摘要: Waveguide slot antennas and arrays date back to the forties, but they are still nowadays very popular as high-frequency antennas, mainly for RADAR and communication systems. In this paper we describe the main limitations and drawbacks of waveguide slot arrays configurations, and the possible countermeasures proposed in the literature, focusing on the improved design technique available for high performance planar waveguide slot arrays.

Circularly Polarized T-Shaped Slot Waveguide Array Antenna for Satellite Communications
摘要: A novel circularly polarized (CP) waveguide slot array for satellite communications is proposed. The antenna features a unique feeding network and a unit cell that consists of a pair of simple T-shaped waveguide slots. The proposed configuration not only eliminates grating lobes, which are often seen in conventional waveguide slot arrays, but also simplifies the fabrication process without any sacrifice in the performance, while also allowing scalability. A prototype 6×8 array antenna is designed at 29.5 GHz, and fabricated by dip brazing. A high gain of 21.9 dBi and a -10 dB impedance bandwidth of 1 GHz are achieved, with an axial ratio of 1.3 dB without any grating lobes. The measured results are in very good agreement with the simulated results.

摘要: A fully integrated 1×4 filtering linear antenna array is presented in this work. The filtering array is designed in substrate integrated waveguide technology and consists of 5 coupled cavities with a 6th-order filtering function. The antenna array is formed with a linear arrangement of four slot antennas in the final cavities which excite two modes in the radiating cavity. The array operates at a center frequency of 6.75 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 5.0% and with a gain of 7.44 dBi.

摘要: We present here a fully planar, low-cost and easy to fabricate power divider and a slot array antenna operating at 5G communication bands, based on a new version of the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The proposed SIW is synthesized by replacing each via row, with two rows of broadside-coupled complementary split ring resonators (BC-CSRRs), etched on the top and bottom metal ground surfaces of the dielectric substrate. Such resonators provide a negative effective permittivity and are capable of perfectly confining the wave within the propagating channel. The proposed waveguide exhibits excellent propagation characteristics, with losses close to those of the conventional SIW, providing a highly promising platform to implement low-cost planar components for 5G applications.

摘要: In a phased array antenna system, beamforming integrated circuit (IC) is located directly behind the antenna and uses a multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB). As the frequency band becomes higher, the direct via feed method is not suitable for multi-layer PCB structure due to the decrease of transmission characteristics and the increase of manufacturing difficulty by use of blind via. This paper introduces the antenna using an aperture coupled feeding technique on multi-layer PCB for a Ku-band phased array antenna system. To verify the design, an antenna prototype is developed and measured at Ku-band for satellite applications. The antenna operates with left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) at center frequency of 11.9GHz and a peak gain of 15.2dBic.

摘要: In this paper, a planar bow-tie slot antenna with coplanar waveguide fed for tri-band i.e. WIMAX, C and X band wireless communication applications is proposed. This antenna has been designed to meet the prerequisite of multiple resonant frequencies by setting up the proper dimensions of the bow-tie arm slots and feed line cutout slots. The dimensions corresponds to the tri-band resonant frequencies, are obtained by engraving slots of distinct length and width above the ground plane. The antenna is fed by 50? coplanar waveguide feed line. Physical size of the proposed antenna is 30×60 mm2 designed on thick substrate. The copper cladding ArlonCuClad217(tm) woven fiberglass laminate material with dielectric loss tangent 0.0009 and relative permittivity 2.17 is used. The gain, impedance bandwidths, return loss, and VSWR of proposed antenna has been analyzed and discussed. Moreover, the extensive parametric study has been carried out with dimensions of feed line cutout. The simulation results have shown that the designed prototype of an antenna exhibits the peak realized gain of 6.9dBi and average gain of 2.3dBi.The proposed antenna has three operating bands, which are suitable for WIMAX, C-band and X-band applications.
