  • Improving detection efficiency of superconducting nanowire single-photon detector using multilayer antireflection coating

    摘要: Optical cavity with backside optical coupling is one of the prevalent optical structures for superconducting nanowire single photon detector. A single layer anti-re?ection coating (ARC) on the backside of the substrate is often adopted to enhance the transmittance to the substrate. We here apply a multilayer ARC to further increase the transmittance from 94.5% to 99.5%. An NbTiN SNSPD made on such a substrate with cavity structure presents a system detection ef?ciency of 90.1% at a dark count rate (DCR) of 100 Hz, which is the best value reported for backside optical coupled SNSPD at 1550 nm. It shows a timing jitter of ~40.7 ps and the recovery time constant of ~22.9 ns.

  • Optical and Magneto-Optical Properties of Multilayer Nanosized [Co/TiO2]n Films

    摘要: The optical and magneto-optical properties of the metal–dielectric multilayer [Co/TiO2]n structures with 2–4-nm-thick layers prepared on a silicon substrate Si(001) by ion-beam deposition have been studied. The complex permittivity of multilayer [Co/TiO2]n structures has been measured by the optical ellipsometry technique in the spectral range of 0.6–5.6 eV and analyzed using the optical reflection matrices for isotropic multilayer dielectric structures taking into account the optical losses and also using the method of anisotropic effective medium. The magneto-optical Kerr effect has been measured by the polarimetric technique in the spectral range of 1.2–4.5 eV in the polar and longitudinal geometries. The magnetic anisotropy type is determined on the base of the field dependences of the magneto-optical Kerr effect. It is found that the nanosized [Co/TiO2]n structures can be considered as artificial optically uniaxial media with a strong magnetic and optical anisotropy at room temperature.

  • Stabilisation of Cu films in WO3/Ag/Cu:Al/WO3 structures through their doping by Al and Ag

    摘要: Indium tin oxide (ITO) is the most common transparent conductive material used in industrial processes. It has many advantages, but also some disadvantages: Indium is scarce and ITO deposition techniques are aggressive for organic materials, making it difficult to use it as top electrode in organic devices. Moreover its ceramic structure limits its application in flexible devices. Among the possible new In free transparent conductive electrode, dielectric/metal/dielectric multilayer structures such as WO3/M/WO3 appear very promising. However, silver, which is the metal the more often used is expensive. Therefore it would be very profitable if copper, which is abundant on earth, could be substituted for silver. However the stability with time of the structure using Cu is questionable due to the high Cu diffusivity. In the present manuscript we improve significantly the lifetime of the structures using the alloy Cu:Al when a thin silver layer (2 nm) is introduced between the WO3 bottom layer and the Cu:Al. It is shown that the Cu atom mobility is significantly decreased by the presence of Al of the alloy and of Ag which appears to diffuse into the metal layer forming an eutectic with Cu.

  • Long spin coherence length and bulk-like spin–orbit torque in ferrimagnetic multilayers

    摘要: Spintronics relies on magnetization switching through current-induced spin torques. However, because spin transfer torque for ferromagnets is a surface torque, a large switching current is required for a thick, thermally stable ferromagnetic cell, and this remains a fundamental obstacle for high-density non-volatile applications with ferromagnets. Here, we report a long spin coherence length and associated bulk-like torque characteristics in an antiferromagnetically coupled ferrimagnetic multilayer. We find that a transverse spin current can pass through >10-nm-thick ferrimagnetic Co/Tb multilayers, whereas it is entirely absorbed by a 1-nm-thick ferromagnetic Co/Ni multilayer. We also find that the switching efficiency of Co/Tb multilayers partially reflects a bulk-like torque characteristic, as it increases with ferrimagnet thickness up to 8 nm and then decreases, in clear contrast to the 1/thickness dependence of ferromagnetic Co/Ni multilayers. Our results on antiferromagnetically coupled systems will invigorate research towards the development of energy-efficient spintronics.

  • Two-channel high-resolution quasi-monochromatic X-ray imager for Al and Ti plasma

    摘要: High-resolution, high-sensitivity X-ray imaging is a real challenge in high-energy density plasma experiments. We present an improved design of the Fresnel ultra high-resolution imager instrument. Using an Ultra-High-Intensity (UHI) laser to generate hot and dense plasma in a small volume of an Al-Ti mixed target provides simultaneous imaging of both Al and Ti X-ray emission. Specifically, the Al Heβ (or Lyβ) and the Ti Heα lines are imaged with a resolution of (2.7 ± 0.3) μm and (5.5 ± 0.3) μm, respectively. It features two transmission Fresnel phase zone plates fabricated on the same substrate, each associated with a multilayer mirror for spectral selection. Their spatial resolution has been measured on the PTB synchrotron radiation facility laboratory at BESSY II and on the EQUINOX laser facility. Results obtained on an UHI experiment highlight the difference of emission zone sizes between Al and Ti lines and the versatility of this instrument.

  • Reentrant wideband quasi-elliptic bandpass filter

    摘要: The novel microwave wideband quasi-elliptic bandpass filter, in which the initially uncoupled strip transmission lines are used is considered in the present study. The proposed filter is based on the reentrant structure in which the metallic body with a floating potential is asymmetrical. Generally speaking, the internal and external dielectric fillings must be of unequal relative permittivity. As a result, the additional symmetrical transmission zeros are reached at the lower and upper stop bands of the pass band leading to the quasi-elliptic response function that improves the bandpass filter selectivity. The general TEM circuit model for the proposed filter, in terms of the multi-port series connection, is presented and then used to predict the initial electrical and geometrical quantities. A printed circuit prototype has been manufactured using a conventionally printed circuit board implementation. The measured results are in an acceptable agreement with the simulation-derived ones, and that improves the degree of freedom in the frequency selective unit design.

