  • Nano-mirror embedded back reflector layer (BRL) for advanced light management in thin silicon solar cells

    摘要: This work illustrates a technology for advanced light management by introducing a nonconventional back reflector layer (BRL) in amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells. To meet this, silver sulfide (Ag2S) nanoparticles with ~50 nm diameter have been chosen as the nano-mirror owing to its low parasitic absorption loss over a broad wavelength (300 to 1100 nm) region. The Ag2S NPs were sandwiched between two indium tin oxide (ITO) layer and placed as the back reflector layer of an a-Si:H solar cell to achieve better light trapping within the active layers. The embedded structure exhibited high reflectance (up to 93%) in the red and near-infrared region, the main working zone of a-Si:H cells. With the incorporation of such state of the art back reflector structure in a-Si:H solar cells, a photo-conversion efficiency of 10.58% has been achieved; which is one of the best in this class.

  • A systematic approach to ZnO nanoparticle-assisted electron transport bilayer for high efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells

    摘要: Minimizing the interface loss of perovskite solar cells is critical to achieving high photovoltaic performance, and intensive research is underway on interfacial engineering in this regard. In this work, we introduce a ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) interlayer between phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) and a metal electrode in order to reduce the interface loss due to charge recombination and device degradation, and also investigate the dependence of device performance on the thickness and morphology of the PCBM and PCBM/ZnO electron transport bilayer. After achieving optimized PCBM and ZnO thickness, the PCBM/ZnO bilayer-based devices reached an average power conversion efficiency of 15.63% (Max. 16.39%) with an open circuit voltage of 1.05 V, short circuit current density of 18.69 mA cm-2, and fill factor of 79.95%. In addition, hysteresis behavior and atmospheric stability are significantly improved by the incorporation of a PCBM/ZnO bilayer. Therefore, the implementation of a PCBM/ZnO electron transport bilayer is a promising approach toward achieving a high-efficiency PSC with stable power output (low J-V hysteresis) and durability.

    摘要: In this paper, the cutoff frequency of the quad-ridge flared horn (QRFH) with respect to its ridge is studied. Based on the studies, we developed a QRFH to operate from 6 GHz to 18 GHz with high efficiency. The test results show that the return loss is less than -10 dB across the whole band. When the QRFH is used to illuminate a reflector antenna, the aperture efficiency is above 55.8%.

  • Novel High Gain, High Efficiency DC–DC Converter Suitable for Solar PV Module Integration With Three-Phase Grid Tied Inverters

    摘要: This paper proposes a novel configuration for high gain, high efficiency dc–dc converter comprising a single switch, two intermediate capacitors, and a coupled inductor for low voltage solar PV module fed applications. The high voltage gain is achieved by charging the intermediate capacitors through the coupled inductor in parallel and discharging in series. In a two winding coupled inductor, considered in the presented work, maximum two intermediate capacitors can be integrated with the secondary winding. A passive lossless clamped circuit is also provided in the converter, which recovers the leakage energy to improve the efficiency and alleviate large voltage spike. The structure of the circuit is such that the power device voltage stress is reduced thereby increasing the efficiency. The maximum power point tracking at various irradiation levels is implemented in the proposed converter. Laboratory prototype of a 300-W system with 30–45-V input and 700-V output was built to validate the theoretical claims. All the detailed analysis, simulation, and experimental waveforms are presented. A maximum converter efficiency of around 95% is achieved.

  • Color Noise Reduction Method in Non-constant Luminance Signal for High Dynamic Range Video Service

    摘要: A high dynamic range (HDR) video service is an upcoming industry. For compatibility with legacy devices receiving a non-constant luminance (NCL) signal, new tools supporting an HDR video service are required. The current pre-processing chain of HDR video can produce color noise owing to the chroma component down-sampling process for video encoding. Although a luma adjustment method has been proposed to solve this problem, some disadvantages still remain. In this paper, we present an adaptive color noise reduction method for an NCL signal of an HDR video service. The proposed method adjusts the luma component of an NCL signal adaptively according to the information of the luma component from a constant luminance signal and the level of color saturation. Experiment results show that the color noise problem is resolved by applying our proposed method. In addition, the speed of the pre-processing is increased more than two-fold compared to a previous method.

  • High-performance Raman quantum memory with optimal control in room temperature atoms

    摘要: Quantum memories are essential for quantum information processing. Techniques have been developed for quantum memory based on atomic ensembles. The atomic memories through optical resonance usually suffer from the narrow-band limitation. The far off-resonant Raman process is a promising candidate for atomic memories due to broad bandwidths and high speeds. However, to date, the low memory efficiency remains an unsolved bottleneck. Here, we demonstrate a high-performance atomic Raman memory in 87Rb vapour with the development of an optimal control technique. A memory efficiency of above 82.0% for 6 ns~20 ns optical pulses is achieved. In particular, an unconditional fidelity of up to 98.0%, significantly exceeding the no-cloning limit, is obtained with the tomography reconstruction for a single-photon level coherent input. Our work marks an important advance of atomic memory towards practical applications in quantum information processing.

