    摘要: In this paper, a solution to the double curl equation with generalized Coulomb gauge is proposed based on the vectorial representation of the magnetic vector potential. Traditional Coulomb gauge is applied to remove the null space of the curl operator and hence the uniqueness of the solution is guaranteed. However, as the divergence operator cannot act on edge elements (curl-conforming) directly, the magnetic vector potential is represented by nodal elements, which is too restrictive, since both the tangential continuity and the normal continuity are required. Inspired by the mapping of Whitney forms by mathematical operators and Hodge (star) operators, the divergence of the magnetic vector potential, as a whole, can be approximated by Whitney elements. Hence, the magnetic vector potential can be expanded by the edge elements, where its vectorial nature is retained and only the tangential continuity is required. Finally, the original equation can be rewritten in a generalized form and solved in a more natural and accurate way using finite-element method.

  • Second-harmonic generation by a chirped laser pulse with the exponential density ramp profile in the presence of a planar magnetostatic wiggler

    摘要: Second-harmonic generation of the relativistic self-focused chirped laser pulse in plasma has been studied with the exponential plasma density ramp profile in the presence of a planar magnetostatic wiggler. It is evident that the exponential plasma density ramp is helpful in enhancing second-harmonic generation as, with the introduction of the exponential plasma density ramp, self-focusing becomes stronger and hence, it leads to enhance the harmonic generation of the second order in the plasma. Also, it is observed that the efficiency of second-harmonic generation enhances significantly with an increase in the value of the chirp parameter. Further, the magnetostatic wiggler helps in enhancing the harmonic generation of the second order. This is due to the fact that dynamics of the oscillating electrons is altered due to the Lorentz force which, in turn, modifies the plasma wave and, hence, results in the efficient second-harmonic generation.

    摘要: Ferrimagnetic materials possess unique non-linear properties at RF/microwave frequencies that enable analog signal processing effects such as frequency selective limiters (FSL) with low-loss (< 3dB), low power thresholds (<-20 dBm), flat limiting response, high selectivity (< 5MHz), and rapid response times (< 5us). FSL technologies can be used to add capability to radar, electronic warfare, and communications systems by protecting them from high power microwave attack, preserving sensitivity to signals-of-interest, and extending front end receiver dynamic range. Recent developments in reflective-type FSL devices are presented here.
