研究目的
Investigating the use of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) within triple-junction solar cells (TJSC) for spectrum splitting photovoltaics to improve photovoltaic conversion efficiencies.
研究成果
The proposed modification of the internal distributed Bragg reflector in lattice-matched triple-junction solar cells to act as a band-reflect filter can divert otherwise wasted light to a Si solar cell, enhancing efficiency. The approach also benefits metamorphic triple-junction solar cells by integrating a distributed Bragg reflector into the conventional buffer layer structure, promising higher efficiency and more radiation tolerant devices with the option of spectrum splitting to separate devices.
研究不足
The technical and application constraints include the need for more Bragg layers and/or different alloy compositions with larger refractive index contrast for increased reflectance in the desired wavelength range, subject to practical and economic constraints.