  • Influence of Al/Cu thickness ratio and deposition sequence on photoelectric property of ZnO/Al/Cu/ZnO multilayer film on PET substrate prepared by RF magnetron sputtering

    摘要: ZnO/Al/Cu/ZnO multilayer films were deposited on flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering. The overall thickness of the intermediate Al and Cu metal layers maintained at 8 nm. The four different Al/Cu thickness ratios were 7:1, 6:2, 5:3 and 4:4. Other four reference samples were prepared by using the same process, i.e. ZnO single-layer film, ZnO/Al8 (8-nm-thick Al layer, the same below)/ZnO, ZnO/Cu8/ZnO and ZnO/Cu2/Al6/ZnO multilayer films. The effects of Al/Cu thickness ratio and deposition sequence of Al and Cu layers were investigated. The results revealed that with the increase of Cu layer thickness, sheet resistance of the multilayer film decreased, while transmittance increased first and then decreased. The ZnO/Al6/Cu2/ZnO multilayer film with a sheet resistance of 108 Ω/sq and an average visible transmittance of 84.73% had the optimum overall photoelectric property, being confirmed by the highest figure of merit of 1.77 × 10–3 Ω–1. Furthermore, ZnO/Cu2/Al6/ZnO and ZnO/Al6/Cu2/ZnO multilayer films exhibited almost the same average visible transmittance and sheet resistance, implying that the deposition sequence of Al and Cu layers has little influence on photoelectric properties. It is demonstrated that ZnO/Al/Cu/ZnO multilayer flexible films have great potential in various fields.

  • Coupling Layer-by-Layer Assembly and Multilayer Transfer to Fabricate Flexible Transparent Film Heater

    摘要: Flexible transparent film heaters (f-TFH) were prepared on a polysulfone (PSU) film with a multilayer transfer of silver nanowires (AgNWs) coated on glass substrates via layer-by-layer (LBL) deposition. First, as-received AgNWs were functionalized with carboxylic acid (AgNW-COOH) and amine (AgNW-NH2) moieties to obtain negatively and positively charged nanowires, respectively. Second, functionalized AgNWs were sequentially coated on a glass substrate via the LBL deposition, which was followed by subjecting the multilayer film to annealing at 125 °C for 30 min to improve the electrical conductivity. Third, the multilayer was transferred from the glass substrate to the polymer film by coating and detaching the PSU. The multilayer film provided optical transmission of 84% and sheet resistance of 12 ?/□ with 5 bilayer sample, which is comparable to indium tin oxide (ITO) film. The f-TFH reached maximum temperature of 128 °C at 7 V with a response time of 45 s. Moreover, it exhibited good defrosting capability by applying 7 V for 20 s. Cyclic bending test results indicated that the sheet resistance of the flexible multilayer film does not demonstrate any change until 300 cycles, while adhesion test 3-M tapes exhibited no sheet resistance change even after 20 peel cycles showing the superior performance of the multilayer film. In addition, the film showed stable heating performance at 128 °C for 5 h.

    摘要: The range and ef?ciency of resonant inductive wireless power transfer depends on the quality factor of the resonant coils. A multilayer self-resonant structure (MSRS), made of many alternating layers of thin foil conductors and dielectric, has been shown to have a quality factor many times higher than conventional resonant coils of similar size. To date, the MSRS has only been modeled and tested for small-signal excitations and the impact of large-signal excitations on the MSRS performance has not been considered. This paper explores large-signal effects such as Steinmetz core loss, temperature dependence of winding and core losses, and the thermal effect of loss in order to determine the power handling capability of the MSRS. The analysis shows that a 6.6 cm-diameter prototype MSRS is capable of transferring as much as 10.7 kW over a 0.5 cm gap and 760 W over 2.2 cm, for maximum 40 ?C temperature rise in a 25 ?C environment.

  • Surface plasmon resonance, photoluminescence and surface enhanced Raman scattering behaviour of Ag/ZnO, ZnO/Ag and ZnO/Ag/ZnO thin films

    摘要: The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Ag thin films in ZnO/Ag, Ag/ZnO bilayers and ZnO/Ag/ZnO multilayers produced by vacuum thermal evaporation has been studied. The role of thickness of the individual layers in the range of 5-50 nm was investigated. Detailed studies were carried out by fixing the thickness of the plasmon active layer and varying the dielectric layer thickness and vice versa. These studies reveal that the SPR of Ag is very sensitive to the geometry of the structures and as a consequence it has a strong effect on the photoluminescence (PL) as well as Surface enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) behaviour. The PL peak of 5 nm thickness pure ZnO films which was centred at around 370 nm, was red shifted at higher thickness of 50 nm. Further, this peak was blue shifted to 324 nm when a 5 nm thickness Ag layer is introduced underneath the ZnO layer. The SERS behaviour of these structures was tested using R6G as the analyte. The enhancement factor for a 5 nm thickness pure Ag film was found to be 5x103. The highest enhancement factor for ZnO/Ag, Ag/ZnO and ZnO/Ag/ZnO trilayer films was found to be 7.4x106, 4.4x105 and 8.9x104, respectively.
