  • Visible light-driven photoelectrocatalytic degradation of Acid Yellow 17 using Sn3O4 flower-like thin films supported on Ti substrate (Sn3O4/TiO2/Ti)

    摘要: This article reports a new method for preparing mixed valence tin oxide (Sn3O4) flower-like nanostructures using a microwave-assisted route. Thin-film Sn3O4/TiO2/Ti electrodes demonstrated highly efficient visible light driven photocatalytic degradation of monoazo acid yellow 17 (AY17) dye, reaching 95% color removal after 60 min at pH 2. Moreover, under low bias potential (0.5 V), the photoelectrocatalytic efficiency increased to 97% color removal and 83% removal of total organic carbon at a kinetic rate almost 3 times higher than in photocatalysis. Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry was used to identify intermediate formation, and oxidation performance was proposed for photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic degradation with no organics identified after 120 min of treatment. The results indicate that Sn3O4/TiO2/Ti photoelectrodes offer a simple, green method for wastewater treatment employing visible light source.

  • The Application of Green-Synthesis-Derived Carbon Quantum Dots to Bioimaging and the Analysis of Mercury(II)

    摘要: Ginkgo leaves were used as precursors for the hydrothermal synthesis of carbon quantum dots (CQDs), which were subsequently characterized by transmission electron microscopy as well as Fourier-transform infrared, X-ray powder di?raction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The prepared CQDs exhibited a ?uorescence quantum yield of 11% and superior water solubility and ?uorescence stability, as well as low cytotoxicities and excellent biocompatibilities with A549 and HeLa cells; these CQDs were also used to bioimage HeLa cells. Moreover, owing to the experimental observation that Hg2+ quenches the ?uorescence of the CQDs in a speci?c and sensitive manner, we developed a method for the detection of Hg2+ using this ?uorescence sensor. The sensor exhibited a linear range for Hg2+ of 0.50–20 μM, with an excellent coe?cient of determination (R2 ? 0.9966) and limit of detection (12.4 nM). In practice, the proposed method was shown to be highly selective and sensitive for the monitoring of Hg2+ in lake water and serum samples.

  • One-pot synthesis of 3D Cu <sub/>2</sub> S–MoS <sub/>2</sub> nanocomposites by an ionic liquid-assisted strategy with high photocatalytic activity

    摘要: Novel 3D Cu2S–MoS2(x : y) nanocomposites with different proportions of Cu2S (x) and MoS2 (y) are synthesized successfully by a one-step hydrothermal method with the assistance of the ionic liquid [BMIM]SCN. The characterization results show that the nanocomposites are self-assembled from nanosheets of Cu2S and MoS2, they display nanoflower morphology and a typical mesoporous structure. The fabrication mechanism of the nanocomposites is investigated using time-dependent experiments, which indicate the key role of the ionic liquid (IL) in the synthesis process. Furthermore, TAA is used as a sulfur source instead of the IL to form a Cu2S–MoS2 nanocomposite, with the aim of further investigating the effects of the IL on the morphology of the composite. Photodegradation of MB under visible light irradiation experiments were used as probe reactions to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of the as-prepared samples. All the nanocomposites show better catalytic activity than Cu2S and MoS2 monomers. Among the different Cu2S–MoS2(x : y) nanocomposites, the Cu2S–MoS2(1 : 1) composite exhibits the most excellent photocatalytic performance and cycling stability.

  • In-Situ Synthesis of Nb2O5/g-C3N4 Heterostructures as Highly Efficient Photocatalysts for Molecular H2 Evolution under Solar Illumination

    摘要: This work focuses on the synthesis of heterostructures with compatible band positions and a favourable surface area for the efficient photocatalytic production of molecular hydrogen (H2). In particular, 3‐dimensional Nb2O5/g‐C3N4 heterostructures with suitable band positions and high surface area have been synthesized employing a hydrothermal method. The combination of a Nb2O5 with a low charge carrier recombination rate and a g‐C3N4 exhibiting high visible light absorption resulted in remarkable photocatalytic activity under simulated solar irradiation in the presence of various hole scavengers (triethanolamine (TEOA) and methanol). The following aspects of the novel material have been studied systematically: the influence of different molar ratios of Nb2O5 to g‐C3N4 on the heterostructure properties, the role of the employed hole scavengers, and the impact of the co‐catalyst and the charge carrier densities affecting the band alignment. The separation/transfer efficiency of the photogenerated electron‐hole pairs is found to increase significantly as compared to that of pure Nb2O5 and g‐C3N4, respectively, with the highest molecular H2 production of 110 mmol/g·h being obtained for 10 wt % of g‐C3N4 over Nb2O5 as compared with that of g‐C3N4 (33.46 mmol/g·h) and Nb2O5 (41.20 mmol/g·h). This enhanced photocatalytic activity is attributed to a sufficient interfacial interaction thus favouring the fast photogeneration of electron‐hole pairs at the Nb2O5/g‐C3N4 interface through a direct Z‐scheme.

  • α-Fe <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> Polyhedral Nanoparticles Enclosed by Different Crystal Facets: Tunable Synthesis, Formation Mechanism Analysis, and Facets-dependent <i>n</i> -Butanol Sensing Properties

    摘要: Three kinds of polyhedral α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles enclosed by different facets including oblique parallel hexahedrons (op-hexahedral NPs), cracked oblique parallel hexahedrons (cop-hexahedral NPs), and octadecahedral nanoparticles (octadecahedral NPs), were successfully prepared by simply changing only one reaction parameter in the hydrothermal process. The structural and morphological of the products were systematically studied using various characterizations including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), revealing that the three kinds of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were enclosed by {104}, {110}/{104}, and {102}/{012}/{104} crystal planes, respectively. The exposed facets and shape of the nanocrystals were found to be affected by the adding amount of ethylene glycol in the solvent. The gas-sensing properties and mechanism of the α-Fe2O3 samples were studied and analyzed, which indicated that the sensitivity of the three samples followed the order of octadecahedral NPs (cid:2) cop-hexahedral NPs (cid:2) op-hexahedral NPs due to the combined effects of specific surface area and oxygen defects in the nanocrystals.

