of the 12th Pacific Rim Conference on Ceramic and Glass Technology (Ceramic Transactions) || Dielectric Properties of Confined Ionic Liquids

    摘要: Ionic liquids, as solvent free electrolytes, are promising materials improving the energy density of future storage devices. Two key requirements for such an application are a broad electrochemical window and a high ionic mobility of ionic liquids. A thorough measurement of the dielectric properties in a broad temperature and frequency regime allows analyzing the latter one in detail. Ionic mobility is influenced by intrinsic relaxations. These relaxations are influenced by correlation between the molecules. Confining the molecules allows to access this correlation length and to address the fundamental questions regarding supercooled liquids. We demonstrate this by confining the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium chloride in a metal-organic-framework, namely MFU-4. The preliminary results of an enhanced rotational motion compared to the bulk ionic liquid point towards a temperature, where the correlation length corresponds to the pore diameter of the confining host.

  • Recent development on modification of synthesized barium titanate (BaTiO3) and polymer/BaTiO3 dielectric composites

    摘要: In order to fabricate barium titanate (BaTiO3) particles with high purity, small particle size and narrow distribution of particle size, the synthesis methods and doping elements should be properly selected. Compared to polar polymers, non-polar polymers have advantages on the fabrication of miniaturized and lightweight electronic devices, due to excellent process-ability and little endogenous heat generated in the electric field. To avoid the aggregation of BaTiO3 particles in polymer matrix, several nanometer thick organic coating on the BaTiO3 surface is needed. What’s more, the alignment of BaTiO3 and hybrid use of fillers can further improve the dielectric properties of polymer/BaTiO3 composites.

  • Structural, optical, and dielectric studies of LaFe1?xMoxO3 (x?=?0.0, 0.5) perovskite materials

    摘要: The structural, optical, and dielectric properties of LaFe1?xMoxO3 (x = 0.0, 0.5) synthesized by the sol–gel method were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman scattering, and impedance spectroscopy. XRD analysis revealed that the x = 0.5 compound is single-phase and orthorhombic, with space group Pbnm, similar to the parent x = 0.0 compound but with larger lattice parameters and/or a larger unit-cell volume. The Raman scattering spectra revealed local lattice distortions in the x = 0.5 compound and spin–phonon coupling related to the magnetic transition (Néel) temperature. The impedance data were well fitted with an R(R1-CPE1)//(R2-CPE2) equivalent electrical circuit, demonstrating the contributions of both grains and grain boundaries. The temperature (300–500 K) and frequency (100 Hz–1 MHz) dependences of the dielectric properties showed that Mo substitution adversely affected the dielectric parameters.
