  • Driving force of crystallisation based on diffusion in the boundary and the integration layers

    摘要: Crystal growth rates are notoriously difficult to predict and even experimental data are often inconsistent. By allowing for mass and energy diffusion through the molecular and thermal layers surrounding a growing crystal and for the heat effect of crystallization, a new model of crystal growth from solution is proposed and applied to crystallization of potassium chloride from aqueous solution. The driving force for crystal growth was calculated using the solubility at the interface temperature in contrast to the conventional one based on bulk temperature. A positive heat effect at the crystal interface as well as the resistances to the mass and energy transfer processes to and from the crystal surface can reduce the conventional driving force for crystal growth by more than 20%.

    摘要: this paper is related with an experimental study of modelling and fabrication of an autonomous solar parabolic trough collector. Parabolic Trough Collectors do not pollute the environment and hence can be marked as Green Technology. In this paper, a prototype of PTC is optically designed, fabricated, tested and controlled with an autonomous solar tracking system. The system is easy to install, modular and operate and maintain its primary functions under the given parameters in order to widespread and diffuse the use of solar energy. The fabricated PTC and its tracking system were tested under an open sky under hot and humid climatic conditions. The experimentation results were compared with the initial mathematical modelling and it contained significant variations due to several factors. The overall aim of the work reported in this paper was to test the performance of a solar parabolic trough collector system by raising the temperature of the working fluid above the boiling point of water and to enhance the efficiency also by reducing the cost of the heat produced.

  • Modelling and Terrestrial Laser Scanning Methodology (2009a??2018) on Debris Cones in Temperate High Mountains

    摘要: Debris cones are a very common landform in temperate high mountains. They are the most representative examples of the periglacial and nival processes. This work studies the dynamic behavior of two debris cones (Cone A and Cone B) in the Picos de Europa, in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. Their evolution was measured uninterruptedly throughout each August for 10 years (2009–2018) using the Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) technique. The observations and calculations of the two debris cones were treated independently, but both showed the same behavior. Therefore, if these results are extrapolated to other debris cones in similar environments (temperate high mountain), they should show behavior similar to that of the two debris cones analyzed. Material falls onto the cones from the walls, and transfer of sediments follows linear trajectories according to the maximum slope. In order to understand the linear evolution of the two debris cones, pro?les were created along the maximum slope lines of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of 2009, and these pro?le lines were extrapolated to the remaining years of measurement. In order to determine volumetric surface behavior in the DEMs, each year for the period 2009–2018 was compared. In addition, the statistical predictive value for position (Z) in year 2018 was calculated for the same planimetric position (X,Y) throughout the pro?les of maximum slopes. To do so, the real ?eld data from 2009–2017 were interpolated and used to form a sample of curves. These curves are interpreted as the realization of a functional random variable that can be predicted using statistical techniques. The predictive curve obtained was compared with the 2018 ?eld data. The results of both coordinates (Z), the real ?eld data, and the statistical data are coherent within the margin of error of the data collection.

    摘要: The cells in an organism emit different amounts of proteins according to their clinical state (healthy/pathological, for instance). The resulting proteomic pro?le can be used for early detection, diagnosis, and therapy planning. In this paper, we study the classi?cation of a proteomic sample from the point of view of an inverse problem with a joint Bayesian solution, called inversion-classi?cation. We propose a hierarchical physical forward model and present encouraging results from both simulation and clinical data.

  • Optimization of parameters of integrated optical waveguides based on thin-film Sol-gel structures by using mathematical modelling

    摘要: An algorithm for calculating optical waveguide film parameters was proposed, the use of which makes it possible to reduce the time for processing experimental data. The developed algorithm was tested using experimental data of waveguides samples with a wave-guiding layer of zirconium dioxide sol-gel films. A comparison of the developed algorithm and the Wolfram Mathematica program showed a good agreement of the results, as well as the developed method advantage in terms of using ease and timesaving spent on processing the results.

  • Colour removal of phthalocyanine based reactive dye by nanoparticles

    摘要: Synthesized iron-nickel (Fe–Ni) bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) were utilized for the colour removal of C. I. Reactive Blue 21 (RB21) dye. NPs agglomeration was prevented using polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as capping agent. The NPs were characterized by nanoparticle size analysis, TEM, XRD and EDX. The operational conditions like pH, NPs concentration and initial dye concentration for decolourization were optimized using mathematical modelling and its kinetics were studied. Influence of the presence of alkali and salt on dye decolourization was also investigated. Decolourization products were analysed by using FTIR and GCMS analysis. 93.46% of dye decolourization was obtained and reduction in COD, BOD values was achieved along with minimal sludge generation.
