摘要: This study focused on the implementation of display technology used for providing information to hearing impaired students wishing studying Information Technology (IT) at a higher education level. In this work, virtual reality scenes superimposed on the real world were created, using a smartphone application with specialized equipment to provide the projection. The Augmented Reality (AR) of smartphone applications was designed with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in order to help with learning of hearing impaired high school students. The objective of the mobile AR application was to provide students with a tool to understand the content without the help of teachers. Because video content has been translated into the Thai sign language, smartphones could be used to read markers serving to provide education guidance for higher education. In AR technology, virtual objects are placed real-time on the real environment. To provide education guidance, the study used an AR application called Aurasma. A heuristic technique and the UDL were applied to the development of the education guidance on Aurasma. A total of 30 students of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University took part in this study. The heuristic evaluation results of this study were rated as good and the application has a potential to help hearing impaired students to become more interested in higher education, resulting in more opportunities in higher education for them.

Application of blurred circular 3D images on the human vision model
摘要: By letting students simulate operations and games on a digital education operation system, schools are able to inspect learning achievement and teaching quality. In digital education area, we are able to use blockchain technology to simplify process, improve competition mode. It’s helpful improve efficiency and avoid the problem of opaque and falsification messages. Besides, it can provide unchangeable digital certification of academic achievement. Based on existing research foundation, against features on related users and services, especially the standard and trustful problem in competitions and evaluation mode nowadays, I studied competition mode based on blockchain technology, designed blockchain’s application mode and frame, analyzed evaluation criteria and algorithm, designed an operational skill evaluation model, developed an operational skill competition evaluation system based on e-business sandbox and experimented it.

摘要: Medical instrumentation devices are crucial to determine health conditions in humans. Teaching biomedical instrumentation requires a perfect combination of practice and theory. Therefore, the use of physiological signals simulators such as a %SpO2 becomes important as a teaching strategy. The objective of this project is to develop and implement an oxygen saturation simulator, for use in the biomedical instrumentation courses. The development process began by establishing the requirements of the simulator and designing a graphical user interface to control the simulator parameters. Subsequently, a circuit capable of materializing the simulated signals from the interface was developed, together with a probe or artificial finger that was to be introduced inside the objective pulse oximeter. Finally, the systems were integrated into the simulator

A New Hands-on Course in Characterization of Wide Bandgap Devices
摘要: As wide bandgap (WBG) devices and applications move from niche to mainstream, a new generation of engineers trained in this area is critical to continue the development of the field. This paper introduces a new hands-on course in characterization of WBG devices, which is an emerging and fundamental topic in WBG-based techniques. First, the lecture-simulation-experiment format based course structure and design considerations, such as safety, are presented. Then the necessary facilities to support this hands-on course are summarized, including classroom preparation, software tools, and laboratory equipment. Afterward, the detailed course implementation flow is presented to illustrate the approach of close interaction among lecture, simulation, and experiment to maximize students’ learning outcomes. Finally, grading for students and course evaluation by students are discussed with the findings and potential improvements highlighted. Detailed course materials are provided via potenntial.eecs.utk.edu/WBGLab for educational use.

Face-to-face versus online training for the interpretation of findings in the fiberoptic endoscopic exam of the swallow procedure
摘要: Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of an online, interdisciplinary, interactive course designed to increase the ability to accurately interpret the fiberoptic endoscopic exam of the swallow (FEES) procedure to traditional, face-to-face (F2F) lectures for both graduate medical education (GME) and graduate speech language pathology (GSLP) programs. Design: This was a prospective, quantitative, nonrandomized study. Participants were medical residents in physical medicine and rehabilitation from two affiliated programs and graduate students in speech language pathology from two instructional cohorts at a single institution. Group 1, traditional group (n=51), participated in F2F lectures using an audience response system, whereas Group 2, online group (n=57), participated in an online, interactive course. The main outcome measure was pre- and post-course FEES knowledge test scores. Results: For Group 1, the mean pre-course score was 26.94 (SD=3.24) and the post-course score was 34.96 (SD=2.51). Differences between pre- and post-course scores for Group 1 were significant (t=?16.38, P≤0.0001). For Group 2, the mean pre-course score was 27.05 (SD=2.74) and the post-course score was 34.05 (SD=2.84). Differences between pre- and post-course scores for Group 2 were significant (t=?13.5, P≤0.0001). The mean knowledge change score for Group 1 and Group 2 was 8.01 (SD=3.50) and 7.04 (SD=3.91), respectively (nonsignificant, t=1.372, P=0.173), suggesting groups made similar gains. Conclusion: Incorporating technology into GME and GSLP programs yielded comparable gains to traditional lectures. Findings support the use of online education as a viable alternative to the traditional F2F classroom format for the instruction of the cognitive component of the FEES procedure.

