    摘要: A family of integrated set-up micro-inverter was proposed for the application of photovoltaic power generation system. The proposed inverters have the advantages of less power devices, simpler topology and higher integration and they can achieve voltage pump and invert at the same time. These topologies are suitable for the photovoltaic AC module which has low input voltage, small size and high integration. According to the existing integrated inverters, constructing the switch-diode (SD) unit through the traditional boost or buck-boost DC/DC converters, then proposing the switch-switch (SS) unit with bi-directional flow of the energy. At last, a family of integrated sep-up micro-inverter was derived by combining the SS unit. One of the proposed topologies was given as an example and verified by simulation prototype, which indicates that the topology can achieve the functions of voltage pump and inverting.

  • Improvement of energy harvesting capability in grid-connected photovoltaic micro-inverters

    摘要: In this paper, a multi-stage micro-inverter system depending on a dual neutral point clamped (D-NPC) inverter is developed for low power photovoltaic (PV) applications. The primary objectives of this study are determined as improving the performance of the proposed D-NPC inverter-based micro-inverter and its controller to ensure better system reliability and promote the overall efficiency. In comparison with conventional systems, the designed system provides many advantages: (1) utilization of lower rating switching components, (2) reduced switching frequency and voltage stress, (3) reduced the size of filter components, (4) higher efficiency, and (5) lower total harmonic distortion (THD). The weighted efficiency of the system is remarkably increased by the value of 2.15% compared to the conventional micro-inverter and reached 93.73%. Furthermore, the THD value of the output current is measured below 3% for the proposed system with the small size of passive filtering elements. Further, dynamic grid support and anti-islanding detection capabilities are provided through the utilized controller structure to fulfill grid codes. Consequently, obtained results demonstrate that the improved system can be a considerable candidate for photovoltaic micro-inverter applications in terms of weighted efficiency, output current THD, and reasonable cost.

    摘要: Traditional boost converter cannot offer a high voltage gain due to the conduction losses in the ESR of capacitor and DCR of inductor, at higher duty cycles. Therefore, traditional boost converter cannot be employed for voltage conversion in occasions that need very high voltage boosting such as the grid-connected photovoltaic micro- inverter. In this paper, a high voltage gain step-up converter, utilizing a switched-inductor (S-L) cell, is proposed. The input current of the suggested converter is continuous because of the presence inductor at source side that makes the input filter design easier. This converter produces very high output voltage at a lower duty cycle, which makes it suitable for photovoltaic micro-inverter application. The basic operation principles and steady-state analyses of the proposed step-up converter are discussed to derive the voltage gain and voltage/current stresses across each component. The proposed boost converter is finally simulated in MATLAB/Simulink to verify all theoretical analyses.

    摘要: Performance of the conventional photovoltaic (PV) systems is limited by the on-board embedded systems in the solar inverters. Moreover, an expensive supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system or phase management units (PMUs) are still required for intelligent maintenance of the PV systems. It is expected that the conventional solar micro inverters can be advanced as a result of further investigation of the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and cloud/edge computing services. This paper proposes an internet of things (IoT)-enabled solar inverter using blockchain technology, which improving connectivity, observability, cyber security, and decentralized control toward a smarter PV system in smart grid environments. The IoT device incorporating blockchain technology enables the solar micro inverter to securely: 1) aggregate and send data to a main server for PV system health monitoring; 2) sharing data with other devices for decentralized optimal controls; and 3) execute PV inverter-level energy transaction and record. The concept of the proposed IoT-enabled solar micro inverter is validated by experimental studies.

  • Hardware Approach to Mitigate the Effects of Module Mismatch in a Grid-connected Photovoltaic System: A Review

    摘要: This study reviews the hardware approach to mitigate the e?ects of module mismatch in a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system. Unlike software solutions, i.e. the maximum power tracking algorithm, hardware techniques are well suited to enhance energy yield because of their inherent ability to extract energy from the mismatched module. Despite the extra cost of the additional circuitry, hardware techniques have recently gained popularity because of their long-term ?nancial bene?ts. Notwithstanding the growing interest in this topic, review papers that provide updates on the technological developments of the three main hardware solutions, namely micro inverter, DC power optimizer, and energy recovery circuits, are lacking. This is in contrast to software solutions, which have had a considerable number of reputable reviews. Thus, a comprehensive review paper is appropriate at this juncture to provide up-to-date information on the latest topologies, highlight their merits/drawbacks, and evaluate their comparative performance.

    摘要: In this paper, we investigate the potential applications of facade integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial buildings in Vietnam. By integrating PV systems into the facade of buildings, we can reduce the energy consumption of the building, including air conditioning and lighting systems. Our study proposes a comprehensive approach to designing suitable PV facade systems for commercial buildings in Vietnam, which includes the selection of appropriate PV panels, facade types, and inverter configurations. We also introduce essential simulation software for planning and designing facade PV systems and for simulating the overall building energy performance. The results of our study demonstrate that facade PV systems can significantly decrease the energy consumption of commercial buildings in Vietnam.

  • PV module fault diagnosis based on micro-converters and day-ahead forecast

    摘要: The employment of solar micro-converter allows a more detailed monitoring of the PV output power at the single module level; thus, machine learning techniques are capable to track the peculiarities of modules in the PV plants such as regular shadings. In this way it is possible to compare in real-time the day-ahead forecast power with the actual one in order to better evaluate faults or anomalous trends which might have occurred in the PV plant. This paper presents a method for an effective fault diagnosis; this method is based on the day-ahead forecast of the output power from an existing PV module, linked to a micro-converter, and on the outcome of the neighbor PV modules. Finally, this paper proposes also the analysis of the most common error definitions with new mathematical formulations, by comparing their effectiveness and immediate comprehension, in view of increasing power forecasting accuracy and performing both real-time and offline analysis of PV modules performance and possible faults.

    摘要: Phase, amplitude and frequency of the utility grid are critical parameters for the operation of the grid-connected power conditioning equipments. In such applications, an accurate and fast detection of the phase angle of the utility voltage is essential to insure a correct generation of the reference signals. This paper mainly focuses on the simulation, test and the implementation of a specific Phase Locked Loop “inverse Park transformation PLL” that is used to control a PV-Micro-Inverter. The improvement consists of better harmonics filtering. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

    摘要: Recently, introducing grid-tied PV systems is recommended in many countries. The inverter lifetime in PV applications is affected by their operating conditions. That is affected by the thermal loading of the power devices lifetime of electrolytic capacitors. Especially, the electrolytic capacitors at the DC-link to compensate the power ripple decreases when the ambient temperature increases. To improve the lifetime, a micro-inverter with an active buffer at the DC-link is introduced in this paper. In this micro-inverter, the DC-link electrolytic capacitor is replaced with a ceramic capacitor that has small capacitance. However, the reliability performance of the entire micro-inverter has not been evaluated. This paper thus assesses the lifetime of the micro-inverter considering the operational conditions (i.e., ambient temperature and solar irradiance, also referred to as mission profiles). A comparison between the proposed circuit with an active buffer and the conventional circuit based on a boost chopper is performed in this paper. It is revealed that the lifetime of the micro-inverter is very long. This is due to the over-designed power devices.