  • Energy Transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+ in Yttrium and Gadolinium Orthoborates Obtained by Hydrothermal Synthesis

    摘要: We studied the structure, IR absorption spectra, the spectral characteristics of photoluminescence and morphology of cerium- and terbium-doped orthoborates of gadolinium and yttrium obtained by hydrothermal synthesis at 200°C, as well as solid solutions of orthoborates on the basis of yttrium, gadolinium, and lutetium with composition RECe0.01Tb0.1BO3 (RE = Lu0.5Gd0.39, Lu0.5Y0.39, and Y0.5Gd0.39). The X-ray diffraction spectrum of yttrium orthoborate Y1 – x – yCexTbyBO3 is described by a hexagonal lattice with space group P63/m, which, after annealing at 970°C, transforms into a monoclinic lattice with space group C2/c. High-temperature annealing of the studied orthoborates leads to a multiple, more than two orders of magnitude, increase in the luminescence intensity of Tb3+ ions when the samples are excited in the absorption band of cerium ions. This effect is the result of a significant increase in the concentration of Ce3+ ions in the orthoborates at high temperatures. It is shown that the luminescence of terbium ions is due to energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+, which proceeds with high efficiency (~85%) by the mechanism of dipole-dipole interaction between cerium and terbium.

  • A SHG-active manganese coordination polymer with noncentrosymmetric structure based on achiral carboxyphosphinate ligand

    摘要: The hydrothermal reaction of MnSO4 with the achiral 2-carboxyethyl(phenyl)phosphinate ligand (H2L) afforded a 2 D coordination polymer manganese phosphinate, [Mn(HL)2]n (1) (H2L ? 2-carboxyethyl(phenyl) phosphinic acid). It contains two types of dimeric ring motifs, which can generate a layer structure through edge-sharing. The interlayer stacking by C-H … p interactions between the C-H groups of the phenyl rings of HL- and the phenyl rings of the adjacent layers results in its crystallization in a noncentrosymmetric crystal structure with (43)2(46(cid:2)66(cid:2)83) topology. Compound 1 shows a second harmonic generation response that is 0.8 times that of urea. The luminescence spectrum indicates an emission maximum at 457 nm, attributed to an intra-ligand emission state.

  • A Facile Route for NLO Materials: Three-Site Alivolent Substitution Involving One Cation and Two Anions

    摘要: Two mixed-metal gallium iodate fluorides, namely, α- and β-Ba2[GaF4(IO3)2](IO3) (1 and 2) have been obtained by the aliovalent substitutions of α- and β-Ba2[VO2F2(IO3)2](IO3) (3 and 4) involving one cationic and two anionic sites. Both of them display large SHG signals (~6 × KDP), large energy bandgaps (4.61 and 4.35 eV), wide transmittance ranges (~0.27-12.5 μm), and large relevant LDTs (29.7 × and 28.3 × AgGaS2, respectively), which indicates that 1 and 2 are potential second-order NLO materials in ultraviolet to mid-infrared. Our studies propose that three-site aliovalent substitution is a facile route for the discovery of good NLO materials.

  • Effects of precursors and caustic bases on structural and vibrational properties of ZnO nanostructures elaborated by hydrothermal method

    摘要: The effects of zinc ions source (zinc acetate and zinc sulfate) and caustic bases (sodium and potassium hydroxides) on structural, morphological and vibrational properties of ZnO nanostructures elaborated by simple low temperature wet chemical process are studied. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies. XRD results show that ZnO structures are polycristalline hexagonal wurtzite with high crystal quality. SEM images reveal that the morphologies of the nanostructures are nanopencils except in those synthesized with zinc sulfate precursor and sodium hydroxide caustic base, where pencils agglomerate to form sand rose-like morphologies. EDAX measurements confirm the purity of the elaborated specimens by the presence of only Zn and O atoms in the samples. Raman spectroscopy studies show that the peaks, related to E2 high mode, are more intense in ZnO structures elaborated with zinc acetate when NaOH is used, and in ZnO structures elaborated with zinc sulfate when KOH is employed.

  • Magneto-Optical Effects in Colloidal Solutions of Barium Hexaferrite

    摘要: Hydrothermal synthesis was used to obtain lamellar magnetic particles of barium hexaferrite, and colloidal solutions were prepared on their basis. Magneto-optical effects in colloid solutions of barium hexaferrite were examined. It was found that the aqueous colloidal solution of coarse planar particles of barium hexaferrite is a magneto-optical medium that is nearly two orders of magnitude more effective than the colloid formed from isometric cobalt ferrite particles. It was shown that measuring the frequency dependence of the magneto-optical effects and approximating the experimental data with the Debye function makes it possible to find the frequency f0 characteristic of the given colloid and to calculate the characteristic size of particles (or aggregates) creating the optical anisotropy in the colloid under the action of a magnetic field. A dichroism is observed in the aqueous colloid formed by coarse planar barium hexaferrite particles. This phenomenon is due to the change in the light scattering on coarse particles upon their orientation by a magnetic field.
