[OSA CLEO: Applications and Technology - San Jose, California (2015..-..)] CLEO: 2015 - Photonic generation of linearly-chirped microwave waveform with tunable center frequency and time-bandwidth product
摘要: A novel approach is presented to generate linearly-chirped microwave waveforms with tunable center frequency and expandable time-bandwidth product (TBWP). Different types of waveforms are demonstrated and the maximum measured TBWP is up to ~166.4.

摘要: In this paper we present a photonics-based wideband emitter module, using two uni-travelling carrier photodiodes coupled to a pair of high gain planar antennas, reporting a two-element array operating in the 50 to 120 GHz frequency range. This antenna array provides a maximum gain of 15.9 dBi with side-lobes less than -15 dB. The measurements show a record 3-dB bandwidth of 45 GHz, covering three waveguide bands (V, E and F). Moreover, a combined peak radiated power of -6.4 dBm (214 (cid:2)W) at 75 GHz is also achieved. The scalable design presented allows for realization of photonic phased antenna array.

摘要: The performance of a cost-effective receiver, based on a balanced 3×3 polarization maintaining symmetric coupler, applied to a 15GHz radio-over-fibre back-haul transport network for C-RAN architecture, is experimentally validated. A power sensitivity of -29dBm is demonstrated, with low required local oscillator power (7 dBm) over a long transmission distance (60 km).

摘要: We discuss some potential benefits of using integrated RF-photonic devices/circuits in a phased-array-Radar system. A viable and simple solution is proposed for a low-cost, RF-photonic multi-beams beamformer that meets both transmitting and receiving RF-system specifications/requirements. Proof-of-concept experiments and chip-scale integrated-photonics subsystem development will also be discussed.