[ACS Symposium Series] Raman Spectroscopy in the Undergraduate Curriculum Volume 1305 || Implementation of Raman Spectroscopy in an Undergraduate Forensic Chemistry Course
摘要: Raman spectroscopy has emerged as a valuable instrumental tool to supplement spectroscopic approaches, such as infrared spectroscopy for analyzing forensic samples including drugs, fibers, textiles, soil components, inks, pigments, paints, and body fluids, both in the field and at crime laboratories. As a result, Raman spectroscopy has been incorporated into undergraduate forensic chemistry courses. Using a Rigaku Progeny X2 Raman spectrometer, students recorded Raman spectra of organic and inorganic materials including drugs, adulterants, and coordination complexes. Students searched for matches using a chemical library and assigned peaks attributable to the chemical structures using a correlation table. They observed conditions in which Raman spectroscopy recorded bands not observed with the infrared spectrometer, reflecting the complementarity of the two techniques. An advantage of Raman spectroscopy for forensic analysis compared to infrared spectroscopy is that dangerous samples can be analyzed through containers and aqueous solutions can be analyzed without interference from water.

Thermal Imaging Experiments as an Inspiration for Problem-based Learning
摘要: In the last decade, a powerful tool has been given to physics teachers to visualize thermodynamic phenomena. Thermal imaging cameras are fascinating devices opening the world of (even small) temperature changes and being able to uncover hidden manifestations of many processes around us. This paper describes a few qualitative thermal imaging experiments prepared primarily for problem-based lessons and repeatedly used with high school or even university students in the Interactive Physics Laboratory at Charles University. These experiments are focused on thermal processes, which often run in unexpected ways (at least for the students), and their explanations typically require a complex insight into physics, so they can be used as a starting point for discussions and activities designed for some level of inquiry.

Evolution of quasi-history of the Planck blackbody radiation equation in a physics textbook
摘要: In physics textbooks, the emphasis is normally placed on the physics. In order to give the subject a deeper dimension, the inclusion of history and persons involved in the development has been increasing. However, the actual historical development does not always follow a linear progression, which is the way the physics is presented in textbooks. In order to study how the inclusion of “history” has in?uenced the presentation, a study of the development of a well-known history in different editions of a physics textbook is done. The gradual development of a quasi-history is observed and possible explanations for this are investigated.

摘要: Learning to program is a complex task, and the impact of different pedagogical approaches to teach this skill has been hard to measure. This study examined the performance data of seven cohorts of students (N = 1168) learning programming under three different pedagogical approaches. These pedagogical approaches varied either in the length of the introductory programming block of courses (two or three semesters) or in the programming tool used in the first semester (C language or the programming support tool Raptor). In addition, gender and initial course selection differences were investigated. Raw pass rates under the three pedagogical approaches were compared; they were also compared, controlling for initial ability levels, using a logistic regression. Results showed that a more extensive duration of the introductory block produced a higher pass rate in students, but changing the programming tool used did not. Raw gender differences were not statistically significant; admission phase differences were initially statistically different, but not once initial ability and pedagogical approach received had been accounted for. Findings are discussed in relation to existing literature.

Innovative education and training in high power laser plasmas (PowerLaPs) for plasma physics, high power laser matter interactions and high energy density physics: experimental diagnostics and simulations
摘要: The second and final year of the Erasmus Plus programme ‘Innovative Education and Training in high power laser plasmas’, otherwise known as PowerLaPs, is described. The PowerLaPs programme employs an innovative paradigm in that it is a multi-centre programme, where teaching takes place in five separate institutes with a range of different aims and styles of delivery. The ‘in-class’ time is limited to 4 weeks a year, and the programme spans 2 years. PowerLaPs aims to train students from across Europe in theoretical, applied and laboratory skills relevant to the pursuit of research in laser plasma interaction physics and inertial confinement fusion. Lectures are intermingled with laboratory sessions and continuous assessment activities. The programme, which is led by workers from the Hellenic Mediterranean University and supported by co-workers from the Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Bordeaux, the Czech Technical University in Prague, Ecole Polytechnique, the University of Ioannina, the University of Salamanca and the University of York, has just finished its second and final year. Six Learning Teaching Training activities have been held at the Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Bordeaux, the Czech Technical University, the University of Salamanca and the Institute of Plasma Physics and Lasers of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. The last of these institutes hosted two 2-week-long Intensive Programmes, while the activities at the other four universities were each 5 days in length. In addition, a ‘Multiplier Event’ was held at the University of Ioannina, which will be briefly described. In this second year, the work has concentrated on training in both experimental diagnostics and simulation techniques appropriate to the study of plasma physics, high power laser matter interactions and high energy density physics. The nature of the programme will be described in detail, and some metrics relating to the activities carried out will be presented. In particular, this paper will focus on the overall assessment of the programme.
