    摘要: Renewable energy sources (RES) based generation has emerged as one of the best option due to global environmental concerns, especially for off-grid load locations like islands, mountains, etc., where diesel generators are main source of power generation. This paper presents a case study of an efficient photovoltaic (PV) generation integrated with multilevel inverter to ensure regulated power at user end. Perturb and observe (PO) algorithm based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has been used to track maximum power for PV applications. However in PV based power generation, control problem arises due to large variation of irradiance round the clock. This problem can be overcome by hybrid PV generation system, i.e., application of secondary power source as battery and fuel cell integrated with PV generation unit. The DC output of standalone hybrid PV-SOFC-Battery generation system is inverted by a single-phase multilevel converter. This output of developed standalone hybrid PV-SOFC-Battery generation system is used to supply the single-phase load. This inverter offers less THD which is compared with three level inverter.

  • A Low-Power, Inductorless Wideband Cryogenic Amplifier For Supercondcting Nanowire Single Photon Detector

    摘要: This paper presents a low-power, inductorless wideband cryogenic amplifier for superconducting nanowire single photon detector (SNSPD). To achieve wide bandwidth, low power consumption and small chip area, a modified Cherry-Hooper amplifier topology is used. With good input and output match, at 4.2 K temperature the measurement results show that the amplifier achieves 23-dB gain with a flat gain response, a 3-dB bandwidth (BW) of over 3.4 GHz, which covers frequencies as low as 130 kHz. Fabricated in a 0.13-μm silicon germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS technology, the amplifier core occupies a silicon area of only 0.075 mm2 and consumes a power of only 4 mW.

  • Design of GaN-Based Low-Loss Y-Branch Power Splitter

    摘要: We present a Y-branch power splitter design with a multimode section using GaN on Sapphire at telecommunication wavelength. The GaN sample optical properties were also investigated, resulting in a refractive index for the GaN layers nTE=2.289±0.001 and nTM=2.324±0.00. Optimization of the structure parameters for this structure was conducted accurately using BPM methods. The results demonstrated the possibility of realizing a GaN-based Y-branch power splitter for various applications.

  • Comparative Study on Solar Powered Interleaved Boost Converter

    摘要: Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy. But, it is unpleasant that, only partial amount of energy can be extracted from the Solar cells by our conventional DC-DC Boost converters. A comparative study on solar powered Interleaving Boost converters (ILBCs) is initiated. A novel Solar powered, Series-Inductor ILBC with less current ripple than the conventional ILBC is proposed. A comparative study on single- stage, two-stage and three-stage ILBCs are done. The comparison of ripple reduction of output voltage is tried with ‘C’, ‘Pi’ and Cascade Filters. The results have been applied to R-Load and motor load. The input of 150V is fed to the ILBC from the solar cell and compared for the ripple. The proposed solar powered series inductor ILBC has reduced ripple than the conventional ILBCs. Comparison table of performance and simulation results of these aforementioned solar powered ILBCs have been exhibited in this paper.

  • Consideration of the Impact of the Environmental Conditions when Designing Heat-Receiving Systems of the Solar Cylindrical Parabolic Modules

    摘要: The aerohydrodynamic and heat exchange characteristics in the cylindrical heat receiver of a solar cylindrical parabolic concentrating module are investigated. The mathematical model is based on the Navier-Stokes equation system for a laminar flow in a channel. The model is implemented using the control volume method. The created computer algorithm allows carrying out parametric studies and revealing the most rational geometric, dynamic, and power parameters of the process. The proposed model describes the general physical outlines of the heat exchange in a cylindrical heat receiver which allows estimating the influence of the environment—wind velocity, ambient temperature, etc.—on it.

  • Study on Charge transportation and scaling behavior of CsPbI3 microwires

    摘要: Cesium lead iodide (CsPbI3) has been prepared by a new experimental hazard free precipitation technique. X-ray diffraction spectra have been interpreted with Rietveld refinement which assures the orthorhombic phase of CsPbI3. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectra confirms the formation of ternary compound. Orthorhombic to cubic phase transition has been studied by observing hysteresis loop in R(T)-T plot for forward-reverse temperature scan. The intra-grain and inter-grain contribution of CsPbI3 to dielectric relaxation has been accounted by fitting the complex impedance plot (Cole-Cole plot). The value of FWHM in Z″(ω)-lnf or M″(ω)-lnf plot is greater than 1.141 decades which reveals the non-Debye type relaxation within material. The broad relaxation peak signifies that there is a distribution of relaxation time over a mean value. Moreover, Z″ & M″ have been plotted in scaled coordinate to check whether the distribution of relaxation time is temperature dependent or not. The frequency dependent relative permittivity represents the decreases of polarizations with frequency which have been successfully analyzed by Koop’s theory. Here, activation energies are equal for different formalism, suggests that the same type charge carriers involved in conduction as well as relaxation process. Ac conductivity has been interpreted by using Jonncher’s power law and frequency exponent (n) increases with temperature which suggests the presence small polaron hopping mechanism.

