  • Phonon coherences reveal the polaronic character of excitons in two-dimensional lead halide perovskites

    摘要: Hybrid organic–inorganic semiconductors feature complex lattice dynamics due to the ionic character of the crystal and the softness arising from non-covalent bonds between molecular moieties and the inorganic network. Here we establish that such dynamic structural complexity in a prototypical two-dimensional lead iodide perovskite gives rise to the coexistence of diverse excitonic resonances, each with a distinct degree of polaronic character. By means of high-resolution resonant impulsive stimulated Raman spectroscopy, we identify vibrational wavepacket dynamics that evolve along different configurational coordinates for distinct excitons and photocarriers. Employing density functional theory calculations, we assign the observed coherent vibrational modes to various low-frequency (?50 cm?1) optical phonons involving motion in the lead iodide layers. We thus conclude that different excitons induce specific lattice reorganizations, which are signatures of polaronic binding. This insight into the energetic/configurational landscape involving globally neutral primary photoexcitations may be relevant to a broader class of emerging hybrid semiconductor materials.

  • Ultra-High Vacuum Annealing-Assisted Quantum Wells Dimensional Tailoring for Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes Efficiency Enhancement

    摘要: Quasi-two-dimensional (Q-2D) perovskites featured with multiple dimensional quantum wells (QWs) have been the main candidates for optoelectronic applications. However, the excessive low-dimensional perovskite is unfavorable to the device efficiency due to the phonon-exciton interaction and the inclusion of insulating large organic cation. Herein, the low-dimensional QWs formation is suppressed by removing the organic cation 1-naphthylmethylamine iodide (NMAI) through the ultra-high vacuum (UHV) annealing. The perovskite light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) devices based on films annealed with optimized UHV conditions show higher external quantum efficiency of 13.0% and wall-plug efficiency of 11.1% compared to otherwise identical devices with films annealed in a glovebox.

  • A pre-solution mixing precursor method for improving the crystallization quality of perovskite films and electroluminescence performance of perovskite light-emitting diodes

    摘要: Quasi-two-dimensional (Q-2D) perovskites are one kind of efficient luminescent material with fast energy transfer and radiative decay of excitons due to the energy cascade formed by the mixed perovskite phase. However, the existence of monolayer or bilayer nanosheets in the Q-2D perovskite film results in poor charge transport, high trap density and rough film surface because of the high ratio of ligands, which leads to poor performance of Q-2D perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs). Herein, we proposed a new strategy of a pre-solution mixing (PSM) precursor to inhibit the formation of ultrathin perovskite nanosheets, which significantly enhanced the charge carrier mobility, reduced the concentration of defects and improved the film morphology. The PeLEDs based on the PSM precursor achieved the maximum luminescence of 7832.1 cd m?2 (~218% enhancement) and the peak current efficiency of 6.0 cd A?1 (~131% enhancement). By introducing mixed cations in the PeLED, the maximum brightness of 14 211.0 cd m?2 and current efficiency of 14.6 cd A?1 were realized, demonstrating the generality of our PSM method for the preparation of high performance PeLEDs.

  • Bright Orange Electroluminescence from Lead-Free Two-Dimensional Perovskites

    摘要: Lead halide perovskites are important materials for solar cells and light emitting diodes (LEDs), but the toxicity of lead is a matter of concern for these and other commercial applications. Here, we demonstrate a lead-free two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper-type (C18H35NH3)2SnBr4 perovskite with a strong emission from the self-trapped states, whose photoluminescence quantum yields in colloidal suspension and in film are 88% and 68%, respectively. The insulating character of the organic oleylamine cation prevents electronic band formation between the [SnBr6]4- octahedron layers, which results in the Stokes-shifted orange emission. Electroluminescence of these 2D lead-free perovskite materials was demonstrated in an inverted LED structure with a low turn-on voltage of 2.2 V and a luminance of 350 cd/m2.