  • Scaling Procedures and Post-Optimization for the Design of High-Efficiency Klystrons

    摘要: A semianalytical parametric scaling procedure (PSP) for klystron design has been developed. The PSP allows existing klystron designs to be scaled to different operating frequencies, beam power, and perveance, while maintaining the electron bunching and deceleration processes. For the fixed layout of a klystron RF circuit, the PSP provides parameters of the scaled klystron which are nearly optimal. The theoretical background and step by step derivation of the scaling principles are presented. The effectiveness of the PSP is shown through a generic five-cavity L-band klystron.

  • High efficiency???low efficiency roll-off and long lifetime fluorescent white organic light-emitting diodes based on strategic management of triplet excitons via triplet-triplet annihilation up-conversion and phosphor sensitization

    摘要: The simultaneous realization of high efficiency, low efficiency roll-off, long lifetime and stable electroluminescence (EL) spectra in fluorescent white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) is still a huge challenge. Here, we used a triplet-triplet annihilation up-conversion (TTA-UC) material as blue emission layer and phosphor sensitized fluorescent emitter as red emission layer and introduced a bipolar interlayer between them to fabricate high efficiency, low efficiency roll-off and long lifetime fluorescent WOLEDs. It is clearly seen that the bipolar interlayer not only efficiently distributed the singlet and triplet excitons, but also significantly stabilized the EL spectra. Thus, the resulting two-color fluorescent WOLEDs exhibited the maximum current efficiency (CE), power efficiency (PE) and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 26.9 cd A-1, 22.3 lm W-1 and 12.8%, and remained 25.9 cd A-1, 16.9 lm W-1 and 12.1% at the luminance of 1000 cd m-2 and 23.1 cd A-1, 10.6 lm W-1 and 10.7% at the luminance of 10000 cd m-2, respectively, and the operational lifetime LT50 (50% decay, initial luminance of 1000 cd m-2) was also up to 984 h. It can be seen that these devices also showed stable EL spectra with Commission Internationale de I’Eclairage (CIE) of (0.51, 0.41) from 1000 cd m-2 to 5000 cd m-2 luminance. Furthermore, the fabricated three-color fluorescent WOLEDs by further introducing a green fluorescent emitter, also showed high efficiencies of 15.5 cd A-1, 13.0 lm W-1 and 8.1% and stable EL spectra with CIE of (0.43, 0.36) form 1000 cd m-2 to 5000 cd m-2 luminance. More importantly, their CE and EQE exhibited an increasing tendency with the luminance, a fully negligible efficiency roll-off. This design strategy provides a potential route towards high performance fluorescent WOLEDs.

    摘要: a non-coupled high gain DC-DC converter is introduced in this article. It is based on ?uk converter, also consists of two inductors, which are charged in parallel by input source and discharged in series. The voltage gain of the proposed converter is improved, while it has no transformers and coupled inductors. Furthermore, the voltage stress across the switches is decreased. Hence, switches with lower voltage level can be used in the proposed converter. Fortunately, these switches have low ON-state resistance ((cid:1792)(cid:1804)(cid:1819).(cid:1815)(cid:1814) ), which causes decreasing in switch conduction losses. Furthermore, the proposed converter has high efficiency as well as simple control system. Finally, the principle operation and simulation results are presented.

  • Controlled crystallinity and morphologies of 2D Ruddlesden-Popper perovskite films grown without anti-solvent for solar cells

    摘要: Two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskite films have attracted considerable attention for the environmentally stable perovskite solar cells. However, there is a big space for improving the film crystallinity and its crystallographic orientation to enhance the efficiency of solar cells. In addition, the assistance of anti-solvent is commonly used to obtain a better crystallinity and orientation of 2D RP perovskite films. Nevertheless, the anti-solvent method produces a lot of volatile organic compounds toxic to human health and is challenging to control. Here, we prepared 2D RP perovskite (PEA)2(MA)4Pb5I16 (n = 5) films with the assistance of methylammonium chloride (MACl) additive via a simple one-step deposition method by avoiding anti-solvent treatment. The MACl additive is believed to induce the formation of an intermediate phase composed of perovskite crystals without annealing, which directly promotes the vertical alignment of 2D RP perovskite films on the substrate. The 2D RP films deposited on the mesoporous TiO2 electron transport layer showed high crystallinity and preferential vertical crystallographic orientation. The resulting devices exhibited a power conversion efficiency of 9.7%, much higher than that of the devices prepared without MACl (0.66%).