  • Analysis of optical and thermal factors’ effects on the transient performance of parabolic trough solar collectors

    摘要: Solar resources are inherently unsteady and their energy density on the earth is low. Thereby, when the solar energy is converted into thermal energy through concentrating the sunlight, how to predict the transient performance of parabolic trough solar collectors under the operating conditions is necessary for the steady useful output and the efficient use of the energy. So this paper describes a mathematical model of the transient thermal behaviors of parabolic trough solar collectors. Then, to validate this transient model, its numerical results are compared with the experimental data. These data were collected from a utility-scale loop of parabolic trough solar collectors. The comparison between the model predictions and the experimental data shows a consistent and reasonable agreement. Furthermore, the primary interest of this study is to determine how the temperature distributions of the absorber, the glass envelope and the heat transfer fluid evolve from initial conditions with specified optical and thermal parameters. Thus, this model is used to carry out parametric studies to make analyses of essential impact factors on transient behaviors of parabolic trough solar collectors. These factors include the temperature of the heat transfer fluid at the inlet, the initial conditions, and the optical efficiency. Moreover, this model has the function of continuous adjustment of the flow rate to satisfy the requirement of the temperature of the heat transfer fluid at the outlet according to varying boundary conditions. Hence, another analysis is performed to investigate transient processes when the flow rate is continuously adjusted at various DNI ramp rates.

  • Assessment of concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies based on a modified intuitionistic fuzzy topsis and trigonometric entropy weights

    摘要: Concentrated solar power (CSP) technology has shown considerable long-term growth with varying levels of peak development and stall phases over the years. More and more countries are finding CSP technology attractive for the production of electricity and other applications. CSP offers a variety of applications where solar power can be used appropriately, although the debate about which CSP technology has a better future perspective is still ongoing. This technology sector has seen a multitude of advancements and technological innovations. These improvements are primarily concerned with the design of the collectors and the related materials they are made from, the heat transfer processes, and the production and accumulation of energy. In order to assess these CSP technologies, in this paper we propose a fuzzy multi-criteria method. Then, Solar tower (ST), Parabolic solar trough (PST), Compact linear Fresnel reflector (CLFR), and Dish Stirling (DS) are evaluated using a modified intuitionistic fuzzy TOPSIS with a trigonometric entropy vector weight.

    摘要: Proposed hybrid electric power generation system is constituted from Free Piston Stirling engine generator and solar photovoltaic system. Free Piston Stirling engine electric generator uses biomass, such as wood pellets as the heat source. This system produces maximum output of 1.6kW and 45°C 200L hot water with linear generator. This paper studied the control of output voltage of Free Piston Stirling Engine. ILQ (Inverse Linear Quadratic) control theory is used to keep output active power between 400W and 500W. In long range time constant of burning system and in short range time constant of electrical circuit, experiment yields temperature of FPSEG head between upper limit and lower limit.

  • Coordinated control of MPPT and voltage regulation using single-stage high gain DC–DC converter in a grid-connected PV system

    摘要: In general, grid-connected PV system uses two stages of DC-DC converter to accomplish Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and DC voltage regulation. In order to overcome the two stage conversion, a single stage high gain DC-DC converter is presented in this paper. The operation of three switches with two different duty ratio is the main advantage of this converter to accomplish the coordinated control of MPPT and DC voltage regulation. This coordinated control also helps to provide constant DC voltage to the DC loads though the inverter is disconnected from the DC bus. A 1KW grid-connected PV system with the proposed DC-DC converter is developed and is validated using OP4500 Real-Time test platform. In addition, a decoupled control strategy with fractional order proportional-integral (FOPI) controller is implemented at the inverter end. Also, the reactive power compensation, harmonic reduction (less than 5% as per the IEEE 519 standard) and the grid power factor close to unity is obtained and the results are validated using the real-time simulator.
