Analysis of Approaches for Modeling the Low Frequency Emission of LED Lamps
摘要: Light emitting diode (LED) lamps are now an established lighting technology, which is becoming prevalent in all load sectors. However, LED lamps are non-linear electrical loads, and their impact on distribution system voltage quality must be evaluated. This paper provides a detailed analysis of time domain and frequency domain approaches for developing and evaluating models suitable for use in large scale steady-state harmonic power ?ow analysis of the low frequency (LF) emission of LED lamps. The considered approaches are illustrated using four general categories of LED lamps, which have been shown to cover the vast majority of LED lamps currently available on the market. The aim is an in-depth assessment of the ability of commonly applied models to represent the speci?c design characteristics of different categories of LED lamps. The accuracy of the models is quantitatively evaluated by means of laboratory tests, numerical simulations, and statistical analyses. This provides an example, for each LED lamp category, of comprehensive information about the overall accuracy that can be achieved in the general framework of large scale LF harmonic penetration studies, particularly in the assessment of voltage quality in low voltage networks and their future evolution.

摘要: This paper proposes a method capable of reproducing the particular operating conditions of a hot strip mill and predicting the evolution of the main electrical variables from both the characteristics of the steel to be milled and the specific features of the rolling mill. The method analyzes the load torque and the motor-speed evolution in the stands of the roughing and finishing mill drives, according to the steel to be milled. In this study, three types of carbon alloy steel are considered, thus involving dissimilar hardness characteristics. The main stands of the mill, the power network, and the filter banks have been modeled. The relationship between the grade of steel and both the electrical demand and various power quality parameters is discussed. The results can be used as a part of an expert system for the automatic estimation of the electrical demand in a hot rolling mill.

As electrical products are also becoming more based on solid-state designs, such as LED lighting and dimmers, electrical loads are not purely resistive, but contain voltage and current spikes. This paper describes a testbed laboratory that will attempt to model LED household lighting loads, and correlate the energy measurements for changes in accuracy by various kinds of smart meters under unusual loads.

摘要: Nowadays there is more need for traceability for distorted power waveforms. Therefore a power calibration system was developed at the European Standards Laboratory of Yokogawa Europe Solutions B.V. This system has the capability to calibrate electrical power meters from DC, 10 Hz up to 100 kHz. To evaluate the calibration system traceability, a bilateral comparison was carried out between the Yokogawa European Standards Laboratory and the National Standards Institute of Sweden (RISE).
